I want help, I do, I want help. This is a film about psychological warfare. A specific type of warfare designed to distract. Misinform. Trust me. Trust me. And anaesthetize the brain. It has many disguises. And is used against every one of them. Against them. And against them. Of course, such Machiavellian activity requires a disguise which is why the propagandists call themselves the 'Public Relations' industry. But do not be fooled. 'Public Relations' and propaganda are interchangeable and it is the massive Public Relations industry that is designed to alter perception reshape reality and manufacture consent. A Hollywood set-designer was brought in to create a $200,000 backdrop for official war briefings. Today, America alone has more public relations propagandists than reporters which means that nearly half of what people in the West hear, see or read is written by professional liars. Professional liars whose job it is to keep people in front of their televisions reading gossip magazines eating vast amounts of toxic food and shopping - always shopping for the latest fashions and trends. That's the ideal for propagandists and great efforts are made in trying to achieve and maintain that ideal. Anything that keeps the masses from organizing themselves and asking important questions about what their masters are really up to. The 1960's. A period of heightened awareness and rebellion against the establishment with students leading the resistance. But when the situation seems to be getting out of hand the establishment ordered it to be stopped and the propagandists moved quickly to lead the young people away from dangerous protests into such fashionable protests. That was then. This is now. Fashion celebrity sex music technology any kind of a revolution except the social revolution. In this film we will reveal the methods used by the propagandists to control populations on behalf of their owners. You're gonna have to speed it up. Although these rich and powerful owners only make up 1% of the world's population they have mastered the use of propaganda over the other 99% turning them into consumer slaves who work harder and harder to buy things they don't need. These consumer slaves are also made to pay 'taxes' to their government money which is used to develop new weapons for the pernicious invasions and occupations of other countries. In the last five years alone they've given their owners more than $US 1 trillion for these illegal and immoral wars that can't be won. And are even encouraged to send their own children to fight them. This is Doctor of Psychology, Professor. You have just been exposed to a range of propaganda devices used by the West to control. Manipulate, neutralize, and anaesthetize entire populations. It's own. And that of other nations. The success of these mind-warping devices depends on their remaining hidden from the masses. But Our Dear Leader has insisted that you see with your own eyes exactly how this war against the mind is used to turn Western citizens into compliant slaves. Creating Ideas and Illusions. Has this man just broken a world record? Has he just created a medicine that can save thousands of lives? Perhaps he has been chosen to represent his community in some way...? No. This man has just purchased a telephone. And these people. What is making them scream and cry with such profound joy? They are on a television program where they are receiving consumer items. This for some boots. This for some clothes shelves. And this hysteria is not because they have found God but because they are receiving sneakers. The propagandist knows that an individual has a natural desire to be on a winning side and appear to fit in with the crowd. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to make them chant favourable, yet deliberately vague slogans like. "This Changes Everything." "Just Do It" "I'm Lovin' It" or "Support Our Troops". "The point of slogans like "Support our Troops" is that they don't mean anything that's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for. Nobody knows what it means because it doesn't mean anything". Noam Chomsky. Points out Professor Noam Chomsky. With this in mind propagandists can provide simple answers to complex problems and ask for approval without question. Either you're with us. Either you love freedom. Or you're with the enemy. They can use this method to sell phones. Violence. Cosmetics or even false wars like the unwinnable 'War on Terror' announced by these degenerates. And the hypocritical 'War on Drugs' announced by this master criminal who is awarding a medal to this man for joining the war on drugs despite this man being a drug addict. The most popular slogans contain 'virtue' words that embody what slaves in the West have been conditioned to value most dearly. Words like FREEDOM. TRUTH PEACE LIBERTY and most importantly. DEMOCRACY "The 20th Century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy" - Howard Zinn writes Howard Zinn. Let's look at that last line again: the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy. Is this true? Let's look at the facts: Since 1945, America has tried to overthrow 50 governments. Many of them democracies. In the process, over 30 countries and their people have been attacked including our own great and powerful Socialist sovereign nation. And the result? Not one single undemocratic country has been turned into a genuine democracy. I want peace as much as you do. The grotesque act of invading other countries, claiming them as your territory and stealing their resources to keep your emperor crown or corporate owners in power used to be known as 'empire building'. The latest propaganda slogan for empire building is: 'Globalization' a vague word with warm connotations of unification. But what it really means is the acquisition of other people's resources at any cost and unlimited slave labour. Slave labour needed to produce the unnecessary goods sold to these slaves. Slaves to persuasion and influence. In reality, these are "debt slaves" since they can't even afford the things they buy. Even in times of peril and economic meltdown at the orders of their President they must keep consuming. Is this democracy? On February 15, 2003 millions of people worldwide took to the streets in the worlds' largest ever day of protest. A protest against the pirate Bush regime and their British and Australian lapdogs who wanted to go to war on manufactured grounds. The majority of the world voted against this war but were ignored. Is this democracy? The powerful 1% went ahead with their pre-planned war as always using the poorest people's children to do the fighting. We're here for your fucking freedom, so back up right now! It is important to note that these cowards were happy to order mass death and destruction despite never having been in battle themselves. Is this democracy? No. Real democracy is when the majority of people make a decision and it is upheld. For example, in polls taken throughout the world the vast majority of citizens want to see these war criminals committed to stand trial for crimes against humanity since 90% of the casualties of their false 'War on Terror' were innocent civilians. 'War on Terror' is a vague propaganda slogan as a real war on terror would include direct intervention in Darfur Myanmar and Zimbabwe, where Robert Mugabe has made a mockery of the American's claim to love democracy. A real war on terror would start with American citizens refusing to pay taxes that support Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine. Taxes that could be used to help Americans who are unemployed working without healthcare and homeless. Of course, if you dared to point this out in America you would be named "Anti-American" and a traitor or one of those "who hate freedom" so people keep quiet because they are afraid of expressing how they feel. "You've got to keep them pretty scared, because unless they're properly scared and frightened that all sorts of devils are going to destroy them from outside or inside or somewhere, they may start to think, which is very dangerous, because they're not competent to think. Therefore it's important to distract them and marginalize them." - Professor Noam Chomsky points out Professor Noam Chomsky. Before you can distract and marginalize them, however. You first have to know what motivates them. Fear. Communism in reality, is not a political party. It is a way of life. An evil and malignant way of life. It reveals a condition akin to disease that spreads like an epidemic. And like an epidemic a quarantine is necessary to keep it from infecting this nation. Fear is the engine room of imperial propaganda. We cannot wait for the final proof. The smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud. Those who have understood this have manipulated people for centuries. Indeed millennia by manufacturing and controlling religion. The Western religions of Judaism. Christianity and Catholicism use a propaganda manual called The Bible. Although it is the same story, each brand claims its version is the best one. As with any advertising the propagandist knows that there is no ideia easier to sell than the ideia that you are vastly superior to everyone else. So they tell their followers that they are unique in human history that they are descended from the first man and first woman and that they are chosen by their Supreme Creator to rule over all other cultures. To secure the deal, they add the ideia of an eternal soul. That way, death doesn't seem so bad and they won't resist being sent to fight against competing brands. "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." - Seneca the Younger. Religion. Of course, only the truly ignorant believe that books like the Bible are really the word of God. Religion is horribly unmistakably human. "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction:" jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, "capriciously malevolent bully." Scientist Richard Dawkins. With the use of science, we can now diagnose God as a psychopath with extreme narcissistic personality disorder. He is a character created by humans who sought to control others by naming themselves as prophets of God. While most people who claim to be prophets of God are kept in mental asylums, others make their way into positions of power. "Hence today I believe I am acting in accordance with the Will of the Mighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." - Adolf Hitler. Working in accordance with God isn't just for believers: British Prime Minister Tony Blair turned to Catholicism after killing as many innocent Muslim civilians as possible. Now he can be forgiven for mass murder and sit next to God for eternity. 00:21:55.000,00:22.00.000 All he has to do is sit in a box and confess his sins to a priest. All he has to do is sit in a box and confess his sins to a priest. Catholicism is the ideal choice for terrorists like Tony Blair, the Mafia, and the IRA. The Catholic Church wholeheartedly supported the Nazis and with the help of the CIA, continued to protect them after the fall of the Third Reich by passing them along the infamous 'ratline' to safety in America. It also goes out of its way to protect the malignant child abusers who run its operations worldwide. - Most of all it protects the Pope. - The richest man in the world who travels to Africa pleading for an end to poverty despite never using his own riches to help his most desperate followers. Instead, he promises the poorest that they will be the richest in Heaven. This crusade, this war on terrorism, ah, is gonna take a while. This toxic Texan claims that God told him to invade Iraq and Afghanistan so he did killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. He must speak to the same God as his father whose war and sanctions killed millions of innocent civilians in the same place. I have said to the people of Iraq that our quarrel was not with them but instead with their leadership. Above all with Saddam Hussein. You, the people of Iraq, are not our enemy. We do not seek your destruction. This man clearly enjoys killing people: even though he was too scared to fight for his country during the American War of Aggression in Vietnam he broke all records for killing prisoners during his time as Governor of Texas. Such a civilized society, America where this two-term President refused to pardon Ricky Ray Rector from execution. A man so severely retarded that when the guards interrupted his last meal to lead him to his execution he assured them it was ok because he would "just have to finish it when they got back". Like God these leaders show no mercy to the weak. 00:24:48.000,00:24:51.500 Even in their own country after a devastating hurricane. Even in their own country after a devastating hurricane no mercy for the weak. And here no mercy for the weak. Beware the 1%. The whole truth and nothing but the truth. Although the psychopath makes up less than 5% of the Western population those infected with narcissism and unusual intelligence force their way into the 1% who rule over the masses. Drawn to politics and big business, they are strongly against democracy. Because in a true democracy these treacherous monsters would be impeached and sentenced to death for lying fraud treason race hate mass murder and war crimes. But "impeachment is not acceptable" declared this smiling new president who came to power in 2009. Why? Because he is one of them. His advisers are drawn from the same gang of Washington thugs and Wall Street banksters as the so-called opposition. His presidency was paid for by the same lobbyists and corporations that sponsored all of the other presidents before him. Here we see the most obvious lie in democracy: the one that two candidates represent a choice when they are clearly run by the same interests. "There's actually a single-party system in the United States: a Demorepublican party under the guise of two parties, Democrat and Republican. No matter which of the two you vote for, you vote for the Demorepublican Party'. 00:27:00.000,00:27:03.500 This was said by a conservative idealog, R Ridger." This was said by a conservative idealog, R Ridger. This time, vote like your whole world depended on it. Allowing people to vote for one of your brands is the best way to make them feel like they are connected to their candidate and involved in a democracy. When they become wary or distrustful of one candidate you give them a completely new, smiling face and simple slogans like "Yes We Can" and "Time for Change" that are easy to chant and provide hope but are essentially meaningless. Meaningless because this charming President will do exactly what he is told to do by his corporate masters spending countless billions on killing humans in far-away lands while his own people continue to suffer. Democracy is just a slogan. Emulating Psychosis. Survivor is coming with a super big cast. In this vulgar television series carefully selected Americans have to pretend to survive by being the most conniving, manipulative, and money-hungry contestant on embarrassingly contrived, multi-million dollar sets to win money. For a million dollars I can do just about anything! This is a perfect metaphor for America where the real survivors are the millions of homeless people who don't get to go home after filming. Look at these images from celebrated filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. What happened to this man as a child? What did America do to him that he should make such images for people to watch? Is he a psychopath? No. He is simply re-interpreting the western cult of death he grew up with for new generations of consumer zombies who crave seeing their fellow humans mutilated in new and inventive ways. This cult of death is rooted in the Bible which the Imperialist slaves believe is actually the word of God. The same God that's used to send them to kill humans on the other side of the world because they have a different God. "God and country are an unbeatable team; they break all records for oppression and bloodshed." Luis Bunuel. Here we see the simplistic duality of good vs. evil peddled by today's rulers. God is on our side and everyone is choosing our brand. Make your choice! You're either with us, or against us. This reassures the 99% that the 1% is strong. This reassures the 99% that the 1% is strong and has everything under control. Now they can relax and get back to their football game video games TV shows or go shopping. The 1% have always controlled the 99% with religion. They are the ones who control information and decide what people think. They even decide what people know about the past. Rewriting History. "Who controls the past controls the future. And who controls the present controls the past." - George Orwell. There's people running along the dikes. Good job I saw you splatter one right in the back with a rocket Roger. I just got lucky I guess. When carrying out attacks on other nations, destroying their infrastructure and deforming their future generations with the use of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons the imperialist needs to rewrite history and keep repeating it over and over until it becomes true. The young lady with the red hair, right behind the school teacher there. Mr. President, why did you drop the atom bomb? Mr. President, the future wants to know 'was it right to drop the atom bomb?' I made the only decision I ever knew how to make. I did what I thought was right. Throughout the years of negotiations, we have insisted on peace with honour. Let us be proud of the young Americans who serve with honour and distinction. "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." - George W. Bush, New York, May 2005. Repeat over and over that the Nazis killed 6 million Jews in WW2 and the Jews will enjoy endless sympathy despite Israel continuing to commit many of the same crimes as the Nazis. But if you keep silent about the 26 million Russians killed by the Nazis in WW2 then Russian suffering becomes invisible. Let us see now how this has been applied throughout history. Every year, America celebrates the progress of Western Civilization with a propaganda campaign known as Columbus Day. 500 years ago Christopher Columbus set off to claim new riches for the Catholic Church. Arriving on a lush Hispaniola in 1492 he spoke of the 3 million Taino Indians who came out to greet them as the friendliest, kindest people in the world. He then systematically enslaved, raped, and killed them at such a rate that by 1555 every single one of them was dead. "Christopher Columbus not only opened the door to a New World, but also set an example for us all by showing what monumental feats can be accomplished through perseverance and faith." - George H.W. Bush, 1989 speech. Such perseverance and faith was the basis of Manifest Destiny in which the American government decided that God wanted white Christians to take over the continent. Their God clearly didn't like the 100 million Native Americans who lived in harmony with nature as 99% of them were systematically murdered. This fact is now celebrated with a propaganda campaign called 'Thanksgiving Day'. Only nobody speaks of land theft, genocide, or destruction of culture. Nobody questions the propaganda films depicting Native Americans as vile savages trying to stop God's civilized white settlers from making a home. They're too busy eating and celebrating unaware that the few remaining Native Americans hold a National Day of Mourning on the same day as a protest against this invasion. Ironically, the Americans also have a day for celebrating their victory over invaders. Independence Day is a celebration of 'The Declaration of Independence' which was created by intellectual men whose visions were similar to the superior ideals of Juche. Their vision for a glorious nation of equal and happy citizens who were not oppressed by the forces of religion and empire now lies in pieces crushed beneath the uncontrolled drive for profits that have lead to enormous human suffering and environmental destruction. But America is not the only perpetrator of crimes against humanity and the planet. Imperialism is in the heart of the British occupying India and running Opium Wars out of China. It twitches in the spine of the wicked Japanese; the French in every continent and the World Bank and IMF in every poor country since World Ward Two all have committed grave crimes against humanity in their search to conquer, steal, and erase memories with their lies. Celebration of a nation. Give us a hand. Celebration of a nation - let's make it grand. Lies like Australia Day a celebration of the day in 1788 when Australians who are merely geographically displaced European criminals deemed unworthy of being on British soil were sent off to settle as far away as possible. These low-grade humans call Australia 'The Lucky Country' But their arrival was not so lucky for the Aborigines, who had been there for 40,000 years. For them - the oldest human presence on Earth - the 'Lucky Country' is a propaganda phrase used to cover up Australia's most enduring taboo: Genocide. White Australians don't like that word. They admit to words like pacifying. Killing. Cleansing. Excluding. Exterminating. Poisoning. Shooting and starving anything but genocide anything but the truth. Look at this film called 'Australia'. It was made with large tax breaks by the Australian white government to advertise Australia as the Lucky Country. It used an Aboriginal child to distract people from the ongoing genocide there and the fact that Australia is now a dumping ground for nuclear waste by its British and American masters. Another country that refuses to acknowledge its psycopathic past is Japan a failed empire that tries to cover up all of its vile and putrid atrocities. While the world cares for threatened species, the Japanese butcher them relentlessly. The Japanese even enjoy luring dolphins into harbours and murdering them in a rage. This barely disguised need to mutilate life is no surprise to us in Korea. But we will come to this shortly. First, let's examine how propaganda was turned into such an effective weapon by the West. The Birth of Propaganda. It is a remarkable fact that modern propaganda began with the British who established a secret war propaganda bureau in 1914 in order to sway American public opinion and gain sympathy for the Allied cause. It was headed by George Creel, who described it as: "A vast enterprise in salesmanship - the world's greatest adventure in advertising." His immediate job was to convince the pacifist American people that a war some 4,000 miles away was worth fighting, even though American soil was not threatened. Hollywood helped this cause by exploiting a weekly film audience of 80 million with titles such as: 'The Hun Within' 'The Kaiser' 'The Beast of Burden' and 'The Claws of the Hun' which all suggested that the German threat was right on American soil. The process worked so well that Americans learned to hate German civilians almost as much as the targeted German government and just six months after his re-election on a 'Stay out of The War' pledge, President Woodrow Wilson declared war on Germany. One week later, the US set up its own propaganda organization: the Committee on Public Information which became so successful that it continues to this day as the United States Information Agency. While the British abandoned propaganda in peacetime the Americans maintained its use under the leadership of Creel Commission psychologist Edward Bernays who argued that American public opinion must be engineered from above by society's few masters the 1% to control the rabble. His first experiment was to convince American women that smoking was glamorous and liberating despite common fears that smoking was associated with prostitution. He did this by hiring models to march in New York's Easter Parade each holding a lit cigarette and wearing a banner proclaiming it a "torch of liberty". The business world then turned to Bernays to indoctrinate citizens with the capitalist story until the masses willingly adopted the ideia that America is a country "of big business, by big business, and for big business." "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power" - Benito Mussolini. Meanwhile, Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels was openly thanking the British and Americans for their propaganda model and put it to good use for rallying the German people to war. Do you want, if possible. Even more total, more radical war than we can even dream of? Histórical documents prove that Goebbels ordered stormtroopers to burn down the German Reichstag, which he blamed on the Communists. This had the desired effect of frightening the population who surrendered their civil rights and enabled the Nazis to swiftly transform Germany from Republic to Fascist State and launch WW2. Cover Ups and Omissions 35 million lives were given up in WW2 in patriotic fervour created by propaganda campaigns. Australia marches with Britain! Land of plenty. Land of untold resources. All placed gladly, willingly, at the feet of Mother England. Look carefully at this man. He is the. Emperor of Japan, whose forces have committed the appalling atrocities against British, Empire, and Chinese troops. And civilians, men and women, in Hong Kong. These are the swine who bound and bayoneted our helpless soldiers in their hands. If these pictures serves to kindle a flame of vengeance throughout the civilized world, they will have served their purpose. Let the cry be vengeance. Bloody vengeance! For the second time, the American public and Congress were overwhelmingly against entering the war in Europe. Another war - not for me - America should keep out of it and I know I will. If war breaks out in Europe I think this country should heed the advice of its first president and avoid all foreign entanglements. In the event of war in Europe, I think we should stay out of it entirely. So President Franklin Roosevelt needed something that could provoke Hitler into declaring war on the U.S and frighten the public into action. He did this by deliberately failing to warn his fleet commanders that a surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour was imminent. The warnings came to him from the governments of Britain, Australia, and the Soviet Union and are now a matter of public record. We in Korea were among the first to alert the Americans because we know better than anyone what the vicious Japanese are capable of. More power to you, President Roosevelt! The entire country's behind you, filled with hope and patriotism. As if using propaganda to send their pacifist population to war wasn't bad enough. Consider how America repaid its people for defeating the Nazis: Operation Paper Clip. Operation Paper Clip was the safe transfer of Nazi scientists and operatives into the CIA. Nazis like Josef Mengele - the infamous 'Angel of Death' who carried out live experiments on humans in the death camps. These death industry pros were given new identities as US citizens and employed in US laboratories to develop a dazzling array of mind-control programs for the CIA. As well as new products and ideas for US bio-chemical warfare expansion. Not only did companies like General Electric, DuPont, Ford and Bell help with Operation Paperclip but so did Americans like Prescott Bush - the patriarch of