The 1970s was Wales' first golden era of international rugby, with players such as Gareth Edwards, JJ Williams, Mervyn Hughes, Gerald Davies and the much loved and missed Phil Bennett, JPR Williams and Barry John becoming household names not just in Wales but across the world.

Yet, the road to 70s glory was not an easy one and just as Wales faced less glorious times in the 80s and 90s before coming good in the mid 2000s, so they would also face a rocky road to success with the 1960s laws of the game being strictly amateur, no professionalism, no pay and also no coaching and tactics!

With even their own Union against them (nothing new!) how could Wales rise up and take on the world? Well, things were about to change with Carwyn James as the instigator who would finally make Wales the most feared team on the planet, with only the All Blacks coming anywhere near close to them.

Slammed (The 1970s) is a must watch for any Rugby Union fan.
