to have to deal with. In Part 4 of Waterworld, Pastor Troy uses the story of the lukewarm
believer to help us learn how to cure the nauseating live of a stale and apathetic person. Jesus
calls us to live our life all in for Him. He doesn’t want a bunch of fake followers. He wants real
and vulnerable followers, choosing to live a separated and holy life.

Rev. 3:15-16 (NASB) I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

The Condition…

Cold Water – Refreshing

Hot Water – Healing

Lukewarm Water – Nauseating

Rev. 3:17b “…you do not know that you are wretched, miserable…”

Instead of Refreshing - Stale – Going through the Motions.
Instead of Healing – Apathetic – Self Focused.

The Cure…

Rev. 3:19 (NASB) Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.

Zealous – The result of Energy!

Rev. 3:17b-18 (NASB) you do not know that you are … poor, blind, and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to apply to your eyes so that you may see.

Real Wealth through Sacrifice.
Rev. 3:18a (NASB) “…I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich…”

Mark 9:49 (NLT) “For everyone will be tested with fire.

Proverbs 17:3 (TPT) In the same way that gold and silver are refined by fire, the Lord purifies your heart by the tests and trials of life.

Acts 20:35 (NASB) In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Real Covering through Holiness.
Rev. 3:18a “I advise you to buy from Me …white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness…”

Gen. 3:7; 21 (NLT) At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves… And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.

Real Sight through Humility.
Rev. 3:18b (NASB) “I advise you to buy from Me…eye salve to apply to your eyes so that you may see…”

James 4:10 (NLT) Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

1 Peter 5:6 (NLT) So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
