It is estimated that there is 1.1 Trillion Cubic Feet of Natural Gas off the coast of Gaza, in the Gaza Marina. They signed a contract 26 years ago to get that gas, but Palestinians haven’t seen anything since. It is also estimated there is 1.7 Billion barrels of oil off the coast of Gaza. If Israel takes Gaza, kills everyone, and annexes Gaza into the State of Israel, then it gets access to all those resources. There is also another oil and gas deposit in the West Bank called Meged, which Israel has taken and used because they argue it’s West of the 1948 Armistice Line. It is not uncommon for our audience to wonder why African Stream has advocated for Palestinians. It was there that he changed his name from Stokely Standiford Churchill Carmichael to Kwame Ture in honour of Ghana’s first leader, Kwame Nkrumah (1909-72), and Guinea’s first president, Ahmed Sékou Touré (1922-84).
