In autumn bears frantically search for high calorific foods to lay down fat before they start their ‘winter lethargy’. Contrary to popular belief bears do not hibernate only body temperature, pulse and respiratory rate decrease.

This camera hidden somewhere in Transylvania captures wild bears in the woods and the footage shows how they are looking for food. Their diet varies with the seasons, from grass and shoots in the spring to berries and apples in the summer, nuts and plums in autumn.

At first, the bear that jumps over the camera seems to be chased away by the other one that gets to the rocks first in order to find food that will satisfy her hunger. What all three bears do is coming and going one after another, smelling and licking the rocks in the same fashion as the most delicious meat has been barbecued there. No sooner they realize that there’s nothing on the rocks, they start to turn every piece of rock upside down and try to dig out what it looks like mud, dirt, grass and roots. With their options exhausted, the only food they might find so far is what lies under the rocks when all of them are turned over. The way the bears eat is so mouth-watering and it makes you feel hungry, too. As food becomes scarce in autumn, brown bears may travel hundreds of kilometers to locate food supplies.