the Presidents George Bush. Documents in The National Archives and Library of Congress show that he committed treason continuously between 1924 and 1951 first by using Jewish slave labour in collusion with the Nazis and then by bringing those Nazis and their assets into America. Despite being a traitor to his country, this Nazi collaborator became a senator and his family has assumed great power in America. But they are not the only fascist family to thrive from tyranny against humanity. Court records show that the Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company was selling more oil to Hitler's war effort than to the Allies and for this, a federal judge ruled John D. Rockefeller committed treason against the United States. Treason. The most heinous crime of all. Prior to WW2, this man joined fellow traitor Prescott Bush and the British Royal Family in sponsoring the eugenics initiatives that gave rise to Hitler's racial hygiene programmes. Horrifyingly, today the Rockefeller family, the U.N and World Health Organization remain at the forefront of administering "population programs" designed to reduce world populations to more manageable levels. One can only imagine what terrible ideas these monsters have in store for us. To understand how Rockefeller avoided being punished for treason, we need to go back to WW1 when Germany was winning the war without a single shot being fired on German soil. David Ben-Gurion - the head of a powerful group of Zionists - and the American Rothschild family approached the British with the promise to bring the Americans into the war. In return they wanted Palestine. The British agreed to this land theft and, at the cost of American lives and money which has never been repaid they signed the Balfour Declaration, which was addressed to Lord Rothschild from the British Government promising Palestine to the Rothschild Zionists as "a national home" for Jews. This is both sinister and unnecessary since Jews lived peacefully for thousands of years amidst the Arab majorities in the Middle East and had no desire to steal their land. The Zionist collaboration with the British worked: Germany went from winning the war to capitulating and signing The Versailles treaty at - where else? The Rothschild's Palace. Palestine was then declared a British mandate and the Zionists were able to swiftly colonize Palestine after the Second World War. On May 14th 1948, after Rockefeller leaned on smaller countries in the UN to vote Israel into the United Nations Israel declared its "independence from British mandate". Today, the British Mandate over the land of Israel ends. We declare a Jewish State in the ancient land of Israel. It will be called The State of Israel. And one year later had claimed 78% of Palestine despite only owning 6% of it. The first Prime Minister of Israel was Zionist David Ben-Gurion who employed Reuters - which was owned by the Rothschild Zionist organization to start an enormous propaganda campaign, which continues to this day. Complicity. Once Israel was established with UN approval and the world was sold on the fairytale of Jews finally returning to Israel David Ben-Gurion started a campaign of ethnic cleansing. "We have taken their country We must do everything to insure they never return We must use terror, assassination, intimidation," "land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population." - David Ben-Gurion 1948. For over six decades Israel has tenaciously pursued this hateful agenda of colonization. Ethnic cleansing murder terrorism land theft and cultural genocide with great success thanks to American tax-payers who give $3B in direct economic and military assistance each year. It is widely understood that this money is currently being used to build this apartheid wall that costs an estimated $1m per mile. "Apartheid is a crime against humanity. Israel has deprived millions of Palestinians of "their liberty and property perpetuated a system of gross discrimination." â€' Nelson Mandela Israel has become Nazi Germany destroying their victim's land, confiscating their property putting them in concentration camps even stamping numbers on their hands a practice that lead to Yaffa Yarkoni, holder of the Israel Prize, to speak out: "The Territories should be given back and that's it we should learn from the Holocaust not to abuse and humiliate other peoples." Yaffa Yarkoni is talking about Article 49 of the Geneva Convention which says that no state may put its own civilians as settlers into occupied territories. "Settlers" and "settlement" are of course propaganda phrases that evoke legitimate and comforting feelings of finding a home. However, as acclaimed journalist Robert Fisk writes in his novel 'The Great War for Civilization': "The far more disturbing - and far more accurate - word for Israel's land-grabbing in the West Bank and Gaza since 1967 is colonizing. Settlers are colonists" - Robert Fisk. So why doesn't the world condemn Israel and demand it's withdrawal from the Occupied Territories? Why is America the only country still fervently supporting Israel and its policies? Nobel Peace Prize winner Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa observes that. "The Israeli government is placed on a pedestal in the US, and to" criticize it is to be immediately dubbed anti-Semitic. People are scared in the US to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful - very powerful." Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa. Censorship. The most important propaganda victory for Israel has been selling the ideia that it is the victim and the Palestinians are the terrorists. They do this by controlling the media. According to Israeli Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer the Holocaust is constantly exploited to deflect criticism of Israel and its own immoral policies. "Hardly a month goes by without a new TV production, a new film, a new drama, new books, prose or poetry, dealing with the subject, and the flood is increasing rather than abating." - Professor Yehuda Bauer, Hebrew University, Jerusalem. The reality is that America's relationship with Israel could not withstand public scrutiny which would quickly expose Israel not as a victim but the most powerful country in the Middle East. It is the world's fourth largest nuclear power and the fifth largest arms producer; it possesses nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons but thanks to America has never signed a non-proliferation treaty or agreed to international inspection; it is also an occupying power in a stolen land that is not held accountable for its actions by anyone. "Anything that's mobile, that moves in the zone, even if it's a three-year-old, needs to be killed." This was said by an Israeli army officer who was acquitted of any wrong-doing after shooting 13 year old school girl Iman al-Hams seventeen times. After confirming the kill to his soldiers, he emptied a full magazine into her head. The world never finds out about these things because Israel doesn't allow it. It calls itself a democracy but uses a type of propaganda called censorship, where certain phrases and words are not allowed: Journalists are not allowed to use the word Palestine; it's. "The terrorist infrastructure." These territories are not occupied, they are: "disputed." These are not humans seeking freedom from oppression, they are: "terrorists." This is not an apartheid wall. It is: a "security barrier". This is not assassination and murder. It is: "pacification." This is not state-sanctioned terror. It is: "self defense." This is all part of a carefully orchestrated plan to dehumanize their victims a tool learned from what the Nazis did to Jews, homosexuals, Gypsies and the mentally diminished. International Diplomacy. This propaganda phrase is needed when the imperialist decides to carve up or give away something that doesn't belong to them like Palestine or Korea. Thanks to Western propaganda half the world still believes their invasion of Korea in 1950 was needed to fight Communism. They have no ideia that Our Eternal Leader was trying to unify Korea after their leaders tore us apart for war profiteering. They remain ignorant of why we feel han towards this grave injustice. And what was the result of this manufactured war? A bombing campaign that destroyed 75% of our country and killed 4 million of our citizens. The American bandits also tested biological weapons by dropping infected insects and other agents on us and our Chinese brothers and sisters. Despite these evil and cowardly acts, the West was unable to defeat our glorious nation in the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War. Despite a record 7 threats with nuclear weapons by the Americans, with their enormous wealth and military might we remain undefeated winning one victory after another and we are now their longest running adversary. They are afraid of us. But we are not afraid of them. The Americans label us "unpredictable" and dangerous but America is the only nation insane enough to use nuclear weapons on their fellow human beings. Rivers and streams throughout the city began to boil. People evaporated where they stood, leaving shadows of their bodies scorched onto the streets. In a matter of seconds, 4 square miles of Hiroshima became an atomic wasteland. Several minutes passed, then a black rain began to fall on the city. Sticky, pebble-sized drops of radioactive ash. And it is America that has invaded 37 countries in the last 50 years. We have invaded none. Even our limp-wristed brothers and sisters in the South feel Han towards the 33,000 imperial occupiers on their land. They also want the Americans to leave so we can be reunited as one Korea. Don't the consumer slaves of the West want to know why their forces are occupying our country? Do they care? Do they even know? The answer is that most of them don't know and don't care because their owners have full control over what they see and think. Television. Far more seductive than opium infinitely more effective at shaping behaviour and expectations than alcohol and religion television is the most powerful weapon of psychological warfare in history. Consumer slaves in the West schedule their lives and relationships around watching television. They use it as a babysitter for their youth and wake up to this drug; consume it whenever possible during the day, and go to sleep with it. They even take it with their meals. Television, or TV as they call it in the West, doesn't kill. It pacifies turning viewers into compliant zombies. They wear a vacant, glassy-eyed look on their faces because they are in a trance-like state. This is ideal. Now the consumer is sitting still and ready for indoctrination. No force is necessary here; he is a willing participant. It is no mistake that happiness in the West peaked in the 1950's before television was used to enforce capitalism's consumer message. The message that you are not happy. Not unless you buy this product. Look like this person. Or drink this beverage. The West calls these images advertising. Advertising. Advertising is both propaganda and propaganda distributor. Advertising is about hawking product and creates artificial needs since most products are completely unnecessary. Advertising unashamedly fosters unhappiness with oneself and with ones possessions. In fact, the very purpose of advertising is to open up emotional vulnerabilities and make people feel that without this product, they are defective. You need to protect your skin. You need to hydrate your skin. You need to moisturize your skin, and you need to repair your skin. Corporations employ psychologists, writers and filmmakers to sell what is essentially the same product. A certain toothpaste, for instance, claims to have a feeling of freshness. This one claims to have dazzling strips of whitening ability while this one is for people who claim to have teeth so sensitive that it feels like they've been stung by lightning. One of the tricks of effective advertising is to identify the product with a highly desirable quality that has widespread appeal. If you buy this, you will have clear skin and become attractive to others. Use this product and pretend that you, too, can be a farmer. Drive this car, and appear liberated and adventurous like these actors. Advertisements are nothing but bait laid out for certain types of consumers. These same methods are used to glorify the corporations who make these products. This is called "corporate" propaganda. For example: The General Electric Company likes to boast about its 'Imagination at work' which includes money lending and manufacturing equipment for building missiles and other armaments. The truth is that corporations exist only to make money and are even legally compelled to prioritize making profits over competing interests such as the wellbeing of consumers. And there is no such thing as enough profit for the capitalist. - This is why they promote globalization. - The new slogan for empire. It allows them to promote their symbols, also known as brands by using slave labour in third world countries. These imperial brands are a symbol of value and meaning like a flag but their only allegiance is to profit, not country. Their goal? Maximum profit. Their target? Human beings: Turn them into mindless consumers who crave their product and keep buying it at any cost to their country, fellow citizens, and the environment. And for what? Look at the background of this commercial. This product is for those with money and high social standing according to the image. This is how the bizarre need to appear superior to friends, fellow workers and neighbours is mercilessly enlarged and exploited. But advertising is not just for adults. Propagandists spend $12B per year specifically targeting children to form consumer habits early on. They can ingrain their brand by repeating it over and over until the child is indoctrinated and manipulated beyond control. By 18 months, babies in the West can tell the difference between brands and by 2 they're asking for brand products by name. From the age of 7, the average child has seen 20,000 TV commercials every year. One, two, three, four. Not gonna wear it anymore. There is only one other group more coveted and groomed by advertisers than any other: pre-teen and teenage girls. The propagandists call this the Tween market but in fact it is corporate paedophilia. The aim of corporate paedophiia is to make young people feel inferior and defective by using images that are unattainable and these images are used against consumers for the rest of their lives to keep them feeling inadequate unless they buy their products and stick with their brands. The fashion industry is the same. Wear this and you might fit in. Look like this and you will be attractive and popular like the people in these gossip magazines. These people are called 'celebrities'. Where do we begin...? The Cult of Celebrity. While it is natural for a person to become popular for being the best at what they do today in the West you are a celebrity if you simply appear on screen. Any screen. Even by mistake. You gain credibility and praise for nothing and the more you appear, the bigger a celebrity you become. If you become a big enough celebrity you then become a brand to be sold and traded like any other product. Meet Miss Kim Kardashian. She is famous for owning some clothes shops and going shopping. She wears diamonds and fur because they are symbols of wealth in the West. And because she believes she is superior to other humans, she ignores the true cost of these luxuries. This celebrity is called Madonna. She recently started a trend of shopping for children in third world countries, which gained her enormous publicity. She could have adopted one of the millions of poor black children in America who have no home but that would not have gotten her the attention she so desperately craves. Meet Mr. Tiger Woods an athlete who has made millions of dollars from his image as an honest, dependable family man even though the greedy golfer was also having sex with over a - dozen waitresses, porn stars and C. - Grade models at the same time. This is B-grade actor is Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger seen here with his wife when he was re-elected as Governor of California. Unlike the other B-grade actor who served as governor of California this actor won't get to be President because he made fathered a child with the family maid in their marital bed. These two actors are very big celebrities. Their names are Brad and Angelina and their brand is Brandgelina. They also shop for children in third world countries. Like other celebrities, they constantly complain about the media attention they get even though they have entire teams of propagandists who alert the media each time they go shopping for children or purchase a coffee wearing the latest designer clothes. The truth is that celebrities like these are merely collaborators. For example, despite the fact that tobacco in the West is laced with more than 2000 deadly chemicals designed to addict and kill humans celebrities frequently appear in magazines, movies and fashion shoots smoking cigarettes. Big Tobacco pays these trained-monkey collaborators of death enormous amounts to smoke and glamorize their product knowing that the youth want to be celebrities too. - Nicole, don't do that. - You promised. Sometimes celebrity exacts a terrible toll on the human brain, leading to confusion and misery. This poor man is Mr. Michael Jackson a very famous musician who recently died from a drug overdose. Let's look at what America did to this man: his ancestors were raped from Africa and brought to America as slaves and his childhood was spent working and performing for a violent father who colluded with record companies to profit from his talents. So much pain at the hand of capitalism leads to an identity crisis. These disturbing images are not film trickery but the result of a practice known as plastic surgery. In surveys, 9 out of ten women in the West are unhappy with their appearance which drives them to spend enormous amounts of money buying cosmetics, clothes, and plastic surgery despite the fact that they will never become celebrities or look like the models in the advertisements. This is consumerism. Many of the biggest celebrities have no talent at all. This very famous woman is called Miss Katie Price. Her brand name is Jordan and despite my research it seems clear that she doesn't actually do anything. Love it. This is Miss Paris Hilton. This narcissistic parasite comes from a wealthy hotel family. She glorifies her opulent lifestyle without guilt and is said to charge $150,000 to appear at parties. She even has a TV program called My New Best Friend Forever where people compete to be her new best friend. Proof that anything in the West can be reproduced and commodified for profit. This is part of a trend in the West for what is called 'Reality Television'. A type of freak show programming about talentless narcissists who like to talk about themselves and go shopping. In the field of American reality TV competition is fierce for the most grotesque example of such exploitation. There are shows like 'The Swan' where women who are deemed ugly enter a plastic surgery competition to see who can be turned into the most beautiful. She's just very masculine: face; body; basically everywhere. So we really need to change her body with a lot of liposuction, breast augmentation. We really need to feminize her face by doing a brow lift, rhinoplasty, take the fat out of her cheeks and her chin. She really deserves to be in this program. This one is called 'My Super Sweet 16' where children have tens of thousands of dollars spent on them simply because they are turning 16. They are treated like celebrities, despite the fact that they have achieved nothing and are out of touch with reality. But this is nothing compared to a reality series called 'The Bachelor' where a handsome, wealthy young man declares his commitment to picking a wife from a bevy of 16 potential brides. His sincerity in talking to each woman is chilling as are their claims to love him. After sampling all of the potential brides, he decides who to marry turning the most personal of decisions into a commodity an experience to be manipulated, packaged and sold worldwide. Distraction. Distraction techniques like television and celebrity magazines are the propagandist's best tools for keeping people from thinking and talking about important issues. Now they have another: The Games industry now generates more money than the film industry and has cemented the West as a culture of death, violence and destruction. This is Grand Theft Auto 4. Here, you can kill anything that moves and have sex with prostitutes. This game appeals so much to people it sold half a billion dollars worth of units in its first week of sale. Because gaming and animation desensitizes violence and death much of the billions in military spending goes into recruiting young, poor and uneducated people to fight their Fortune 500 wars using these same techniques. Most serve one weekend a month and two weeks a year. This game is based on something called WWE, which stands for World Wrestling Entertainment. Extreme violence cheered on by Americans baying for blood. They know the names of each one of these actors and yet they don't know where Britain is on the map despite the efforts of the British to be their best friends. 85% of American young adults can't find Israel, Iraq or Afghanistan on a world map. 30% of them can't find the Pacific Ocean on the map. 75% of them don't know the population of the U.S and 11% of them can't even find it on a map. This is ideal of course: keep the masses ignorant and pacified on the couch distract them with violence, death and the illusions of celebrity. Reduce resistance and thought. Make them choose the bland over the brilliant the meaningless over the thoughtful. And dazzle them with trash. This is now what people around the world accept as normal. This manufactured reality has become more real than this: 3.8 million homeless Americans. But the media doesn't want people to know about these Americans. Not unless they can be used for entertainment. Meet Miss Tyra Banks a former clothes model who now has a talk show where she pretends to be concerned about people's problems and society in general even though she has no qualifications to do this. Here she dresses up and pretends to be homeless in order to experience life on the streets which is impossible because she owns numerous homes and great wealth. The audience doesn't question this charade but instead it willingly feeds into her need to talk about herself. Here we see America's Next Top Model where everything is covered in her Tyra brand. Everyone has to shout and scream and appear delighted at the mere mention of her name. In this episode she has the contestants made up to pose as blood-splattered and mangled corpses while across the other side of the world her fellow Americans were shooting, stabbing, and blowing up an estimated 1.8 million Iraqi civilians. Like most Americans, she doesn't know or care about these numbers. She is concerned only about a life of style over substance. Terrorism. There are now more propaganda-filled screens and magazines than at any other time in history and these are controlled by just five giant media companies. This creates more opportunities to distract people from what really matters. More opportunities to brainwash them. More opportunities to sell them poisoned food and drugs they don't need. More opportunities to drip feed them a meaningless, distorted reality. No, this is not a Hollywood blockbuster. The planes crashing into these towers are real and these buildings crashed to the ground, including one that wasn't hit by anything at all. The American population was terrorized, hypnotized, and traumatized by repetitive showings of the devastation with the media repeating over and over that it was a terrorist attack. However, 11 years after that day, it seems certain that everything was staged like a Hollywood blockbuster. Logic, physics and history point to this incident being another false flag operation like the bombing of the German Reichstag, Pearl Harbour, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident and polls in the US confirm this: 87% of Americans now believe that 9/11 was a contrived pretext for an endless War on Terror and the opportunity to remove their democratic rights and liberties. One by one the terrorists are learning the meaning of American justice. But the real threat to Americans is not terrorism. Between 2001-2009, the number of deaths from terrorism stood at 3,000. In the same period, there were 192,000 deaths by homicide; 204,000 Drunk Driving; 360,000 Suicide; 456,000 Second Hand Smoke; 873,780 Diabetes; 4,622,268 Cancer; 5,304,000 Smoking Related; 6,238,284 Heart Disease. Today our nation saw evil. We will not rest until this evil is driven from our world. But their leaders focus only on the phantom dangers of terrorism while allowing drug and food companies to make more and more poisonous food that is killing its people like an internal, unspoken genocide. They even protect these killer companies: cigarettes for example are the only consumer product that doesn't have to list its ingredients on the packet. To be fair, it would be difficult to fit the names of 2000 poisons on such a small box. Here we are reminded that wars are not fought for flags and citizens but for corporations. The 'War on Terror' engineered by American propagandists to frighten and control their people is impossible to win but endlessly profitable. "I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." - George W Bush, Washington, May 2008. The Revolution Starts Now. We are the only country left on the planet that has not been invaded by Imperial propaganda. We have not succumbed to their tyranny and we never will because we know what the ruling 1% is afraid of: They are afraid of real democracy. They are afraid that people will begin to recognize their propaganda and start rejecting it. They are afraid people will demand more power than the fraudulent auctions passed off as elections. They are afraid people will begin organized Resistance and stop obeying laws designed to dis-empower them. They are afraid people will start asking why they have to fight wars for the Fortune 500 companies. They are afraid that people will start to realize that those who commit atrocities against humanity have names and can't hide behind flags and corporations forever. They are afraid the people will gather in mass crowds and make citizen arrests or worse. More than anything, they are afraid that the world will decide it wants a new beginning a revolution that has no place for the pillagers and plunderers and exploiters. We are the headquarters of this world revolution! We will fight to the death to defend our peaceful nation and Beloved Leader from the cruelty, exploitation, greed enslavement and violence against helpless peoples everywhere. We will defend ourselves as we defend the rights of billions of humans who do not benefit from 500 years of Western civilization and the cancerous empire of corporate collusion. We must remain vigilant at all times and be alert to their insidious attack on the mind. For they have come before and they will come again.

