MOTORCYCLE VS CAR, BLANCHARD TEXAS, 03/09/24...

Motorcycle vs Car, 1 Hospitalized, BLANCHARD, March 9, 2024 - At approximately 8 pm on March 9, 2024, a black Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Kevin Phillips, 33, of Livingston, was south-bound on FM-2457. As Phillips was about to pass FM-3126 (next to Blanchard Baptist Church), a silver 2023 Ford Escape, driven by David Wheeler, 60, of Trinity, was north-bound on 2457 and attempted a left turn (onto 3126) directly in front of Phillips. The vehicles collided. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Ted Smith with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Phillips was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries (Phillips was wearing a helmet). Wheeler was physically okay. Traffic at the intersection was slowed, but not blocked. Wheeler is facing citations for failure to yield during the left turn, and violate DL restrictions. Phillips' motorcycle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston, while Wheeler's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker out of Goodrich.
