"Honolulu City Lights," written by Keola Beamer, was released on the album of the same name in 1978. In 2004, listing The 50 Greatest Hawaiian Albums Of All Time, "Honolulu Magazine" placed "Honolulu City Lights" at number 1 (honolulumagazine, 2004). In 1979 Keola Beamer and brother Kapono Beamer were awarded a number of Na Hoku Hanohano Awards: Best Contemporary Hawaiian Album, Best Song, Best Single, Best Composer, Best Engineered Album, and Best Produced Album (K. Fry, hawaiianmusichistory, 2024). "Both song and album went on to become one of the most popular and most played works of contemporary Hawaiian music" (wikipedia, 2024).