Gabor Maté and Son Discuss Gaza Genocide
Dr. Gabor Maté, a renowned trauma expert, and his son Daniel, a filmmaker and musician, engage in a deep conversation about the ongoing violence in Gaza, which they describe as a form of genocide. They explore the profound impact that witnessing this brutality has had on their personal lives, professional work, and relationships. Both emphasize the deep psychological and emotional toll that such conflicts inflict, not just on those directly involved, but also on global observers. They critically examine whether this devastating war might offer a pivotal moment to break the cycle of trauma and destruction that has plagued the region for decades. Their discussion reflects a blend of personal anguish and hope for transformative change, rooted in their belief in the power of collective healing and the potential for peace, even in the most dire circumstances.

Each one of us has roughly 86 billion brain cells capable of transmitting information in fractions of a millisecond. And yet, we're all struggling to comprehend the violence perpetrated non-stop and on live stream for the past 10 months. I'm Annelies Borges, and on this episode of the stream, we ask what it is that we feel in the face of such horror, and how to stand in solidarity in a world more divided than ever. And to help us answer those questions and more, we have two very special guests joining us today. Physician and Holocaust survivor, Dr. Gabor Mate, and musical theater composer, lyricist, and Dr. Gabor Mate's son, Daniel Mate. Thank you both so much for joining us here on the stream today. I would like to first ask you, you have been very vocal about your support for Palestine throughout the years. Why is it important to do that right now, despite the backlash from the Jewish community, especially, and obviously, in view of what's been happening in Gaza and in occupied territories? Gabor, can I get you to go first? It's important if you care about justice. It's important if you care about truth. It's important if you care about the emotional, spiritual, physical well-being of all people around the world, including the Jewish people. So it's not a question of taking sides, it's a question of being concerned with the fate of humanity. And Palestine right now is a focal point. It's a focus for all that is troubling and threatening humanity. So in supporting Palestinian rights, one is supporting human rights for everybody around the world. Daniel, what is your take? Why is it important for you to speak up? I'm not sure I can do better or even improve on my dad's answer there. I can speak for myself why it's important to speak up. It's a matter of my own sanity. The horrors that have been unfolding in Gaza, or I should say, sort of exploding in Gaza, since October 7th, and I say that because those horrors have existed there and have perpetrated there, primarily by Israel, for a long time. They've just accelerated and amplified exponentially in the last 10 months. I can't believe I'm using the number 10 to describe the number of months it's been going on. But to see them is to... Unless you're captured, I think, by an ideology that numbs you to the pain of the Palestinian people and that compels you to see only Jewish suffering and only a particular version of Jewish suffering, then to look what's happening in the face is to feel a deep revulsion, horror, perhaps anger, deep grief and sadness. But also, I think, in the face of the propaganda that has been unleashed by Israel and its enabler, the United States and Western media in general, there's a reaction that I've had and that many people I know have had, which is a kind of am I going crazy feeling. And in speaking out about it, in naming what we're seeing, I think we're keeping ourselves as well as we can. And I think that's important. I would like to ask Gabor about Jewish suffering. I mean, you are a Holocaust survivor. You went through that horrific chapter in our history. You lost loved ones, and yet you don't use it to justify what's currently happening, like many other people actually do. I would like to ask you why you think that is. Did you do a lot of work in terms of identifying that pain and trying to heal that trauma? As a physician and a healer, I work with trauma a lot. And many people, individually and collectively, have been traumatized in this world. But you don't use one trauma to justify another trauma. You don't use one trauma to make it OK that other people should be traumatized. So yes, as an infant, I almost lost my life during the Holocaust, and my grandparents died in Auschwitz. But that in no way justifies the death of a single Palestinian child in Gaza or anywhere else. So you simply do not use somebody's trauma to make it acceptable that somebody else should be hurt. And furthermore, the Jewish trauma that has occurred historically, and specifically during the Holocaust, is not answered, is not solved, is not salved, is not healed by traumatizing another people. In fact, it makes it worse. In fact, it makes it worse. Daniel, would you say you, I don't know, inherited some of that trauma? And would you say that, at least in part of your life, that shaped your views, shaped your opinions about the world? And how and when did that shift happen? How do you come to see things the way you see them now? Well, I inherited a lot. And I inherited a complicated cocktail, I would say, of perspectives. Some informed by trauma, some informed by deep moral principle and a very strong activist tradition in my family that we all take a lot of pride in, both my father and his brothers. And it's just an ethic in the Mate family that we're here to do our small, but to the maximum of our ability, our part to make the world less conducive to the sorts of horrors that nearly wiped out our bloodline and nearly resulted in me not existing. But in terms of how I see the situation, although I went to a Zionist summer camp as a kid, I also had an anti, I won't say anti-Zionist, but I will say anti-occupation, anti-oppression of the Palestinians' father to counterbalance that. So I never fully bought in to the narrative that the mainstream Jewish community was trying to sell to me, which was that the history of the Jewish people is one of suffering and anti-Semitism culminating in the redemption of the creation of the Zionist state of Israel. It never felt right to me. And so it didn't take too much. It took reading scholars like Noam Chomsky, brave Israeli journalists like Yaron Levy and Amir Haas, and of course, Palestinian voices like Rashid Khalidi and many, many others to show me that there's just a whole set of facts that if you grow up in the Zionist circles, you will not know them because you won't want to know them. But if you know them, you can't unknow them. And it changes everything. We have reached out to our community and asked if they wanted to ask you about the state of the world these days. And we received a bunch of questions for you guys. This is what Yipeng shared with us. Take a look. A question that I have for both Dr. Matei and Daniel is the conflation of anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism and the weaponization of anti-Semitism in the context of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Would you be able to share your reflections on the realities of this weaponization of anti-Semitism, as well as the conflation of this feeling of quote-unquote unsafe with that of being uncomfortable confronting one's privilege of bearing witness to ongoing genocide and apartheid conditions in Palestine? Daniel, can I get you to share your thoughts on that? Yeah, certainly. Well, first of all, the conflation of anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism stems inexorably, in fact, ineluctably from the conflation of Zionism and Judaism. So if you believe, as Zionist propaganda would have it and tries to drill into the heads of young Jewish North Americans like I was, that to be Jewish is to be identified with this modern, highly militarized, nationalistic, and racist apartheid state, then of course any criticism of that state by the transitive principle will mean that you're attacking all Jews. But if you don't accept that frankly anti-Semitic premise because it supposes that Jews have no identity other than a national one and that the anti-Semites all throughout history were correct that we don't belong anywhere, that we should be segregated into ghettos and other contained spaces of just us, which is essentially what Israel is. It's a ghetto with nuclear weapons. Then if you don't accept that premise, then you're going to forcefully reject the notion that to criticize it is to malign the Jewish people. Israel doesn't speak for me. It doesn't act for me. And the notion that if someone objects to starving an entire population, murdering tens to hundreds of thousands of people, dispossessing close to a million people, and then reinforcing that and what can I say, reimposing that trauma every day of the last 75 years, if anyone objects to that, hates me, well that's actually an anti-Semitic principle and I reject it. Israel is a distortion at best of what Jewishness and Judaism are supposed to be. It's a complete misdirection and I see it as the number one threat to the safety and physical and mental and emotional and spiritual well-being of Jews everywhere. Gabor, you have a question now from Colby actually, take a look. I was hoping you could discuss and shed light onto the trauma that these infants in Gaza and these young children are going through and will have for the rest of their life and what can be done about it. It's going to be horrible. There were studies of Palestinian kids done over 20 years ago now that showed them amongst the most traumatized people in the world with mental health issues and behavior problems and physical problems and post-traumatic symptoms, a large percentage of them. What can we imagine is going to be the impact when so many of them are traumatized now, orphaned right now, physically hurt right now, emotionally devastated right now. The Palestinian healthcare system, which they're rightly very proud of, was struggling at the best of times to deal with the trauma to their children. Their future is almost unimaginable. They're struggling to deal with every single wound right now. Daniel, here's Katie with a very interesting question and it touches on some of the things that you've already mentioned, take a look. I'd really love for you both to speak to the ways that your Jewish values have actually allowed you to interrogate Zionism and unpack Zionism for yourselves. What wisdom have you taken from Judaism? What messages have you taken from Jewish culture that you think have benefited you and your capacity for social justice, capacity for unlearning propaganda and ability to interrogate the brutality and violence of the state of Israel? There's just a deep well of compassion that the Jewish tradition has. I believe the Hebrew word is rachamim. It's said over and over again in Hebrew liturgy, in Hebrew scripture and prayer. It relates very much to an Arabic word that is spoken all the time in Muslim prayers as well. There are other Jewish values that inform me in particular. One is, if I could say, it's the superpower of irony. What I mean by that is by being outsiders, by virtue of being outsiders throughout history, Jews have been able to look askance at prevailing wisdom and mainstream assumptions because we're looking at it slightly skewed, slightly from the outside. Of course, we've been at the receiving end of what power does to people and how it corrupts moral values. A wry sense of humor and ability to see through BS, I think, has served our people very well. I myself now am the co-host of a satirical podcast called Bad Hasbara, where all we do, me and another Jewish comedian, Matt Lieb, is every week the Israeli propaganda machine serves us up more and more Bad Hasbara, bad propaganda to killery and make fun of. I think that's an important skill, being able to see contradictions and hypocrisy and see where not just the emperor but the empire has no clothes. Lastly, just a sense of justice, righteousness, tzedek, a sense of being called to repair the world and bring it more into alignment with what it was created for. I'd like to invite you now to watch two recent news events related to Israel's war on Gaza and then get your reaction. First, here's Israel's Prime Minister, Netanyahu, speaking to the US Congress. America and Israel must stand together. Daniel, this was just a little fraction of what was speech punctuated by standing ovations. I'd like to know if you were watching and what were your thoughts when watching that speech? You know, I couldn't subject myself to the entire thing. I don't watch cringe television and the whole thing is so completely cringey. It looks like we're looking at a shot of the Washington Aquarium with all those trained clapping seals, clapping for that genocidal warmonger who has nothing but contempt for them and us here. What can I say? It's abominable that this person is welcomed into the highest halls of power and that he's subjected to that kind of fawning adulation. And I have to give my utmost respect to the one Democratic member of Congress who dared both show up and oppose, which is Rashida Tlaib, who held up a sign saying war criminal. That is the least he deserves in terms of rebuke and a cold, cold welcome. Now, Gabor, we have a short sequence of the mass displacement of Palestinians inside the Gaza Strip. Take a look. Here are families being told to evacuate hundreds. And you have been to Gaza and to the West Bank. You know these places. When you see scenes like this one, what goes through your mind? Well, on the pictorial level, it's impossible for me not to see this as reminiscent of so many other situations in history, including situations when Jews had to flee their places because of threat. But on the other hand, it's what's been going on for so long. So the transfer and the displacement of the indigenous population has been discussed as part of the Zionist project going back for well over 100 years. So in a sense, this is the culmination and the apotheosis, you might say, of the essence of the Zionist intent, which is to keep these places to these people, to make life impossible for them so that all the land could be available for Jewish occupation and settlement. So in that sense, it's just the most concrete and the most recent and the most brutal, but certainly not the first manifestations of the essence of Zionist ideology. And anybody who doesn't see that just hasn't studied history. Can I ask you briefly to describe what your trips to Gaza, to the West Bank, were like? I remember reading somewhere that you said you cried for days witnessing the level of violence, the level of suffering of the people. The first time I went to the West Bank in Gaza was during the first day of the fight when the situation was a lot better than it is right now. And even then, I cried every day for two weeks because I just couldn't believe that somehow I used to believe that this was justice, that this was history, that this was the salvation of the Jewish people. So you used to see the suffering imposed on the Palestinians. Most recently, I was back there two years ago in the West Bank. I was working with Palestinian women who had been tortured in Israeli jails and were suffering post-traumatic stress disorder. And again, it's almost difficult to put it into words. And all I can say to anybody is, if you don't know what's going on, if you want to know what's going on, visit, see for yourself. Of course, you can't visit Gaza right now, but anybody who goes to the West Bank listens to the Palestinians. I remember when I was in Gaza back in the 1990s and people were living on these cement hovels. And they said to me, just tell them, tell them what it's like for us. Tell them what happened to us. Tell our stories. And those stories still have not been told. And now we're seeing it played out every day on our screens. And people are still not listening. It's infuriating, to say the least. We are approaching the end of the show, but before we go, we have a few more questions from our community. Here's Nick from Let's Give a Damn. Take a look. We demand a free Palestine. I demand this every single day in a variety of ways. And I know you do too. But what does it mean for you, practically, as anti-Zionist Jews? What does it mean for Palestine to be free? Especially now that we know more clearly than ever that Israel does not want to live in peace with Palestinians and wants to remove them from their land and annihilate them if they don't leave. I know it's all theory at this point, but lots of theories have been shared. So in your opinion, what will it take, very practically, for Palestine to be free? Daniel, what is your take? What will it take for Palestine to be free? I try not to venture into having a political program or political platform because if I wanted that, I would go into politics and learn to lie about it for a living. I truly don't know what freedom will take. I know that certain things would have to end in order for that to be the case. What would replace them is an open question. I have my own vision of an egalitarian society from the river to the sea where Jews, at least those who can divest themselves and disabuse themselves of Zionist racist ideology, are free to live in peace and equality, one person, one vote, and equal rights for all with the Palestinians of that land. And of course, there would have to be a lot of truth and a lot of reconciliation, such as happened in South Africa and other places. But the occupation has to end. The siege has to end. Israel's apartheid mentality and infrastructure and policies is going to have to crumble. I shudder to think of what it's going to take. And I sometimes don't know what to hope for. Societies like Israel, who have gone completely mad, often take a catastrophic defeat on the order of a bloodbath in order to wake up and give up the ghost. I pray that that's not what it takes. And at the same time, the status quo can't continue. So if I think of, I think maybe the question, the way I would reframe the question is not exactly what framework do I see, but what would Palestine be free from? A free Palestine, it would be free from racism, be free from supremacy of anyone over anyone. And then what would it be free to do? It would be free to actually become a land that lives up to its reputation and its name and its tradition as a holy one and an embodiment of the best that humanity has to offer. And for that to happen, the apartheid regime of Israel has to be dismantled in some form or another and reconstitute itself as something closer to what humanity is actually capable of. Very well put. Gabor, here's one final question for you. Here's Gabriel. Take a listen. I know that healing is an individual thing, right? But healing is also a collective thing, something that happens collectively. How do we, after the war is over, hopefully sooner than later, meet the needs of the kids, the adults who have been suffering from this war? And how do we both meet individually and how do we heal as a society? You know, it's all matter of conditions and under the present conditions of the siege mentality inside Israel, where people see themselves as constantly under threat and they don't understand how their society is creating the threat to itself by how it treats the Palestinian population and the rest of the Middle East. Until we have conditions of peace, we can't even conceive of what healing might look like. But if people are no longer under threat and no longer perceive themselves under threat, and that means ending the occupation, ending the apartheid, ending the racism, ending the situation where Daniel and I could fly to Israel tomorrow and become citizens the day after whereas Palestinians were born there, can't even visit. Until we end that situation, we can't even talk about healing. If there was peace, if there was the sense of threat removed, then healing is possible both on the collective and on the individual level. Well, for that healing to even begin, peace needs to actually prevail. Thank you both so much, Gabor and Daniel, for being part of the stream today. And thank you all for watching. Don't forget to stay in touch with us online. You can send us your questions and suggestions with the hashtag or the handle AJStream and we'll look into them. Take care and I'll see you soon.

