Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a dark and immersive gameset in the Viking age where the protagonist, Senua, journeys Viking Hell to save her lover. The game uses audio and visual distortions, puzzles, and combat to create a sense of tension and anxiety, and to challenge the player’s perception of reality. The game has a powerful story and performance that leave a lasting impression.

From the makers of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry, comes a warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness.

The game is a sympathetic and respectful portrayal of a personal journey that aims to raise awareness and empathy for people who face similar issues3. The game features intense combat, puzzles and set pieces that challenge Senna’s perception and resilience. The game is a masterclass of atmosphere, storytelling, and the marriage of mechanical and conceptual design.

According to IGN, the game is a mad world that is a beautiful, dark, tense visual novel, placing the excellently raw, human performance of its main character front and center on her journey into the land of the Northmen GameSpot describes the game as a sympathetic and respectful portrayal of a personal journey that aims to raise awareness and empathy for people who face similar issues3Nyxson says that the game is not worth the full price, but it is worth buying on a discount if you are interested in the artistic and heavy aspects of the game.

Hellblade took big swings for a AAA game, and there’s never been a better time to play it.
In Hellblade, you play as Senua, a Pictish warrior who has traveled to Helheim (Norse mythology’s underworld) to save the soul of her dead lover and best friend, Dillon. While she’ll come across many of the creatures and beings you’d expect in such a setting, two elements make the journey more dire. The first is a rot that starts on her hand and spreads across her body the more you die in the game, with a promise to erase all of your progress if it reaches her head. It not only raises the pressure of completing an already challenging experience, but it also drills into your head just how dangerous Senua’s quest really is.
