Outer Chaos Pitched Against Inner Truth

For most of May the four main asteroids, Vesta, Juno, Ceres and Pallas are on the opposite side of the sky from the eleven astrological planets, setting up dynamic tension. The asteroids tend to seduce us away from our truth until we get far enough away to wake up to the seduction, and take steps to get back to base.

Truth may be hard to come by these days, with millions of people seduced by the Mass-Consciousness Manipulative Media Machine, which is now cranking out a steady stream of advocacy journalism that has little truth and lots of warmongering.

Reporters at the New York Times, NPR, and other major outlets no longer even pretend to provide balanced, thought-provoking ideas that encourage us to think for ourselves. Instead, they tell us what to think, pre-digesting events to push the side of the story their corporate owners tell them to.

Advocacy journalism makes it all but impossible to consider the missing pieces, or the idea that folks on the other side of the fence might have something worthwhile to offer. Like rabid sports fans glorifying the home team and demonizing the visitors, national politics has gotten drained of meaning beyond the corporate need to sell information and get us to think exactly what they want us to. In this respect, neither the Demicans nor Republicrats are any different.

In the beginning, the press in this country was established as a government watchdog, to keep politicians serving the people rather than getting away with murder. No longer. Now, instead of freedom of the press we need freedom from the press.

Once a person has gotten driven away from what they know in their gut, the friction of living far from truth can snap on a light of the soul that empowers you to meet outer chaos with inner truth. In the current political witch-hunt climate you may need to dig deep, and find other people with open minds and penetrating insight to blaze through the bullshit, but it's so worth it that the fate of our world depends on it. Beyond corporate news lies the news of the soul, where something substantially different wants to happen. College kids know this now like they did in the Sixties, and have taken to the streets, and I gleefully cheer them on.