Israel will fight until we destroy Hamas's military capabilities, end its rule in Gaza, and bring all our hostages home. Since Hamas's attack on October 7th, Israel has been laying waste to the Gaza Strip. Tens of thousands killed, and the Israeli government now accused of committing genocide. But what can the history of the conflict tell us about how we got here? My guest tonight is the famously provocative Israeli historian, Benny Morris. His work once documented many of the crimes committed by Israel in 1948, but his critics say he now justifies those crimes. I'm Ali Hassan, and I'm here in London's legendary free speech society, Conway Hall, to go head-to-head with Benny Morris. I'll challenge him on his support for the war on Gaza, and ask him why he thinks accusations of genocide are absurd. Tonight, I'll be joined by our panel of experts, Daniel Levy, a former Israeli peace negotiator and president of the US-Middle East Project, Diana Butu, the Palestinian lawyer and former advisor to the PLO, and Emmanuel Navarne, an Israeli lecturer of diplomatic studies at Tel Aviv University. Benny Morris, thank you for joining me on Head-to-Head. You are a supporter, a defender of Israel's current war on Gaza, which began in its current form after the atrocities on October 7th, and which has since killed more than 38,000 Palestinians, including 15,000 children, displaced more than a million people, made Gaza uninhabitable per the UN, and is being investigated as a possible genocide at the International Court of Justice. A lot of people around the world think it's a genocide. I happen to think it's a genocide. But you have called that accusation absurd. Why? Well, I once investigated a real genocide by Muslim Turks against the Christian communities of Turkey around the year 1900. Some two million Christians were killed at the time by Muslim Turks. And that's what the genocide actually looks like. What's happening in Gaza is a war. It's a war in which there are a lot of collateral deaths among Gazans. The war started, of course, by the Hamas from Gaza in a giant massacre on October 7th. And the only way to respond to that, and any country would have responded to that, more or less in the same fashion, I think, was to try and go after the Hamas. But the Hamas was embedded in the population, as you know, used the schools, the UNRWA schools, the hospitals as bases, as places where they stocked their ammunition, their guns themselves, hidden in tunnels underneath these schools, in apartment buildings. And this all involved collateral damage, which, of course, the Hamas knew it was going to ignite by killing 1,200 Israelis on the 7th of October. I, myself, have problems with the war as it's being waged. But genocide, it definitely isn't. The aim here is not to kill as many Palestinians. That's not the definition of genocide. You wrote a book on genocide. That's not the definition of genocide. It's one of the definitions. It's not. It's not based on numbers. It's also based on intent and on numbers. It's based on the intent. It's destroy, to kill in whole or in part. There's no intent here. I'm not a government spokesman. You seem to be presenting me as a government spokesman. I asked you for your view on the war. I didn't say anything. Well, come to the government. I'm just asking about your view right now. The definition of genocide, you wrote a book on it, has nothing to do with how many people you killed. So it's not a numbers game. It's also a numbers game. The ICC chief prosecutor has asked for arrest warrants, not just for Hamas leaders, but for the Israeli prime minister and the defense minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity. And he says he has mountains of evidence. We've all seen with our own eyes the Israelis, in Gaza, commit war crimes on camera, kill unarmed people who are carrying white flags, blow up apartment buildings, drop 2,000 pound bombs on crowded refugee camps. Can we at least agree, Ben, even if we're going to disagree on genocide, that Israel has committed numerous war crimes since the Hamas war crimes on October 7th? I'm fairly sure there have been war crimes. But the war itself is not a war crime, as the Hamas attack on Israel on the 7th of October was. It was a war crime from beginning to end. The aim was to kill as many civilians as possible, which they did, in accordance with the Hamas charter, which is to kill basically every Jew you can get hold of in Palestine. But I didn't ask about the aim. I asked about the acts that are being committed. As I said, probably there have been, as in all wars, war crimes. You've said there have been war crimes? Yes. So you would support an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu? I didn't say that. Why? Firstly, there hasn't been an arrest warrant. So far, they haven't issued it. I don't know if you can hold the Prime Minister responsible if a sergeant kills several unarmed people intentionally. You don't think the Israeli Air Force bombing apartment buildings, refugee camps, mosques, cemeteries, hospitals, schools, universities, libraries? Firstly, it hasn't bombed, as far as I know, hospitals. They have attacked... No expert agrees with you on that. That's not true. What you're saying is not true. The only hospital which I remember being bombed was by a rocket fired by the Islamic Jihad, by mistake. As far as I remember. Israel has raided hospitals. Let me talk. Israel has raided hospitals with infantry, found Hamas people in their Hamas headquarters, inside hospitals, under hospitals. Actually, we've never seen the headquarters of Benjamin Netanyahu. We've never actually seen that. It's been several months. We're still waiting for that. So, on the 31st of October, according to Human Rights Watch, Israeli forces unlawfully attacked a six-story residential building, killing 106 civilians, including 54 children, without warning. Four strikes, completely demolished. Human Rights Watch found no evidence of a military target in the vicinity, making the strike unlawful, indiscriminate under the laws of war. Israeli authorities have provided no justification for the attack. Hamas always hides their own... Even the Israelis didn't say that they were hiding in the apartment building. You said you don't want to be a spokesman for the government. You're offering a better defence to the government than the government is. I don't know. I don't know the particulars of that particular attack. It could be that there was a war crime committed there. All you see is civilians. Benny, Benny, Benny, I'm not a Palestinian journalist. I'm a foreign journalist. And guess what? We're not allowed in by the Israelis. They are hiding... So, let me ask you this moment. I agree we should allow people in. Do you agree with me? I agree with you. Let me tell you something about the Israeli Air Force, if we're going to be talking about this. Each mission of the Israeli Air Force, and it's probably the most accurate and efficient arm of the Israeli military, is checked beforehand by a lawyer, et cetera, to see if there are actual... Is there evidence... Yes, I'm so glad you're pointing this out. Because it's not a rogue operation. It goes all the way up, so we can indict Netanyahu for these attacks. Because it's got... Come on. It's not a rogue sergeant. It's not a rogue sergeant. We agree. All right. You say it's not genocide. Can we at least agree that it's genocidal rhetoric and genocidal intent from various members of the Israeli government? Can we agree that the rhetoric from Netanyahu and Herzog and Smotrich, this is genocidal rhetoric? Some of the ministers, I'm not sure about Herzog's quotes, and I'm not sure about what Netanyahu said. Netanyahu said, Amalek, Benny. You know what Amalek means. I don't know if that's the same as genocide, but... Killing every man, woman, and child, and the donkeys. Listen, there's something really absurd about this line of questioning. If Israel was intent on genocide, if... Hold on. Can you let him speak? Would you let me talk? Can you let him speak? Yes. Guys, guys, guys. We are going to have to stop the entire show, and you will all have to go home if you do not have some order. Benny, please finish your point. If there was a genocidal intent in the war making in Gaza, it would be not 30,000... Incidentally, the numbers are all issued by Hamas. We don't know how true they are. But if there was genocidal intent by the Israeli government with the Israeli military machine to commit genocide in Gaza, it would not be 30,000 or 20,000 Gazans. There would be hundreds of thousands of Gazans. I'm sure... That is called genocide, and that's not what's happening in Gaza. Benny, we've already discussed that's not the definition of genocide. But OK, let me ask you this. That's not your definition of genocide. No, it's the 1948 Genocide Convention. There's lots of different... Forget it. There are 1948 Genocide Conventions. There are lots of definitions. That's not true, Benny. There's only one. There's only one. It's the 1948 Genocide Convention. That sounds dogmatic. There's only one. Only one truth, the Hamas truth. Sound the same. Is the 1948 Genocide Convention a Hamas charter? Is everything Hamas, Benny? If there is a genocidal side in this battle, it is the Hamas. OK, let me ask you this. Just look at its charter. Read the words there. By the way, Benny, I've interviewed people from Hamas and I've asked them about the charter. I'm interviewing you right now. I'm sure they do. Israeli minister called Avi Dikter, a member of the Security Cabinet, he said we're now rolling out the Gaza Nakba. He was referring to the Nakba, the catastrophe of 1948, when an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes. You famously documented a lot of that back in the 80s. You undermined a lot of Israeli propaganda that said they just fled on their own. So whether it's the 1948 Nakba or the 2024 Gaza Nakba, to quote Avi Dikter, for Palestinians, Zionism is Nakba. It is ethnic cleansing. Surely you of all people can recognize that. I'm not sure I can recognize that, no. You keep putting words in my mouth. 1937-1938, Zionism changed and said, we can't have all of the land. There are a lot of Palestinians here. Let's share it with the Palestinians. In 1937, the British Peel Commission proposed the partition of Palestine between the two peoples living in it. The Palestinians said no and continued their war against Britain and the Zionists. The Zionists said yes to the partition proposal by Peel. The international community repeated the idea of the partition of Palestine between the Jews and the Arabs in 1947, November, the famous Resolution 181. The Jews said yes to the UN partition resolution of 1947, accepting it. They would get some of Palestine, the Palestinian Arabs would get the other part, and the Palestinians said no and started shooting the next day, killing Jews. So this is one of the reasons I wanted to interview you. Because I know some of the history. You do know some of the history. And you said they all shared. But the problem is, I don't know which Benny Morris I'm speaking to because you're saying they all wanted to share the land. And yet, I have a book here that says, on the most basic level, Jewish colonization meant expropriation and displacement. Zionist ideology in practice were necessarily and elementally expansionist. Zionism was a colonizing and expansionist ideology. That's righteous by Benny Morris. And I am glad that I'm able to share with you things I've written. Because you were right in 2001. And I agree with every word in there. But as I said, Zionism changed its objective and goal in the 1930s and agreed reluctantly, resigned to the idea of partitioning the land. And from that point on, the Zionists, a number of times, in 37, 47, the year 2008, proposed partitioning Palestine with the Palestinians. And the Palestinians consistently have rejected partition under the Hamas Palestinians and under the PLO Fatah as well. They always rejected partition. Let me ask you this. That's the truth, the basic truth of the conflict. Zionists are willing to compromise. And the Palestinians always say no. Yes, go ahead. I want to read a quote out to you. You keep saying lots of positive stuff. They're sharing, dividing. I want to read a quote to you. There are circumstances in history that justify ethnic cleansing. That is not a quote from Slobodan Milosevic. That is not a quote from a Rwandan. It's not a quote. You no longer just document ethnic cleansing. You apologize. What's the context of what I quote? The context is you're asked, you condemn what they did in 1948, Zionist militias. You say no. You're asked, they perpetrated ethnic cleansing. You say there are circumstances in history that justify ethnic cleansing. What was the circumstance I'm talking about? You say, I know that this term is completely negative. When the choice is between ethnic cleansing and genocide, the annihilation of your people, I prefer ethnic cleansing. So the Jews understood in 48, the Jews were under threat of annihilation by the Arabs. And that, in my view, legitimized, justified cleansing Arabs from Palestine. The Jews were threatened with death by a second genocide after the ninth genocide. The Hutus said exactly the same thing about the Hutus in 1994. No, they said, we can ethnically cleanse and kill people because they're threatening us. No, I didn't say threatening. I said the Arabs of Palestine attacked the Jewish community in Palestine from 1947 on. That doesn't justify ethnic cleansing, right? You can't justify a war crime against humanity. Ethnic cleansing is not regarded as a war crime by any... So you're fine with it? It's not a matter of fine. It's not a matter of I prefer ethnic cleansing over the other to being massacred by my own people. Yes, sure. Even if that involves innocent people being driven from their own land and not allowed to come back. Yes, if you're... How's that fit with Zionists wanting to share the land? Of course the Zionists want it. No, you're mixing up the times, the chronology. The Zionists were willing to share the land. The Arabs said no. The Arabs attacked them. And from that point on, the Jews, to defend themselves properly, they would have to drive out Arabs from certain areas from which the Arabs were attacking the Jewish... So it was a pragmatic thing in the heat of war? It wasn't ideological. It was pragmatic. Even though you yourself say the transfer was inevitable and inbuilt into Zionism. Your words. It depends what you mean by transfer. It depends what you mean by transfer. You're the one who's... No, no, no. It depends what part of the population we're talking about. Total transfer was never any part of Zionist... Partial transfer. Partial transfer from areas in which the Jews wanted to establish their state in part of Palestine and from which the Arabs was busy attacking the Jews. OK, I want to bring in the panel. Before I do, a lot of talk about whether Zionism is a form of colonialism. If I said to you Zionism is something colonial, what would you say to that? I would say there's some partial truth in it, but on large, it's wrong. It's not a correct interpretation. Those are Daniel Herzl's words. He wrote a letter to Cecil Rhodes, the founder of Rhodesia in Zimbabwe. He said it's something colonial. OK. So maybe you should take it up with... OK, I can take it up with Herzl. Herzl may have said that in order to... Not may, he did say that. No, no. In an effort to ingratiate himself with a great colonizer, Rhodes, it's possible. That's not the point. The point is... You don't allow me to finish my sentence. I do, please. No, you continuously interrupt. I'm trying to do what Trump did to Biden. Wow, I've never been compared to Trump before. That's a first. Please, you've actually got more time to finish your sentence. In order to mess up your sentences, Zionism intended to liberate the Jews from the alienation and oppression under which they lived in Eastern Europe, also later Central Europe, by establishing a state of the Jews, with the majority of Jews with Jews ruling over themselves. They ended up, in part, realising that dream, dream at the expense of Palestinians. This is correct. This is what happened, as it turned out. We'll end on a point of agreement and bring in our panel. We have Diana Butu, who's a Palestinian lawyer in Israel, former advisor to the PLO. Emanuel Navon is an international relations lecturer at Tel Aviv University. Daniel Levy is a former Israeli peace negotiator, president of the US Middle East Peace Project. Diana, I'm interested in hearing what you have to say about genocide, because we started the show talking about genocide. Benny adamantly says it's absurd. There's many definitions. You're a lawyer. What do you make of that? Look, Benny is exactly what I expect him to be, which is a genocide denier and a genocide apologist. Every human rights organisation has been defining this as a genocide. We have the ICJ that has come out and said that there's a plausible case for genocide, and yet we're to believe the Israelis, the only people who say that it isn't a genocide. Israel's allowed to be a coloniser. Israel's allowed to do what it pleases, and that Palestinians just have to sit by idly and take it. And this is the fundamental problem with Zionism. But we, Palestinians, are the ones who feel Zionism on our bodies. We've paid for it with our lives. We've paid for it with our land. This attempt to redefine Zionism will go nowhere, because you know, and the world knows, it's a below-world situation. All right, Emanuel, you teach international relations in Israel. Is there a recognition there that a lot of the world, well, governments, allies of Israel, as well as the usual human rights groups, are very critical, at a minimum, of the way Israel's prosecuting what's going on in Gaza? Well, first of all, Diana said we're feeling Zionism. You're right, you're feeling it, because the only place in the Middle East where Arabs are free is Israel. And so the freedom that you have, Diana, is because the only country in the Middle East where there is freedom is the state of Israel, from which you benefit, and you should be thankful for it. I'm not ready. Because the only country in the Middle East where Arabs can elect their officials, be elected, be judges at the Supreme Court, be president of a university, the only free country in the Middle East is Israel. Dan, do you want to respond to that? I find it staggering that the gentleman to my right is telling the Palestinian citizen of Israel how she is experiencing the reality under which she lives. It's a staggering moment for me. Now, you know, there were different strands to Zionism, OK? There was a cultural Zionism. There was a binational Zionism. This could have gone in different directions. From the perspective of 2024, 75-plus years in, the idea that this is just something benign doesn't match with the reality that has been lived. Now, I would say it's clear what this has meant for Palestinians, but I would argue it's not doing what was written on the tin for Jews either. I don't think either Israeli Jewish or global Jewish safety is best served by the actions we see day in, day out in Gaza. Would you like to respond to what you've heard from the panel? Please. I think there's a misunderstanding here. There's a separation between Israel and the West Bank. Israel, an occupied territory largely populated by the Palestinians and the state of Israel. In Israel itself, there is a rule of law. There is generally equality between the Jews and the Arabs. And you're misrepresenting it when you say that they are persecuted. And he's damn right in what he says. All the Arab states are dictatorships which do not allow their citizens any freedom. And Israeli Arabs enjoy most of the rights they may be discriminated against in certain things. But they may enjoy certain rights which Jews do not have. For instance, not serving three years, wasting three years in the army, for example. Israeli Arabs don't do that. We don't want that. No, no, no, it's fine. I'm pretty sure most Palestinians are not desperate to serve in the Israeli military. I'm sure you're right. Thank you for all your questions. In pre-1967 Zionism in Israel, it was not a colonial enterprise. In the West Bank, there is a colonizing and colonial framework, which is even apartheid-like in its actual workings. But in pre-1967 Israel, that was not the case. And for the first 100 years or so of Zionism, it wasn't a colonial venture. It wasn't a venture of an extension of an imperial. Let me just define colonialism since you're so busy defining genocide. Imperialism and colonialism were matched together in which an imperial empire sent its children to dominate and take over a third world country and exploit its riches and its people. This is not what Israel did until 1967. Do you agree with Benny that there is a colonial aspect and apartheid aspect to the occupied West Bank? No. Zionism is a national liberation movement that freed its land from Arab Muslim colonialism. How do you think Islam expanded itself from the Arab peninsula to Indonesia, from Indonesia to Morocco? Not from the Holy Spirit. This was conquest and colonialism. OK, we are out of time. I'm going to give Deanna the last word before we go take a break. OK, so now we have a Nakba denier and a Nakba apologist, as well as a genocide denier, genocide apologist. The point of the matter is that Palestinians have always paid the price for Israel's colonial ventures. My family pales for hundreds of years from Palestine. And what happened in 1948 was my family was ethnically cleansed from Palestine. Where? From Al-Majid. Never able to return back to their home. My father died, unable to return back to his village because of the colonialism that is called Zionism. There is no place for Zionism in this country. We are way over on time. Daniel, 30 seconds if you want to come in. What's remarkable to me is we've gone from denying the Nakba, and Benny Morris actually helped get past that, to threatening a second Nakba. And that's the narrative in Israel today without going through what's most necessary, which is acknowledging and healing and redressing and Palestinians actually getting their rights. Because without that, not only will Palestinians never see peace and security and the achievement of freedom, but Jewish Israelis will always live in the knowledge that that wrong will create a blowback and there's no security whatsoever. That is it for part one of Head to Head with our special guest Benny Morris. In part two, we'll be talking about what is happening inside of Israeli society. We'll be talking a bit more about Benny Morris's views. And we'll hear from our, I was going to say, patient audience at Conway Hall, but they're not so patient tonight. That's in part two of Head to Head. Welcome back to Head to Head on Al Jazeera English. I'm with my guest, Benny Morris, one of Israel's most famous historians. We have a panel of experts. And we have a live audience here in London's Conway Hall, who we'll be hearing from shortly. Benny Morris, in part one of the show, we argued, you and I, about genocide, about ethnic cleansing, about the Nakba. Can we start, part two, Benny, by agreeing, both of us, on something that Israel has seen in recent years? A pretty serious, severe, brazen shift to the right, some would say, far right, with the likes of Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gavir in the cabinet, a lot of fanatical settlers inciting violence in the occupied West Bank. According to some polls, 60% of Israelis do say it's better for there to be segregation between the two societies. 