On December 1, 2023, officers responded to a station lobby in Key West regarding a disturbance. A male reported that a female passenger in his vehicle had hit him. The female, later identified as Geneva, initially refused to cooperate but was eventually handcuffed. The male showed officers a video of the incident and had a cut on his hand. He did not want to press charges but requested a case number. Geneva was released but later returned to the station seeking contact with the male. She was arrested for battery causing bodily harm, as it was determined to be a case of dating violence. Geneva resisted arrest and had to be physically removed from the patrol vehicle upon arrival at the detention center. She continued to resist and refused to comply with commands. Photos of the male's injuries and video evidence of the incident were collected. Genova was then handed over to detention deputies.
