-
Let’s talk about, “POUNDS” and the scale
-
There’s this cultural fixation we have about “pounds.” It’s always “losing weight” or, in the case of the hard-gainers, “getting big by “gaining weight.”
-
Weight, as in pounds is an almost meaningless metric in of oneself without another metric to compare it against.
-
I for instance track my weight daily because that value in kilograms relative to my power output on the bike or Stepmill, now gives me a precise snapshot of my performance at that point in time. Just weighing more or less doesn’t matter outside that context.
-
Another example would be the weight loss some people experience on diet drugs, extreme fasting or elimination diets. So you “lost weight.” What was it though? I doubt it was all adipose tissue. Your goal ostensibly may be body composition, and it’s gratifying to see the number on the scale go down but you might be sacrificing lean mass, looking, feeling and performing worse, just for an arbitrary value that is valueless by itself.
-
Train and eat with intent and track the metrics that pertain to that intent. Without that information, “pounds” are just a number with no meaning.
-
You got people that are counting on you. Take care of yourself.

Stay in the fight 🇺🇸🇰🇪