48%, according to one poll a few years ago, supported the expulsion of Palestinian citizens of Israel. What is going on in Israel? Israel has turned, definitely, to the right. It's partly to do with demography. More religious people are born, more than secular people. I would say, also, unfortunately, more Sephardi people are born than Ashkenazi secular people. I would say that, in addition to the demographic shift, which has taken place in the last 20, 30, 40 years, continuous Arab terrorism and Arab reluctance to reach a compromise has also driven Israelis to the right. You've also been critical of the far right in Israel, as we just heard you say. Very critical. You've called Netanyahu cowardly and incompetent. But you, yourself, have been criticized by some on the left, both in Israel and abroad, for your own views. And I just want to get through some of them with you. Because you've said what many would say are racist things about Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims. You've called them barbarians. You've said they have no moral inhibitions. You've said they ought to be caged. You've said Palestinian citizens of Israel are a time bomb, a fifth column, the adversary of the enemy. I got the gist. Kind of what the audience needs to hear. You say you're a liberal, and you believe in the peace process. A lot of Palestinians would say, how do we make peace with people who say they're liberal Zionists, and they think of us in this way. It's quite a question of quoting out of context, which you are indulging in. Those who blew up buses and restaurants in Israel during the second intifada, I'm talking about both Hamas and Fatah terrorists, I called barbarians, and they behaved like barbarians. You didn't call all of them barbarians? No, I didn't. You did, in 2004, in Haaretz. The Arab world, as it is today, is barbarian. That's true. The Arab world, I didn't say all Arabs are barbarians. I said the Arab world is barbarian in its behavior. Have a look at Syria, where the regime killed about half a million people in its civil war, trying to suppress an uprising. Look at Sudan, where the Arabs are busy killing blacks in Darfur. Look at Libya, where they're killing each other. They throw bombs at funeral cortages. Look at Iraq. They behave like barbarians. If somebody said to you, and I would say this is anti-Semitic, if somebody said to you the Jews are barbarians, the Jewish world is barbarian, I think you would agree that's anti-Semitic. And if somebody said, well, I'm not being anti-Semitic, I'm just talking about the IDF. I don't think it would be anti-Semitic. It would be false. That's the point. You don't think it would be anti-Semitic for me to say the Jewish world is barbarian? It would be false, not necessarily anti-Semitic. And when you say the Israeli Arabs are a time bomb, they're a potential fifth column, all of them. I said Israel's Arab minority, which identifies in large measure with the Palestinian cause, is, in the long historical perspective, a potential time bomb. Yes, I would agree with that. You said they're a potential fifth column. Or a potential fifth column, yes. An emissary of the enemy that is among us. This is vicious stuff. I don't remember using the word enemy. Whether you remember it or not is irrelevant. You said it. Their slide into complete Palestinization has made them an emissary of the enemy that is among us. It's vicious stuff. During the Second Intifada, when there were riots by Israeli Arabs blocking of roads, et cetera, they behaved like an emissary of the enemy. This is correct. It depends on context. You keep quoting things without explaining the context. I'm not sure there is any context for dismissing an entire people as a fifth column. Nobody is... OK, go ahead. All right, let's talk about some other views of yours, which are somewhat controversial, many would say. You're not just somebody who said some... You don't actually want any facts from me or any explanations of anything. You just explained it just very well. You're just Iraqis who drove off. You just want to accuse. I'm not accusing you. This isn't really an interview. This is basically blame-throwing and interrogation. You don't like defending your views? I don't like defending my views. I'm able to defend my views, but come up with these quotations which are out of context. Don't explain the historical context. The audience doesn't understand what you're talking about. I just read the entire quote to you. I read the entire quote to you. And then you used the word racist, which you used at the beginning when you introduced this. Yeah, you said... OK, here's something else you said. You said, we're talking about murder in far larger numbers. It's not a matter of money, referring to Palestinians in Israel. It's the society's nature. Yes, I would say that's a racist comment to say an entire society has a murderous nature. During the second intifada... This was said in 2019, Benny, not in the second intifada. That's not my fault if you can't remember when you said things. In 2019, you said, this is not about... We're talking about murder. It's the society's nature. The murder of who? The murder rates in Israel. The same applies, incidentally, to the killing of women. The same applies to honour murders, which are called honour killings, when a woman shows too much leg or looks at a man the wrong way. This is, unfortunately, inherent in Arab societies in general in the Middle East, and among Israeli Arabs as well. That's the context. I know that's true. I know that's true. You are a racist. Is that true or not? You are a racist. Is it true? We will bring in the analysts. Is it true you are a racist? Is it true you are a racist? You actually just made a racist comment about what you said. Benny, I will let Diana respond in a moment. You can't tell me you don't want heckling from the audience. Engage when we talk. I'm talking to you. We'll come to the audience. OK. One last question. You can do what you want. One last question. It's a free country, as they say. Let me ask you this. It's not just the racism that you've been accused of. You've also been accused of war mongering. You just recently wrote a Haaretz column in June where you said Israel should consider nuking Iran to prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons. Not even Benjamin Netanyahu has said that. You said it. Well, he's more responsible. He's the Prime Minister. So you're irresponsible? Yes. I mean, nuking an entire country. That is not what's written in the article. You misquoted everything you said. I almost said it. What the context is is destroying the Iranian nuclear facilities. That's the context. With nukes? Yes, with nukes. But not destroying Iran, as you just said, I said. You think dropping a nuke on Iran would have a limited effect? Not on Iran. Small nuclear bombs can destroy facilities like Natanz. And you know that. And you've been advocating this for 15 years, right? I've been advocating an Israeli strike against the Iranian nuclear project because Iran says that its policy is to destroy Israel. It doesn't have nukes. If they ever achieve nuclear weaponry, Israel will be immortal. But you didn't say that. You said bomb the Netanyahu in 2008. No, no, no, no. In 2008? You're not telling the truth. You know that. You didn't call for a nuclear strike in 2008 on Iran? No, I didn't. In 2008, I said Israel should destroy the Iranian nuclear installations. With a nuclear strike? No, I didn't say that. This is my problem, Benny. You keep saying that. You don't remember? The New York Times, July the 18th, 2008, an Israeli nuclear strike to prevent the Iranians from taking the final steps towards getting the bomb is probable. I didn't say I support it. I said it's probable. You said the alternative is letting Tehran have its bomb. It's very clear what you said. Now who's playing word games? Israel does not have as part of its policy and doesn't announce as its policy the destruction of Iran. But Iran does say that its policy is to destroy Israel. And they are working diligently to get nuclear weapons. And if the Iranians do achieve nuclear weapons, Israel basically will be finished. That's what the Iranians are aiming at. And using tactical nuclear weapons to destroy the Iranian nuclear installations before they achieve nuclear weaponry, it makes sense to me. It may not make sense to you. Because you're not an Israeli, so you don't care. I'm a human being, so I care about nuclear weapons. I don't know what you care about. I don't know what you care about. Well, you just assumed. Let me go to our panel here. We have Diana Butu, a Palestinian-Iranian Israel former advisor to PLO. We have Daniel Levy, a former Israeli peace negotiator at the US Middle East Project. We have Emmanuel Navan, who is an international relations Diana, I've got to bring you in first, since we got started earlier. Potential fifth column. This is exactly the problem, is that he's a racist. He espouses these racist views. That's the problem with Israel. Israel is a society, a country, that is based on this idea of Jewish supremacy. And anything that they do or say goes. Which means, therefore, that as a Palestinian who lives in that country, who is not enjoying any benefits of so-called democracy, that they get to espouse and tell me how I feel. They get to make statements like we are a fifth column. And they actually treat Palestinians as though they are a fifth column. It's very important, Nathalie, for people to understand that Israel came to us. We didn't immigrate to Israel. Israel is a colonial movement. And as a colonial movement, its aim is to not only get rid of Palestinians, but it's to try to transform the entire place, erase and replace. OK, Emmanuel, I want to ask you this. Do you recognize the shifts that Benny was agreeing on at the start of this segment about what's happening inside of Israeli society? Well, allow me to respond to what Diana has just said. She's not telling the truth. What she's saying is not true. First of all, the Jewish country, I mean, there are over 190 states in the world. Most of them are nation states. It's not about supremacy. It is about national self-determination and freedom. Now, we didn't come to you. This is our land. No, it's not. This is a Jewish land. The way that the state was created was through an act of colonization. First of all, when you say we've been there for hundreds of years, the word Palestine, it's an invention of British colonialism. It was invented in 1920. It did not exist under the Ottoman Empire. So when this story starts, it's a colonial invention. So when you say Palestine, and you can't even pronounce it in Arabic, because there's no P in Arabic. That's why we say Palestine. We did not come to you. All right, Emmanuel, I'm going to bring you back to my question, then move on. What do you make of Bilal al-Smotrich and Itmar Ghebreyev, referring to Arabs in the most dehumanizing race? Are you going to deny that as well? Like every society, we have our extremists. OK. It's a democracy. I don't agree with them. But we have, like every society, we have our extremists. And you're doing government. Yes, but I didn't vote for this government. I wish they were not in the government. Daniel hasn't spoken. Daniel Levy. When I was in a Zionist youth movement and president of the World Union of Jewish Students being pumped with the talking points and the propaganda points, I really think they were more sophisticated. And I may be misremembering this. I cannot, genuinely cannot believe that this is what now constitutes an Israeli attempt at defending and putting your best foot forward. But then I look at the reality in Israel today, and of course that's what it should look like. Because what's the reality we're living in? And let me take two snapshots. First of all, it's really not that surprising that we've got to this point when you consider the impunity with which the external community and Israel's allies and the West and the US treat Israel, despite the litany, the entire spectrum of violations of international law and of human rights. And yet every time there's an excuse, there's a veto at the United Nations, and then there's more answer. In that respect, don't expect Israelis to come up with better talking points when they don't have to, because you're willing to run cover for them and create completely the wrong incentives. OK, but can we respond to this? I must protest. We've got three people in a panel, two of whom are pro-Palestinian, anti-Zionist. That's the purpose of the show, yes. It's supposed to be two against one. I consider myself pro-Human, I consider myself pro-Palestinian. No, no, no, no, no, no. Let me finish, let me finish. You are pro-Palestinian propaganda. That's what you've become, just so that you know that. Let's go around the audience. We're going to try and see where we've got some hands up. We're going to go to the gentleman here, third row with the jacket on. Just if you could say something more from an Israeli perspective, in terms of the threat they face from Hamas as an Islamist movement, which is patiently slaughtered by the Jews in Israel. That's what it says in its charter, never revokes charter. If you could explain that in more detail, please. The Hamas is a small organisation with a small army of terrorists. It doesn't represent, in my view, an existential threat to Israel. But as part of the larger Muslim radical Arab world, that part of it, including Iran, together, they do represent an existential threat to Israel. Israel is not fighting merely the Hamas, it's fighting the Houthis, it's fighting militias in Syria, and Iraq, it's fighting the Hezbollah, orchestrated by the Iranians at the moment, which wants to destroy Israel, yes. Lady here in the third row, on the second. My question is to Diana or Daniel, because I want an honest and truthful answer. Given the decades-long brutality against the Palestinians by the Israeli government, without much regard for international law or consequences, should we have seen the escalation of this genocide coming? And what could be the global implications when states disregard international law to justify and even normalise genocide? Diana, briefly. We've gotten to a point in this world where the world tells us that nothing can justify October 7th, and yet everything that Israel has done since October 7th can be justified by October 7th. That's a distorted world, and we have to understand what this occupation has meant. It's been violent from day one. The Nakba was violent, and what we're seeing today is a continuation of that Nakba. For world order to be restored, we need to have a system where all states are held to account, not where we get to have a country that says, it's time to bomb Iran because they might have a nuclear weapon. Big secret, Israel has a nuclear weapon too. Gentleman in the brown jacket, and then the gentleman here in the blue jumper. I know that we're on Al Jazeera, Qatari station. What do we think about the fact that Qatar has funded Hamas for so long, persecuting girls and Palestinians? And also, we haven't had one mention of the 120 hostages still being kept. What pressure could Qatar be putting on Hamas to release those hostages immediately, regardless of all the rest of this? Well, Qatar has been supporting the Hamas for at least a decade, with money, propaganda, et cetera, et cetera, probably using Al Jazeera also in that fashion. This should end. I think normal states shouldn't support what the world regards, or at least the Western world regards uniformly as a terrorist organisation. It's true that Hamas is still holding 120 Israeli hostages, women, children, octogenarians, two-year-olds and whatever. They had 250 in the beginning, now it's been reduced to 120, many of them killed by Hamas people. Many of them killed by Hamas and by Israelis. Also, Israelis also killed some of the hostages. Hopefully, they will be released. OK, we hope they will be released. I would just say one thing. Why did the Israeli government prop up Hamas for so long and encourage Qatar to send money to Gaza? Stupidly. They're not hearing my answer. The answer is that the Israeli government under Netanyahu behaved stupidly, and this was part of the incompetence of Netanyahu. I think it was incompetence. Let's go to the gentleman in the blue jumper. Take it away. I'm not sure, and I wrote a book called What Is Genocide? I wanted to bring Benny back to Gaza, because he said it's a war and there's collateral damage and Hamas knew, and that may be true, but the real point is that Israel knew, isn't it? That if you bend the rules of war so that 100 people can be killed for one militant, if you do that thousands and thousands of times with 2,000-pound bombs, you know that the whole of Gaza is going to be a ruin. You know that you're going to destroy that society. And the only way we can understand that in an overall sense is not a series of war crimes. It is one big crime, and I think the name for that is genocide. Absolutely. I think I've already made the point. The Hamas, when it attacked Israel on the 7th of October, knew that Israel would retaliate with bombing and knew that lots of Gazan civilians would die. They were hoping for that, because that looks good on Western television images. But they say that killing a lot of Gaza civilians is good because they go to heaven, they become martyrs. So this is allowed. Ben, can I ask you a question? Can I say something wrong? No, no, I just want to follow your logic. Hamas knew that. Your argument is Hamas knew that if they did this, we'd do a genocide, so we did a genocide. Not genocide, no. They knew that we would go and kill lots of people. They knew that Israel would kill lots of Gazans. They knew that Israel would kill lots of Gazans. Yes, they knew that. Going after the Hamas, they knew that lots of Gazan civilians would be killed, and they were happy with this because of international pressure which would result. OK, we're running out of time. I want to take a gentleman in the suit. Yes. Benny Morris, you say that the ICC should issue an arrest warrant against the Israeli Prime Minister and the Israeli War Minister, Yoav Galant. But on the 9th of October, they imposed a total siege on 2.3 million civilians in Gaza, depriving them of water, medicine, food. That is what they're accused of. Salvation is a weapon of war, something that the Syrian and the Russian regimes were accused of. Do you condemn that? Has anybody died in Gaza of starvation? Yes, I guess I do. This is total nonsense. The Israeli... I guess I do. You can't just say things that are false. I'm not going to let you say that. The Israeli government, I think the ministers, debated whether to cut off water, cut off electricity, et cetera, et cetera. They eventually resolved not to do that. That has not happened. Benny, how do you know that? Hold on, stop heckling. How do you know that, Benny? And please... I haven't read any report of anyone dying of starvation. There have been many reports. I haven't read any. So that makes it nonsense because you haven't read any. I haven't heard of anybody dying of starvation. You don't think there's a famine in northern Gaza? No, I think there's a food problem there. People... You don't think there's a famine in northern Gaza? I don't know what the word famine means. There is a food problem. There's malnutrition. This I haven't heard. But nobody's died. They all conveniently state a lie. As far as I know, nobody has died of starvation in Gaza. You're a historian. She's the head of the World Food Programme. She's the widow of Senator John McCain, the most pro-Israeli senator of my lifetime. She said northern Gaza is a full-blown famine and that there are children, women and children in skeletal states there. Did she say somebody died of starvation? I'm asking you. Did anybody die of starvation? Yes, there have been documented cases. Read the newspapers. Read the humanitarian issues. You said there's no famine a moment ago. I didn't say. I said I don't know what famine is. Let's get out. This is the core of the discussion. Let's take another question. Gentleman in the green jacket has been waiting a while. Hi, my question is to Benny. I just want to know, if you were Palestinian and you were born in Palestine, would you, given the circumstances, support a Palestinian's right to resistance? In the form that they have... In the form I would support Palestinian resistance if I was living under Israeli occupation, yes. Which is what the Palestinians are. Benny, Benny, we're out of time. I do... A very interesting question you posed, a very interesting answer. I do want to ask, wait, because I watched the recent discussion you did and you were telling your opponent you need to have empathy, you need to put yourself in other people's shoes. So let's just continue on, gentleman. A very good question, I thought. I mean, if you were killing Gaza right now and you saw your home blown up by the Israeli Air Force, you saw your parents incinerated in front of you, you're starving, what's your view of Israel going to be? It'll probably be very negative, but it might also be negative towards the Hamas who generated this conflict and led to that home being blown up. You think that's what a kid would think when he sees his parents killed by an Israeli bomb? He might think both things. He probably... What would you think if you were that kid? Probably I would describe the death of his parents to an Israeli bomb and to the Israelis, but I might, on reflection later, think maybe the Hamas shouldn't have slaughtered so many Israelis on the 7th of October, which led to this. I'm genuinely asking you, is that your talking point? Or as a human being, that's how you would feel? As a human being, I think I would feel anger towards those who had just killed my parents, but I think growing up and on reflection, I might think that the Hamas had led to this. Quite the empathy I was looking for, but we will... I mean, if that's your honest answer, I'll take it. That's my answer. I appreciate that. Benny Morris, thank you for joining me on the show today. Thank you to our audience in London's Conway Hall. Thank you to our panel of experts who joined the discussion. That's all we have time for. Thank you for watching at home. Good night.

