- Russia has vetoed a UN resolution to stop the development and deployment of nuclear weapons in space. The draft proposals called on all states with major space capabilities to contribute to the objective of preventing an arms race in outer space. A total of 13 of the council’s 15 members voted in favour, with Russia voting against and China abstaining.

⁃ A New York appeals court overturned Harvey Weinstein's 2020 conviction on felony sex crimes. The court ruled that the disgraced movie mogul did not have a fair trial because the judge who presided over the case allowed women to testify about allegations that were not part of the charges against him. Weinstein will remain in prison because of his conviction in Los Angeles.

- Barbados and Jamaica have announced they have decided to officially recognise the State of Palestine. Both countries advocate for a two-state solution as the only viable option to resolve the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Jamaica and Barbados now join 140 UN member states and the 11 Caribbean Community countries that have recognised the State of Palestine.
