Hero nurses rush to protect babies during Taiwan quake

When the magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Taiwan on Wednesday, nurses at Ma Cherie Maternity Centre in Taipei didn’t think twice – disregarding their own safety, they rushed to the babies in their care, holding the cribs together to prevent the infants being injured. ‘Of course we were scared, very scared, but I think this is the natural instinct of a maternity staff,’ said Chen Ting-Chin, supervisor of Ma Cherie Maternity Centre. ‘The safety of the babies is of utmost importance.’