Rabbi Shapiro on how Anti-Zionism became the new Antisemitism | Redacted w Natali Morris

Well is anti-zionism the new anti-semitism? Well, that's what the Israel lobby would have you believe But last week I had a chance to sit down with Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro He says that this is absolutely wrong and used to sell you war He says Zionism itself is anti-semitism and that the Israeli government is dangerous for Jews all around the world So I'm excited for you to listen to this interview and let me know what you think Rabbi, it's so nice to meet you I really enjoyed some of the other media that you have been doing and so I was anxious to talk to you because of This paradigm that's new to me You say that Zionism itself is anti-semitic and you are trying to teach people what Judaism actually is and how it is completely separate Apart from Zionism. So can you explain that for us? Because like I said, this is new to me. How is Zionism anti-semitic? Judaism is a religion. Jews have looked at themselves as a religion for thousands of years There are various different interpretations of this religion Everybody from the Jews for Jesus to the Reform Jews, to the Orthodox Jews, etc Zionism came and said something completely different. It said the Jews are not a religion. The Jews are a nationality Just like the Greeks had a religion They worshipped Zeus and the Norsemen worshipped Odin But their identity was a national identity. The Jews are a nationality and Israel is the state of that nationality They were the first people that said to say that the Jews are not a religion. They're a nationality There were perhaps some quirky exceptional Jews You can count them on one hand throughout history that believed that but the Zionists were the first one to do it In addition, the Zionists claim to be able to speak in the name of all the Jews all over the world Israel claims to be my state. The nation-state law of 2018 says that Israel is the nation-state of all Jews all over the world Meaning that America is not my country. Israel is my country according to Israeli law Netanyahu wrote in one of his books that the reason why anti-Zionism is anti-semitism. I'm sure you've heard that little piece of nonsense Yes, and it confuses me. Well, okay The reason why it's confusing is because it's based on an ideology called Zionism. Netanyahu said that To say I am against Israel, but I'm not against Jews is the same as saying I'm against the existence of America But I'm not against American identity According to Israel, according to Zionism, according to Netanyahu, the Jews are nationals I may or may not be religious and Israel is the country of that nationality Which means, like Jonathan Pollard said, he said that he would recommend Jews in America should spy on America for Israel because Jews have loyalty to Israel According to Netanyahu, according to Zionism, my country is not the United States of America My country is Israel. In 1917 when they made the Balfour Declaration in England There was one Jewish member of the cabinet named Edwin Montague He was against the Balfour Declaration and he was against Zionism He said if you're going to create a Jewish nationality in a Jewish state You're gonna make the Jews foreigners in their own countries and the Zionists want this It's anti-semitic because first of all, it denies my Jewish identity. It's a complete erasure of Jewish identity And two, it claims that I'm not a real American. I'm Jewish by religion. My family's from Poland. I have nothing to do with Israel It's not a question of I'm for or against Israel's policies I have as much to do with Israel. Jews have as much to do with Israel as I do with China, inherently Israel, again, my family's from Poland. By religion, I'm Jewish. I'm here in America What connection do I have with some random country they made in 1948? Now, Israel's status law in 1952 or 53 said that Israel considers the state of Israel The project and results of the national, of all Jews all over the world It's the national movement of all Jews all over the world, but that's nonsense It's not. A bunch of Zionists got together, decided to make a country and now speak in the name of all Jews all over the world And to say to everybody in the world, to you, that I am not a real American as much as you are I have loyalty to Israel. Netanyahu, when he came to America last time, to speak to Congress, to Barack Obama's Iran deal Before he left, right before he left, he said, I go to America to represent not only the people that voted for me But I represent all Jews all over the world He claims to be basically the prime minister of the Jews And Naftali Bennett said clearly Netanyahu is the prime minister of the Jews He is not the prime minister of the Jews. My president, whether I like him or not, is Joe Biden, okay? And I have nothing to do with that country and yet that country goes around slandering me and my people claiming that they speak In our name, number one. They're the only Jews in the world that do that Look, everybody has an opinion about what Judaism is, right? No problem Nobody says that they are the prime minister of the Jews, that they are the state of the Jews, that they speak in the name of the Jews That they are the national movement of all Jewish people. That's nonsense Orthodox Jews, I know that. I believe Orthodox Judaism is correct. The others are incorrect Fine, but I recognize the fact that there are others out there Israel believes, and they tell everybody, that they are the state of all Jews Israel claims to be my state, in the words of Abigail Lieberman and Dini Ayalon, with Francis to the French And Japan's to the Japanese, Israel is to the Jews. That's Zionism. Without Zionism Japan's to the Japanese and Francis to the French, while Israel is to the Israelis Yes, right This idea that Israel... One of the things that you said in a recent interview, that I really found it kind of jaw-dropping Is that Judaism, fundamentally, is an invitation to study the word of God And it is a peaceful, absolutely full-stop, peaceful religion And I turned to my husband, and I said, maybe I'm a Jew, because I like to study And I am anti-war, and you say that it's an invitation to anyone to follow this doctrine And it absolutely doesn't... So can you speak to that? And why then, a war would be waged in the name of this doctrine? Okay, first, they're not waging war in the name... Well, they don't believe in this doctrine Netanyahu is not a religious man at all. He does not follow Judaism at all He does not eat kosher food, he does not keep the Sabbath He does not believe in the 13 fundamentals of our religion He is not a practicing Jew, or an observant Jew, or a believing Jew at all, in the slightest He is, number one, pandering to the evangelicals Number two, he wants people to believe that he's acting out of some sort of religious obligations Which he's not He wants to pander to the religious people, both religious Zionists There are such things And religious evangelicals He wants to pander to them Netanyahu doesn't believe one word he's saying They're not waging a war in the name of Judaism They're waging a war for Israel They want it to look like a religious war The reason is, if it's a religious war, it's a war against Amalek It's a war against Islamic Muslim fanatics Such wars can never be solved It's just like the Hatfields and McCoys No one compromises their religion So if it's a religious war, it just goes on forever They don't want you to think, maybe Israel can stop the war Maybe they don't have to make so many wars Maybe negotiation is better They don't want you to believe that Jews are going to their death Never mind what they're doing to Gaza Israel itself is sending Jews to their death to fight a war for politics So that Netanyahu can stay in office for some other political reasons If it's Judaism, and it's your religion, and your identity Then you become more committed to it But he's lying, he doesn't even believe that himself Now as far as you becoming Jewish If you follow the doctrine, it's not enough Part is, you have to be committed to the doctrine In other words, it's more important to be committed to it Because everybody sins, nobody's perfect If Jews don't follow the doctrine, but they try, and they're committed to it That's what makes somebody a Jew Right, I did not mean to make light I just felt like, oh, those are virtues that I subscribe to as well This doesn't seem like a club that I can't get into Because I wasn't born in it, or I have no Israeli connection This is something different, that's why I was so moved by that Right, well of course you can Donald Trump's daughter converted to Judaism, right? Ivanka Trump is Jewish, and she married a Jewish guy, and she has Jewish children You can convert to Judaism In the book of Ruth, it says that King David In the book of Ruth in the Bible, that King David himself Is a descendant of Ruth, who was a convert She was a Moabite woman who converted to Judaism Of course it has nothing to do with blood It has nothing to do with some country in the Middle East That's Zionism, and that's why it's anti-Semitic This is what you thought, you thought this Because this is what Israel and the Zionists tell everybody Which means my identity, as a regular Jew That wants nothing except to serve God Fulfill my religion, pay my taxes here in America Take a walk along the base, spend some time with my family And leave me alone, I have nothing to do with some foreign country 6,000 miles away Any more than I do with China, or Japan, or Russia Just leave me out of your politics, I have nothing to do with American politics I'm a citizen of the United States of America, and I have nothing to do with any foreign countries They're just imposing their beliefs upon me And they're going around telling everybody that I'm responsible for their actions As a commodity almost, because one of the first exposures I had to this idea, that Jews are a commodity In order to feed into the Israeli idea Was from Ilyan Pape's book, when he talks about how post-Holocaust Israel went and signed up the survivors, and talked them out of Traveling to the United States, which was where most of them wanted to go Because either they had family there, or they were traumatized by being in that region And Israel said, oh no, you're coming to Israel, you're not going to the United States And they took those people out of survivor camps, in order to boost their numbers These are stories we are not told, right, and so this idea That a Judaism identity boosts this state ideal Is relatively new, and not spoken of, I think In the conversation around Judaism Well, you're right, and that's because the people listening to the conversation around Judaism Aren't going to the scholarly sources, they're going to the media, to the news, and to listen to Netanyahu And they assume it's a matter of, just a given, just an axiomatic given That Israel represents the Jews, that Israel's the state of the Jews It's not, it's a lie, absolute lie, and Zionism is absolutely opposed to Judaism in that sense It's nationalism, it's the nationalization of the Jewish religion Of Jewish identity, it's the steeliest identity theft, I call it That they wanted to be the Jews, they wanted to be the Jews Because there's a whole historical history behind that But the Zionists are They make a lot of trouble for us They love anti-Semitism all over the world, because then their answer is, of course Everybody has to come to Israel You know, there's, on campus, people protest for the Palestinians, oh they're really anti-Semites And they want to kill you. Just recently, they said that some guy got up At the Republican National Convention, someone sent me a clip of some guy That said that they're going to elect Donald Trump, and he's going to make the United States safe again Once more, for Jews to walk around with their yarmulke Because currently it's not safe. Now that's insane I literally, all my life, I've walked around the United States with a yarmulke And every day, I'm in New York, and I do, we're safer here, much safer than they are in Israel But the idea that we're not safe, because why? Because, why? It's nonsense But Israel wants Jews to feel unsafe, and if you notice, whenever they talk about anti-Semitism on campuses They don't talk about how many Jews are not safe They don't speak about how many Jews were hurt, how many Jews were harmed They speak about how Jews feel unsafe, they go around to Jews and they say You should feel unsafe, they want to kill you, they want to kill you So, oh my god, I'm scared, and then they say, oh look, see, Jews feel unsafe Well, of course, and now what's the solution? Go to Israel, go to Israel Israel's the safest place, but didn't President Biden recently say That if not for Israel, Jews wouldn't be safe anywhere around the world? What kind of nonsense is that? Is that not anti-Semitic? I mean, come on, I am a minority here in this country, and would he say that about any other minority? He's supposed to keep me safe, I pay taxes to him to keep me safe And he's saying that he, as my president of the United States He's not keeping me safe, some foreign country's keeping me safe Isn't that insane? Well, yes it is, especially in light of October 7th, we've covered many times on this show How the Israeli government was responsible for creating Hamas And so that fundamentally makes people who live in Israel unsafe So can you tell me what the Orthodox Judaism response would have been to October 7th? Or is that even a question, because the Orthodoxy would not have created this conflict with Hamas? I'm not sure where to come at this You see, I'm circling it, so can you help me? That's right, that question is similar to asking What's the Orthodox response to Ukraine's bombing of Russia? The Orthodox Jews have nothing to do with what Israel did Israel's China, Zelensky's Jewish and Netanyahu's Jewish And their actions equally represent the Jews and are equally connected with Orthodox Jews That's number one, number two, Orthodox Jews were not created in the state of Israel anyway We're not allowed to have a state of Israel, we're a religion And until the Messiah comes, we're not even allowed to have any state, any sovereignty at all We would not have created this, and I want to tell you something You talk about, before what you heard from Hila and Papi A few weeks ago was the 100th anniversary of the death of a man named Yaakov Dahan I don't know if you heard of him, here's the story When the Jews were, in the early 1900s When the Zionists and the Arabs and the British were fighting over that land To determine who was going to be in control of it The Jews said that we don't want the Zionists here We'd rather live under the Ottomans, we'd rather live under the British We don't want the Zionists, it's bad for spiritual, it's bad physically, it's bad for our security We don't want it But they didn't have an in to the British, who then had the mandate But there was a man, who was a Dutch guy, Yaakov Dahan He was a lawyer and a poet and a professor, and he was very hooked He was a famous guy, he was very hooked up, a very prominent scholar And Rabbi Yosef Hein Zonenfeld, he was the chief rabbi of the Orthodox community back then He sent Yaakov Dahan, he said go to the British And tell them that the Orthodox Jews here, we don't want Israel We don't want this so-called Jewish state And right before he was ready to go to England So he was coming out of a hospital where there was a synagogue Inside the hospital, coming out of his prayers A man by the name of Avram Tahomi, a Zionist It was a funny thing, because the streets were kind of empty It was an eerie scene, a guy comes over to Avram Tahomi, his name was Sergio at the time He looked at his watch, and he took out a gun and shot him three times in the chest It was an assassination, the Zionists, the Zionist Haganah The organized Zionist militia, which later became the idea of assassinating this man It wasn't even a murder, they made sure nobody would be in the streets A hundred years ago, like this one, and they did it in order that nobody should be able to know That the Jews are not Zionists They want everybody to think that they represent the Jews And this prominent man was going to tell the British, we want nothing to do with it So they assassinated him So yeah, the Zionists are not the friends of the Jews Which is why, by the way, the Haredim refused to join their army Right, and so now the Israeli army is saying that they will conscript Orthodox Jews Even though that is against their religion And so something you've been a part of is that pushback Showing that there are protests in the street, that Orthodox Jews will not fight And they do not want to fight, and in fact it is against the Jewish doctrine So you can follow Rabbi Shapiro at rabbishapiro.net For more about this, and I hope what I said about being interested in Judaism Didn't come off as disrespectful, I was very motivated By the doctrines that you were- You're admiring Judaism Yes, absolutely, and I feel like there's a lot to learn here that has been kept from me I have to seek it out myself clearly, because the media is not going to help And they're just going to yell at me Israel has the right to defend itself, if you are against that, you're anti-Semitic And so this is something that I feel like requires massive study On all of our parts, and I'm inspired by the fact that there is such a doctrine That values deep study, deep meditation, self-responsibility And anti-war, because I value those things too, so I hope that resonates I just want to mention two things about Israel I'm reading over here from a book Called Civil Religion in Israel, by two secular Jewish academics And it describes how Zionism masquerades as a religion Even though it's completely godless And it gives an example of Israel's army As a tool for indoctrination, for socialization When Ben-Gurion made the army, this is why Israel forfeits their right to draft anybody into their army Normal armies are militaries to defend the country But Israel's army was created by Ben-Gurion to be a melting pot He said clearly, it's going to be an instrument of socialization, it's going to be an educational institution It's an indoctrination camp for the Zionist religion Which means as follows, I'm reading over here Special efforts are invested in the education of future officers during the early 70s The officers training course included lectures on the following topic Now this is an army, for officers training, listen to this 1. What is Judaism? 2. The uniqueness of the Jewish people 3. The people and the land in a Jewish perspective 4. War and army in a Jewish perspective 5. The meaning of Jewish holidays in contemporary times 6. What is Kirish Hashem? Kirish Hashem is sanctifying God's name by being moderate 7. Is Judaism a religion, a way of life, or a constitution? 8. The identity of the Jewish people Now imagine if the American army would get up there and teach their recruits What you were taught about Christianity is wrong Christianity is not a religion, Christianity is a nationality And nobody would tolerate that in an army Yet Israel's army is not merely an army, it's a parochial school And they force people to listen to this, and they force people to respond to it And it's a forced indoctrination camp for the Zionist religion No country has a right to force people for religious indoctrination The fact that their indoctrination camp is also a military is no excuse Israel forfeits their right to drift anybody into that army Because it's not just a military It's an indoctrination camp for a religion Which is against, and they teach openly What is Judaism? Is that an insane thing for an army to teach? Because Israel's army is a religious indoctrination camp And therefore there's nobody that can expect Orthodox Jews or any religion To subject ourselves to this type of brainwashing against our religion And against our God, because every country has a right to expect people to serve their country But no country has a right to expect people to serve their gods And Zionism, number 2 Because it's the army of the Jews, because Israel's the country of the Jews And their army is the army of the Jews, not the army of Israel You know that Arabs, aside from Jews, are not subject to the draft They'll accept them voluntarily, but not everybody gets drafted Jews get drafted, Arabs besides Jews don't Christians besides Circassians are not drafted The reason is, and I heard this from one of the members of the Knesset I was on a radio show about 10 years ago Because the IDF is the army of the Jewish people Because Israel's the country of the Jewish people But all of this is, let them teach people how to secure a country Let them teach people how to be soldiers They're busy in the army teaching people about the Jewish religion How my version of the religion is wrong, and it's just a nationality Let them separate church and state, at least in the army Until then, they have no right to draft anybody Israel's army is an indoctrination camp for our religion And no country has a right to ask anybody, no moral right to ask anybody to go through that type of brainwashing Right, well thank you so much for sharing this with me I hope you come back on Redacted another time Again, you can find Rabbi Shapiro at rabbishapiro.net And his book called The Empty Wagon about Zionism So it really was a pleasure to speak with you, sir Thank you so much, a pleasure to be here!

