Stuart Stevens: The Problem Is We Knew Mike Pence Before He Was a Virgin

CAPEHART: “Switching gears here Stuart. Because former vice president Mike Pence did something yesterday far too many Republicans have been willing to do. Watch this.”

Pence: “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year. Donald Trump is pursuing an articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years. And that’s why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign.”

CAPEHART: “Go ahead. Mike Pence, why — Stuart, why is Pence breaking ranks now?”

Stevens: “Yeah. I mean, you know, the problem is we knew Mike Pence before he was a virgin. But look I’m glad that he is — [Laughter] Where he is now. I think in life, we probably have to meet people where they are. And so it’s a binary choice. Either endorse Trump or not endorse. Think it’s better for the country that he not endorse Trump. I don’t really like the idea that Donald Trump is not running on this conservative agenda. Just say he attempted to kill me and overthrow the government of the United States. But look, I would consider it and I would put it in a positive column.”
