An elephant wakes up from having been fitted with a tracking collar that will help protect him and his kind from poachers, and shows that he's more awake than you might imagine.

In this clip, filmed in Loango National Park in Gabon by Jaime Dias, an elephant is seen waking up from tranquilizer dart during an exercise with the National Parks Agency of Gabon. Watch as the bulky animal struggles to stand up for a while, but then rushes in and bumps at the camera!

This is the incredible footage when an elephant was saved and freed by doting rescue group. Dramatic footage shows a man shooting the animal with a tranquilizer dart in the neck area when placing a tracking collar on it. The risky intervention required high dose sedation in order to complete the mission without any struggles.

Watch as the giant beast lays peacefully on the ground. Moments later, we see the creature waking up from the sedation, and slowly starting to struggle in the intention to stand up on its feet.

Elephants are one of the harder species to catch because they are relatively easy to tranquilize but extremely tricky to subdue. Nonetheless, the determined crew worked their way out and handled the situation well as a team, leading to a positive outcome. Judging by this footage, it must have taken a lot of time and effort to complete the mission and have the bulky animal to obey.

After being checked over by the man, the elephant can then be seen waking up and struggling to get up. After dozen of failed attempts, the creature is seen standing tall on its feet, happily gazing at the distance. However, out of a sudden, the elephant decides to charge off directly into the camera!