DISGRACE: Netanyahu to Address a US Congress TIED TO THE HIP to Israel’s War Machine (Brian Becker)
UROS751
I'm Afshin Rutansi, and welcome back to Going Underground, broadcasting all around the world from the UAE. Amidst the ongoing UK-US-EU armed Gaza genocide, it's been a week since the likely next president of the USA survived a shot to the head in suspicious circumstances. The Pennsylvania assassination attempt on Trump came after years of US military-industrial-media censorship complex attacks on him for being an unpredictable servant of oligarch power, as opposed to the faithful, demented lapdog Biden. Will either make any difference to the slaughter of Ukrainians and Palestinians in the US proxy wars, or is street protest rather than elections the only peaceful means open to Americans wanting an end to US international wars on the poor? A reason why a Supreme Court decision has de facto banned political protest in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Next week, the Answer Coalition will try to surround the Capitol building in Washington, DC. They will demand the arrest of Israeli PM Netanyahu, as he addresses the US Congress. Brian Becker is the national director of the Answer Coalition and joins me now from Washington, DC. Brian, thanks so much for coming on. You've been organising demonstrations in the streets, publishing against the powerful for decades. I mean, how has it come to this, you needing to protest the idea of Netanyahu accused of genocide addressing your corrupt politicians next week in the Capitol in DC? Well, it's not the first time that Netanyahu has addressed both houses of Congress. When President Obama was pursuing the Iran nuclear arms deal, so-called, Netanyahu came to both houses of Congress and basically trashed the most important foreign policy objective of the then sitting president of the United States. And again, he received standing ovations from both sides of the aisle. It's even more disgraceful though this time, much more disgraceful, because the whole world has watched in real time, in real time, a genocide carried out by Netanyahu, orchestrated by Netanyahu. Netanyahu is the singular person who has done the most to prevent the ceasefire from taking place. And for Netanyahu to come at this moment to speak before both houses of Congress, to receive a hero's welcome, a hero's welcome from both of the establishment parties, it's a real disgrace. Prior to his address to Congress, he will be meeting with Biden in the White House on July 22nd. So we have protests going on for all three days, but on July 24th, when he speaks before both houses of Congress, tens of thousands of Americans of all walks of life will be surrounding the Capitol saying no to genocide and saying, yes, Netanyahu should be arrested. As a matter of fact, we're gonna have a giant arrest warrant, which people can not only observe and hold, but sign on to. And again, this is a mass movement that exists in the United States. It's something really different for Palestine. It's been going on since October 8th, the day when the Israeli massacres really began. And we see a sea change in consciousness at the grassroots in America, but in Congress, it's the same old Congress, the same old plutocratic Congress tied at the hip to the Israeli war machine. Yeah, polls show 64% of the US public want a ceasefire despite Biden's envoy to the UN, Indra Thomas-Greenfield, putting her hand up to veto the ceasefire at the UN Security Council, famously. As to the difference, and it's bipartisan, those demonstrations you're helping to organize. As to the difference between Trump, the expected president in November, and Biden, is the forecast that Trump would just speed up the genocide, whereas Biden will keep it at its current pace? Or would Trump do something to save the lives of all those millions of Palestinians who now face death or starvation or a life-changing injury? Yeah, I think the variable here is what's going on in the ground in Gaza and what's going on in the ground throughout the Middle East, and I would include there in Lebanon. Left to their own druthers, so to speak, both Biden and Trump would want Netanyahu to have a full, all-out military victory, destroy Hamas and the Palestinian resistance once and for all, but that's not possible. And so if the aspiration of Trump or Biden is to completely eliminate the Palestinian people and their just struggle for self-determination and freedom, they're kidding themselves. That's not going to happen. Even now, after nine months by this powerful Israeli military, armed to the teeth, being resupplied with tens of billions of dollars of weapons, including 2,000-pound bombs, 1,800-pound bombs by the Pentagon, they haven't secured their military objectives of the defeat of the Palestinian resistance. They have succeeded at killing a lot of people. They've succeeded at killing a lot of children and their mothers and their grandparents. They've succeeded at making people in Gaza homeless and succeeded in causing famine, but they haven't succeeded militarily. So in terms of whether Trump or Biden will be a decisive difference, it's not all up to them. Yes, they have a lot of power. Yes, they have a big military, but the Palestinian resistance has shown by its resilience that it's not able to be conquered at this point. But whereas Trump clearly, and his vice president nominee, J.D. Vance, clearly favor a ceasefire agreement or a peace agreement about the war in Europe, things J.D. Vance has said, let alone what Trump has done and said, shows that any expanded war into Lebanon, into Iran, Syria, Iraq, would be more likely under a Trump presidency than under a Biden administration, or it doesn't really make any difference. I should add that Biden is still in the race at the time of this recording. Well, let's think back. Just we can hypothesize based on some recent history. Trump ordered the execution of General Soleimani in the Baghdad airport, January 3rd, 2020. Pro-Iranian forces in the region and Iran itself retaliated and struck U.S. military bases in Iraq. They struck 12 of them. And after that, Trump, instead of retaliating back, actually stood down because the U.S. realized that if they went forward with this war, a full-scale war with Iran, U.S. forces would suffer very heavy casualties. They're very vulnerable throughout the Middle East. So again, if it was just up to Trump, I think Trump would be glad to be a partner in genocide, a real, complete genocide. Biden, maybe not a full, complete genocide, a complete extinguishing of the Palestinian people in Gaza, but certainly embracing Netanyahu's objectives of all-out military victory. So I think in that sense, they're both the same. Trump is more, less prudent, let's put it, than some of the U.S. other policymakers, more reckless, more open to provocation. But I think aspirationally, they're about the same. And again, I think their power, though, is limited. Biden, Blinken, Sullivan, they've been clear that these wars are good for the U.S. economy, quite brazen about the idea that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians killed on the battlefield in the proxy war on Russia is good for business and good for ordinary workers in the United States. How do you weigh up what it means for blue-collar workers, the American carnage, famously, as the expression went in the Trump inauguration speech? How do you compare them both? Because the head of the Teamsters is at the RNC convention and will be at the Democrat National Convention. Well, I think this notion that endless war is good for working people in the United States is not only false, it's basically rejected by most American workers. You look at the surveys and the polls, most people want a ceasefire in Gaza. And most people, including many who vote Republican, but many who vote Democrat, too, are disgusted that the United States is sending hundreds of billions of dollars for endless war against Russia, a proxy war in Ukraine. Yeah, but the U.S. government says it's recycled through so that it ends up on Main Street, USA, rather than to Zelensky's forces or to Netanyahu's. Well, in one sense, that's true. Much of the money never leaves the United States. It's really just contracts being signed with military industrial complex contractors. But those are capital-intensive industries. There's not many workers there, actually. Most cities in the United States do not have large numbers of industrial enterprises pumping out weapons. It's a very high-tech industry. It's very capital-intensive. It's not labor-intensive. And a lot of the subcontracting actually is taking place outside the United States. So the idea that this is a great boon, economic benefit, sort of a poisoned benefit that accrues to American workers is largely a fiction. But it's part of the demagoguery of the two parties who always say, as you mentioned, Blinken, Sullivan, they'll say, oh, it's good for American jobs. This is the same thing Reagan pushed, George H.W. Bush pushed. That's what Bill Clinton pushed. That's basically not true. The American people are spending $1.5 trillion. That's the real military budget, by the way. It's about $900 billion in the Defense Department. But hidden in the budget is another $600 billion that's going for the manufacture of weapon systems and the maintenance of the U.S. military-industrial complex. That's good for Wall Street. That's good for the banks. That's good for American capital. Not really a great benefit to the American working people. Yeah, because Biden continually repeats these talking points that he's a friend of the unions. You might have to remind us of what he did enacting legislation against the railway transport workers to stop a nationwide rail strike. I mean, Biden is not pro-union, is he? No, he's not pro-union at all. I mean, he's slightly less evil than the Trump National Labor Relations Board, but he's not pro-union. As you mentioned, that anti-union legislation wasn't enacted by Biden. It was enacted a long time ago, but it was implemented. It was imposed on the railway workers' unions by Biden this time. Because frankly, railway workers, if they go on strike in two weeks, could shut down the entire capitalist economy in the United States. That's how important rail is. So in these really important industries that are decisive and that would give working class people strategic leverage over government policy, those strikes are illegal. Same in different other key industries, including public service, government workers, transportation, et cetera. So Trump, I mean, Biden is pretending to be pro-labor because he wants hundreds of millions of dollars of labor donations. More and more workers, by the way, are turning against that. They're saying, let's stop funding either the Republicans or the Democrats. Let's use that money to organize unorganized workers. And 50 years ago, 33% of the U.S. workforce was union. Today, it's 6% in the private sector, 6%. It's one of the least unionized workforces in the country, which means workers don't have rights. You can be fired at will. You don't have benefits. You can be laid off on a moment's notice and your wages can be driven down. So Biden has done nothing for unionization except like mild some sort of talking points for labor, but he's done nothing. Brian Becker, I'll stop you there. More from the National Director of the Answer Coalition and host of the Socialist Program podcast after this break. Welcome back to Going Underground. I'm still here with the National Director of the Answer Coalition and host of the Socialist Program podcast, Brian Becker. Brian, at the end of part one, you were talking about how easy it is for workers, arguably, to shut down the United States. How precarious is the United States system right now? Many people saying that if the bullet had hit Trump a few millimeters one way or the other and Trump had been assassinated, there might've been civil war. How unstable is the republic? It's just below the surface. Very, very, very unstable with tens of millions of very angry people. Some vote Democrat, some vote Republican, some don't vote at all. That would be the majority, in fact. But there's a lot of anger. There's a lot of discontent, a lot of alienation. When you think back to the 1960s, we had JFK. He was assassinated November 22nd, 1963. After that, the massive escalation of US involvement in Vietnam took place. Five years later, his brother, Robert Kennedy, was assassinated after he won the California primary, meaning he would've been the Democratic nominee and very likely would've beaten Richard Nixon. And he had pledged to end the war in Vietnam. He was shot dead. And then Richard Nixon continued the war for five more years. A million more Vietnamese died, 30,000 more Americans died. George Wallace, who was contesting with Nixon for the far right vote in 1972, he was felled by an assassin's bullet. You had the killing of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, Malcolm X, 1965, Medgar Evers, NAACP in 64. Assassinations are typical of a period of political instability. In that time, it was because of the Vietnam War in particular, a war the US couldn't win. We are now in a new period, a declining empire. Everybody can see the US empire is declining. American soft power is in decline. The American economy has really been ravaged by three major economic recessions. They give them different names. It was the 2008 Wall Street meltdown or the 2020 pandemic where 60 million Americans lost their jobs. But about 30 or 40 million people in the United States have lost their jobs through mass layoffs since 1996. So you have big parts of the country that are hollowed out. At the same time, young workers in America can't afford to buy a home. The American dream that was always, you can buy a house, you can do better than your parents. Nobody believes that now. So we're entered a period of extreme political instability. If that bullet had not simply struck Donald Trump's ear, but would have actually killed him, I think we would be in a very, very different state right now in American politics. I think everything is so poised and so combustible for sort of a social explosion. Nobody knows exactly what the outcome would be, but we are living on very thin ice here in the United States. You would never think it if you're overseas. You think, oh, America is the richest country in the world, the biggest military in the world. Well, people once thought that about Tsarist Russia too, or other dynastic rules that had gone on for centuries. And suddenly you find out the soft underbelly of those governments are revealed when there's a shock to the system or a triggering event to the system. And sometimes an assassination is something like that. Of course, the greatest threat arguably right now is not even the threat of climate catastrophe. It is World War III because of this war against Russia, the NATO war on Russia through Ukraine. Trump clearly wants to address that. So just on that issue at all, because there'll be no change under Biden, Trump says he will end that war and they would open up peace negotiations. There'd be Georgia, not war, war. Does that mean that Western Europe will just follow the United States as usual as its vassal states? Or will Western Europe draw away from the United States and want to continue a war? Or does it just follow Washington's orders? Well, I would think based on the recent history that Europe does seem like a semi-colony of the United States, including some of the major biggest capitalist economies in the world. It's quite something when you think about the limited sovereignty that say Germany, which still has US military forces occupying it, which has been true since 1945, this sort of ability or willingness to go along with the United States, even when it's against the interests of their own country, their own people, their own economies. I don't know if Donald Trump will actually follow through on his vow to end the US involvement in the war in Ukraine against Russia. I don't know about that. Trump imposed more sanctions on Russia, certainly than Obama did. He was tougher in spite of all of the allegations by the Democrats that he was a puppet of the Kremlin. Actually, Trump's foreign policy was quite terrible quite terrible against Russia. So, Trump was saying anything to get elected. We don't really know. Right now, Trump only wants to win. Once he has achieved his victory, which I think will happen, then the real Trump foreign policy will be revealed. Will he end the war? It's hard to say. I don't think it's a matter of principle for Trump. And again, I think that Trump will do whatever the dominant wing or dominant force within the ruling class in America, and there is a ruling class, even though Americans are told, we're only just a big middle-class society, or maybe there's a few rich people and lots of poor people. We have a ruling class. It's a very experienced state. Some people on the right call it the deep state. I just call it the state because since 1945, when the US became the dominant empire in the world, replacing the British empire, the state has really directed US foreign policy and politicians come and go, but the state orientation is fundamentally unchanged. It doesn't really change very much at all. Okay, well, obviously for you and your fellow Americans, the future doesn't look so bright, but if Trump is elected, the oligarchs of Western Europe clearly don't like him, and it does have repercussions for vassal states in the US empire. Do you think we were seeing that when we saw victories from the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon in France, and we're seeing some victories reverberating in different vassal states as instability increases in Washington, DC and in Wall Street? I mean, one would hope. I mean, the multipolarity that we're now witnessing, unlike the unipolar power that came into existence after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the socialist camp in 1991, that next sort of 25 year period where the US ruled the roost and basically Russia and China, at least in their core decisions at the UN were essentially appeasing the United States, hoping to sort of divert the war drive of the United States somewhere else rather than against them. That period has ended. The Russian invasion of Ukraine signaled the end of that period. We now live in a period of multipolarity, meaning different centers of power, but it's the beginning of a new period. Where will Europe stand? I mean, Europe right now seems to be completely cohered around its vassal status with the United States, functioning as a supine junior partner. And I think the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which I think the Biden administration deliberately provoked and wanted to have happen, was partly done to secure and fasten Europe to the United States. And that, at least in the first year or so, did happen. Where will Europe go? I don't know. The French election is extremely important. Everybody expected the far right to win. They did not win. The popular front groups by the left, sort of more far left and moderate left, they united wisely. By the way, Bolsonaro was defeated in Brazil. Modi didn't do as well as he expected in India. The election in Colombia, where for the first time in a long time, there's a progressive government in Colombia, there are signs of yearning for progressive social change that are manifesting themselves, even in the context of sort of a right-wing shift in American politics. I would say both Biden and Trump have shifted things to the right. Of course, some might say, so focused is the Biden administration on trying to destroy the Russian Federation before China, who knows what else? They've taken their eye off the ball from Latin America, from the Sahel in Africa and areas of Southeast Asia. Do you think a Trump presidency will be back on board? I mean, he's not going to make the same mistake as appointing a John Bolton-type figure who's been on this show as national security advisor, presumably. But will there be greater dangers now? You mentioned Colombia and not exactly a pink tide in Latin America, but there certainly has been progress in Africa, West Africa. Trump could signal great dangers for liberation movements in the developing world? I think he could because, one, Trump is very reckless. He's not prudent. He feels he has a messianic personality and he's willing to do anything. He thought for sure he could destroy the Maduro government in Venezuela. They pronounced Juan Guaido was the new president. Although I should just interrupt there, Brian, and say he subsequently said, and from John Bolton's memoirs, we understand that actually he favoured negotiation with Maduro in Venezuela. Obviously, Venezuela heading to the polls in a few weeks' time. But it was Bolton who was puppeteering Trump. I don't believe that. Bolton is a self-serving, far-right militarist whatever, and he's fallen out with Trump. Trump was all about bringing Maduro. He wanted that feather in his cap. And he also thought that he could overturn the Iran nuclear arms deal, which he did. He also thought he could reverse Obama's normalization opening to Cuba, which he did. And Biden continued both of those Trump policies, both in Iran and Cuba. So I don't believe Bolton on that. I think Trump was all about bringing down Maduro. I think that what we can expect from Trump is that if Trump feels that he can achieve anything, anywhere, like bringing down an independent government, I think he'll go for it. I think he's very likely to pursue a reckless policy. At the same time, you could see what he did with Korea. I mean, when he went to Singapore and to Hanoi and met with Kim Jong-un and issued the Singapore Summit, for instance, in June 2018, Trump, for his own reasons, he wanted to get a Nobel Peace Prize the way Obama had. Well, exactly. So he might want it again and want to taunt with all these different countries in his final presidential term. It could happen. Like in the case of North Korea, Bolton was the obstacle. He was the one who sabotaged the second summit in Hanoi. Bolton really did play that one. But Trump will feel a greater sort of freedom to do what he wants to do. So it's very unpredictable because he is an unpredictable figure. At the same time, my point being that the machinations or the machine, let's put it, the machine of the state, of the imperial state, it's a very deeply developed and well-practiced machine. Yeah, but Trump knows it because it's the second time around now for him, isn't it? He knows how that worked against him as he sees it last time around. I mean, you're saying, like many other people, that it's very difficult to predict, which is quite a thing to say about a president who's been president before. How should the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS institutions cope then, given he's unpredictable? Because they need to predict and forecast right now, given Biden clearly demented and unable to win another term. Yeah, I think in terms of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and all things related to China, that the Trump policy is going to be extreme against China. I think Trump will focus more like with a laser focus against China and against the associated organizations that are considered to be organizations with China as an anchor, like BRICS, like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. That's where Trump and his team are going. They feel that China must be stopped. And how will it be stopped? They hope that ultimately due to China, what happened to the USSR, the dismemberment of a very large government led by a communist party, Tibet, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, the areas in China that are not considered part of the main stream of China, the struggle to separate them will be accentuated. I think that the militarization and the deployment of US Naval and Air Force assets against China, which Biden has done already, but will go with great intensity under Trump. So I think the graver war danger now will be in the Pacific. I think the Pentagon is preparing for war. The quadrennial Pentagon report in 2018 when Trump was president was the one that said, we're changing US military doctrine. The war on terror is no longer the priority. Major power conflict is now the priority. And that has been sustained. So I think Trump is coming back there in terms of his foreign policy focus. Brian Becker, thank you. Thank you. That's it for the show. Our continued condolences, meanwhile, to those bereaved by UK-US-EU armed genocide. We'll be back on Monday to ask veteran Israeli negotiator Gershon Baskin with back channels to Hamas whether the days of Israel are now numbered. Until then, keep in touch via all our social media if it's not censored in your country and head to our channel, goingundergroundtv on rumble.com to watch new and old episodes of Going Underground. See you Monday.

