- Israel's military has pulled out of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City after a two-week raid that has left most of the major medical complex in ruins. The Israel Defense Forces said it had killed 200 "terrorists", detained hundreds more and found weapons and intelligence "throughout the hospital". The IDF said it raided al-Shifa because Hamas had regrouped there.

- Turkey's main opposition party has claimed big election victories in the main cities of Istanbul and Ankara. The results are a significant blow for Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who had hoped to regain control of the cities less than a year after he claimed a third term as president. Erdogan had vowed a new era in Turkey's megacity of almost 16 million people, but the incumbent mayor of Istanbul secured more than 50% of the vote, defeating the president's AK Party candidate by more than 11 points and almost one million votes.

- Iran has promised to launch a 'harsh' retaliation against Israel after an airstrike destroyed the its consulate in Syria, reportedly killing a senior Iranian military adviser and roughly a handful of other people. The strike on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus killed as many as seven people, Iranian Ambassador Hossein Akbari said, before condemning Israel and vowing revenge for the strike 'at the same magnitude and harshness'.