We have lost our identity as Jews and human beings.” Ami Ayalon comments on “selfie” photos of Israeli soldiers in Gaza and “the injured Jenin”
Amir Ayalon, welcome back to our program. Thank you. So can you explain what your Prime Minister has been saying to Israeli media about his view of a partial end to this? He said he's ready for a partial deal with Hamas for some of the hostages. Now, as far as I was aware, the people of Israel's first goal is to get all of the hostages back. The so-called Israeli plan that the Biden administration stated was precisely for that, or for all. Some people say, like the hostage families forum, they condemn it. They say he's just walked back from everything. What's a partial deal for the partial release of hostages? It's the only way for him to survive in power. That's it. It's the only way for him to make sure that the war will not come to an end. And this is what he's doing. I think that he really believes that we don't understand, but we do understand most of the Israelis. And today, our Prime Minister does not represent the people of Israel. In a recent poll, I have here the figures. 76% of Israelis believe that he should resign immediately. 65% demand elections today. And 74%, 75% believe that the only way to end this war is by a political achievement that will enable us to bring back all the hostages. Second, to end the war. And third, to create a regional coalition that will create a better reality and more safety to Israel. I'm really surprised by what you said, in that he doesn't want to end the war. Right. I mean, that sounds crazy to me. Why? Well, why? Why not? Israelis are being killed. Palestinians are being killed. Israel's losing its moral high ground. It's becoming a pariah. We call it toxic leadership. In academia, toxic leadership is a great charisma of a person who leads many people, but he leads them to the wrong place, to the end of Zionism. This is what he's doing. You have to understand that the first cabinet meeting, when we went to war, after the 7th of October, and we hate to go to war, because after the massacre, et cetera, it was a war of defense. But the decision of, do not discuss the day after. What is the meaning? I'll tell you something. In this war, when you send your people, your youngster, to kill, and many of them will die there, when you tell them that there is no political goal to this war, immediately what happens? The goal, the war becomes the end, and not the mean. Now, when the war becomes the end, the goal of itself, this is exactly what we see today in the Middle East. We know how to start wars. This government do not know and do not want to end this war. OK, I'm going to get back to Gaza in a second. But Netanyahu himself said in this so-called interview conversation that they might be prepared for another war, that the real so-called kinetic combat phase in Gaza could be coming to an end, but that they will move troops and forces to the north. That means Hezbollah. Are you prepared? Do you think this is going to happen, a full-scale war again, a la 2006, with Lebanese Hezbollah? Well, I think it is a real scenario. If we cannot change our perception of ourselves and the Middle East, it is a real scenario. Not because somebody want, because this is the only option. If we believe only in power, if we believe that war is not the last option, is the first and only option, this is what we should see. Our security doctrine should be based on two pillars. Yes, we should always have to maintain and to preserve a huge military power, but it will never be enough. Unless we understand diplomacy, unless we can speak in two languages, we should not be secure and we should lose our identity. And why has it taken eight months for the people like yourself? I know you've been saying it because you're out of, governing Shin Bet, et cetera, right now. Because I'm a minority in my people. Okay, you're a minority. But it's suddenly becoming out there, like the head of the idea has clearly empowered his spokesman, Admiral Hagari, who said last week that it's just throwing sand into the eyes of the Israeli people, saying that you can defeat Hamas. More and more people are beginning to say what you're telling me now, that there needs to be a day after plan. Yes, I don't blame, but I think that I expected more from our generals. I still remember during the first intifada, when Rabin gave us an order, instructed us to break the bones and some commanders did it, literally. And the chief of general staff told publicly to Rabin, Mr. Defense Minister, this is not a military phenomenon. This is a social, political, violent phenomenon. And I expected our generals to say it as early as possible. The moment that the cabinet accepted this decision, not to discuss the day after, it was clear that this is a never ending war and they should do it much earlier. Do you think, because you saw the justified horror that was unleashed over the weekend, when a picture of a wounded Palestinian, tied to the boat of one of your military vehicles, was driven out of the Jenin area and the Palestinians accused your forces of using them as a human shield. The Israeli military then shortly thereafter said, those forces violated orders and standard operating procedures. They'll be investigated. Not many people have faith in the investigation because it's very rarely those investigations happen. But what's happening? I mean, are you saying that this war without any political end is also causing this kind of stuff, including the selfies of your forces inside Gaza, taking pictures with the rubble, with this, with that. It's just not very nice at all. No, it's horrible. Do you feel they're losing their morality, their humanity? Not today. We are losing. We are losing our identity as people, as Jews and as human beings. Did you ever think you would say that you're the former head of Shin Bet? Yes. Did you ever think you'd get no points? Yes, I said it many times. And I said it in the Shin Bet when we tried to think of our code of ethics. I said, when we go to war, people do not think, when you send us to war, you do not send us to negotiate. You send us to kill. Now, we are born with the idea of you shall not kill. And now you tell me, okay, you go to war, kill all the enemies. Now, the idea that I have the right to kill. Now, with the time, it becomes a nature. We do not ask why. The only question that we ask when we go to war is how to kill. Whether we should use a knife or a gun or a missile. But it's become a second nature. And this is a danger in every war. And we saw it in all history. What Americans did in Iraq and Afghanistan, what we did in the past, unless we understand that every war must end. This is what we should see. We should lose our identity as democratic human beings. And we shall create a reality of never ending war.

Israel's Objectives Falling Apart | Col. Jacques Baud Dialogue Works

Recently, we had a ceasefire resolution adopted by the UN Security Council, but it doesn't seem that Netanyahu and his administration are caring about what's going on at the UN Security Council and what they're asking for. And when you look at the situation right now in Gaza, do you think this continuation of the conflict in Gaza would help Israel? Have they already achieved any of those objectives that they wanted to achieve? No. Coming back to this resolution, it's interesting to see that in the very session in which the resolution was presented, you had a first presentation of the US ambassador who said that they are committed to the implementation of this resolution and that Israel is committed to that too and so on. And a few minutes later, the Israeli ambassador said there's no way they will negotiate with Hamas and there's no way they will engage into negotiations. So in the very same session in which the US committed to implement this, where the Russians explained that they abstained because the resolution was lacking some details that would help implementation of it. And in the very same session, the Israelis said, well, there's no way we will comply with that. So we see that even the Western camp, if I can put it that way, you have discrepancies and you have discrepancies. They're not able to have a common vision of what should happen. And this is interesting because this resolution, by the way, the US resolution, is based on a proposal that was made by Hamas before. The interesting thing is that Hamas, basically the same layout, with one major difference is that Hamas, because you have three phases, basically, in essence, it's a resolution that provides for three phases to reach a kind of agreement of permanency. But the interesting thing is that in the Hamas project, each phase was timed with a deadline so that basically you would reach the first. Complete the first phase before reaching the second one, and so on and so forth. And the reason why Hamas did that is that they know that the Israelis, they say, OK, we do that. But in fact, when it's open-ended, then they never complete the task they're supposed to do. That's what's happening with the Oslo agreement, for instance, that the Israelis said, OK, we sign, but they never went through all the tasks they're supposed to do, including, for instance, recognition of the Palestinian state, because it's never the best time to do it. So it's always postponed. And so it becomes an open-ended issue. And that's exactly what Hamas didn't want. But the US, in order to please the Israelis, have removed this kind of timeline. You had in Hamas' proposal. So it's the same proposal, but without any timeline, if I can simplify a little bit. As a result, Hamas said, well, this is pointless, because we know that the Israelis will not comply with that. They will do the first step in order to get a few prisoners or hostages back, but then everything will continue. But the whole thing is that that's the point of view of Israel. But in the rest of the world, and when I say the rest of the world in that circumstance, it's the whole world, basically. Because if we look at this crisis, probably even more than the Ukrainian crisis, where you have this divide between West and the South, as it comes to Israel, more and more, you have the West against the West. You have the world against Israel. More and more. And everybody understands that Israel is not behaving the right way. And that's something I think the Israelis have underestimated. Or maybe they rely too much on their lobbies, the lobbies they have in each country. I don't know. But what is certain is that they underestimate the poor image that they have in the world. And there are some people who raise this question that I have already mentioned, that if we don't pay attention to that, Israel may disappear. And you have more and more people coming to that idea. Because even the Jews themselves cannot identify themselves with the idea of Zionism. And the way Zionism is. Implemented. I don't know. I have no specific, let's say, opinion about whether Zionism is a good or bad thing and all that. It's an ideology. Period. And I take it from there. But the thing is that, as any ideology, you have good aspects and bad aspects. But what comes to the surface today are only the bad aspects of Zionism. And that's the problem. Because more and more people understand that this is not viable. And if Israel is just a Zionist country, instead of being a Jewish country, and it will never survive. And you see that in the West. In the United States, specifically. Very strongly. But you see that. You see that in France, in Europe, generally speaking. Only the mainstream media seems to make some resistance and try to support Israel. But in reality, we see that it's almost a lost cause. And what we have seen, just yesterday or so, in the last couple of days. That the Israeli army decided unilaterally to have tactical pauses. And against the advice of Netanyahu. And that's an interesting point. Basically, they didn't. I mean, Netanyahu never approved the idea of having tactical pauses. And now you have the Israeli army decided by itself that they have to make a policy. And that goes probably, that relates to what we had a few days ago when Benny Gantz left the governmental coalition. Because there is no strategy. There is no understanding of how to end the conflict. Again, it's open-ended. Because for Netanyahu, the problem is not to solve the problem. The problem for Netanyahu is that as long as you have war in Palestine, it keeps him out of jail. If I can put it bluntly. So, in fact, Netanyahu has a personal interest in continuing war. And having this kind of warmongering mood in Israel. But the reality is that everybody understands. And you see that more and more people understand that the Hamas is probably not as bad as it was portrayed in October. And that's what I explained in my book. This is the other book. This one. The one behind me. I explained the whole issue of the 7th of October. Why it came about. And how wrong was the Israeli strategy in addressing the Hamas after the 7th of October. And now you have, for instance, just a couple of days ago, you had this article in the Times of London. That, in fact, debunks the hoax of the mass rapes performed by Hamas. On the 7th of October. So, meaning that you see, especially in the English-speaking mainstream media. People start to think about this. And understand that everything we are witnessing today in Gaza is based on a narrative. And this narrative was deliberately false and falsified in order to allow the mass murder. You have now, I think, I might be wrong. But I think there are 12 countries that have joined South Africa in the CIG. So, the International Court of Justice. ICG, sorry. The International Court of Justice in addressing the question of genocide in Gaza. So, meaning that the international community realizes that this initiative of South Africa. Was not just a kind of an accessory thing. It is essential. It is central in our approach to international law. To international, to the implication of the international humanitarian law. What we used to call the law of war. And that's exactly what the West starts to realize. And all that happens, in fact, against Israel. And my view is that if Israel continues in the way it has started this war. I think nobody will be interested in Israel anymore. And again, I've said that on your channel, I think. But if. And everything shows that we might have, at the end of the day, a decision of the ICG that Israel is performing a genocide. Now, think about it. If this happens, who would like to buy weapons or to sell weapons to a country who is performing genocide? Who will then argue against initiatives such as a BDS, you know, that is that everybody is fighting against in the West. This initiative of boycott, investment and sanctions against Israel. And this was started a few years ago, by the way. Because Israel is selling products of the. Occupied territories as Israeli product, whereas they should be Palestinian products. So that's that's a starting point of this BDS initiative, which is absolutely from a legal point of view. It's absolutely correct, because even the European Union has ruled that it's illegal to send a product that was produced in, let's say, West Bank as Israeli product. But again, the narrative is that it should be forbidden and all that. But who will fight against BDS if Israel is considered genocidal? Who will want to go and settle in Israel if it's a genocidal state? Who will be proud to wear the Israeli flag if it's a genocidal state? You know, all these questions may affect our understanding. And our relationship with the state of Israel in the future. And the way the things are going seems that we are heading towards recognition or, let's say, a decision that Israel has performed genocide, that it has performed massacres. And we have every day we have new testimonies and and and proofs and evidence that Israel is massacring people, civilians and all that. So who would trust such a state? So, you know, we start the discussion with the conference and in Switzerland about Russia. And Justin Trudeau mentioned the question of the. Abducted children in in in the. I'm sorry, in Ukraine that these abducted children that the Russians had allegedly abducted. In fact, they put these children into into safety with the agreement of their parents. I'm trying to find now if I have because it was a very interesting piece that I recommend that you go to see with the gray zone. You probably know this this media, Max Blumenthal, Aaron Maté and others. They do an excellent job and they have made this. I can go to the gray zone. And a U.S. journalist has found these children. And you would say that these children are absolutely not abducted. They are put into safety and with the agreement of their parents. And some have been returned to their parents and all that. So everything happens in accordance with the. Why would the Russians, in fact, abduct this guy and all that? This makes absolutely no sense. So we have on the one hand, Vladimir Putin, indicted by the ICC for having put children into safety. And on the other hand, you have the situation in Gaza where you have thousands of children who have been bombed deliberately, knowing that there would be collateral damages. And that's the bombs. And the equipment used will harm civilians. So we have here a total discrepancy between the two. And in fact, the interesting thing is that I think Trudeau is well, I'm not sure he's a very it's a very intelligent person. But in any case, he mentioned the specific case. And by mentioning this case, he makes even more blatant the difference between the two. And what we are accusing the Russians of is nothing, literally nothing and really nothing as compared to what the Israelis are doing in Palestine. So if you put that into perspective, you would see that I warned. I mean, it's not the first time I mentioned that, but I think we have to be very careful. I mean, Israel has to be very careful about the consequences of what the country is doing. When I say the country, I include also the Israelis themselves, because when you have citizens who prevent humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, when you have civilians, Israeli civilians destroying the food that is supposed to be distributed to Gaza, to the population. I mean, it's not certainly Benjamin Netanyahu and the government. That's for sure. It's certainly also the Israeli forces. And but it's also the population is subdued. And that's the behavior which is more and more condemned by the international. I think nobody originally. I think there are no. There are no more anti-Jewish anti-Semite people than anti-Arab or anti-Muslim people or anti-Christians. It's I think depending on the country you are, you have the sentiments that exist everywhere in the world. But the way you behave under the umbrella of your religion, that's what is discredits you and in fact creates this the hate and in the case of Israel, this anti-Semitism. It's not because people nobody is born as anti-Semitic. But when you see people behaving that way, then how can you avoid them to become anti-Semitic? That's that's the real problem. And I think that's a question that is. Israeli should really, really think about, because again, I see more and more interviews and articles of people saying that Israel might disappear and what we mentioned about Ukraine might very well happen to Israel as well. So I think we have to pay attention to that. But again, the key of the solution is in the behavior, is in the behavior. And remember that now we have we have to invent the bad behavior of Hamas to create the hate against Hamas. But now we discover the bad behavior of Israeli. So you see the problem for the Hamas. We have to invent to put the lies lies that have been debunked, by the way. And Israeli, we don't need to lie. We just need to observe. And that's that's a big difference. And that's the kind of thing we have to be aware of. And I think it's a tragic evolution because I think it's a it's a it's a poor situation. I mean, we are just worsening the situation. We shouldn't capitalize on hate regardless on the side. And interestingly enough, we have I think I don't know if it's on this channel. I mentioned the question of these hostages or prisoners that were released by the Israeli forces. And here again, we see that these Israeli prisoners have been well treated, that they have been fed properly, that they even get their got a little bit more fat and they were well treated, they were happy. While on the other hand, what we see, the pictures we see from Palestinians having spent a few months into the Israeli jails have lost weight, have been mistreated, have been beaten, have been tortured and all that while the Palestinians had been properly treated. I think someone used to say, I mean, said that you can see the grandeur of a population in the way it treats its prisoners.

Is there a country in the world that attracts so much criticism as nazi Israel? Studies consistently show Israel to be one of the most disliked nations in the world (along with Iran and North Korea). But how much of this is to do with genuine concern about Israel’s nazi actions, and how much is actually a cover for the 'age-old hatred of the Jews'?

UROS751
But yes, there really is such a diminishing left in Israel. I mean, just look at the genocidal onslaught. Look at the polling. Less than 2% thought that Israel was using too much firepower in Gaza after they obliterated and decimated the entire Gaza Strip. Less than 2%, you go back to the 2014 onslaught in Gaza where 2,500 Palestinians were killed, 500 children, 95% of Israelis supported that. The open fire policy at this fortified border fence, overwhelming majority, over 90% of Israelis support that. There were some Israeli human rights advocates that tried to take that policy to the Knesset and it was overwhelmingly, unanimously upheld that, no, we can shoot to kill unarmed people who are just straying too close to this border fence. That essentially just prevents them from getting back to their ancestral lands. That's how fascist Israeli society is. I hate when I see politicians just trying to denounce Netanyahu as some sort of aberration from Israeli society. No, this is the norm. This is the norm. Look at every single cabinet minister, every single member of the Knesset is out there spewing genocide, advocating mass murder. It is sick. It is sick. And I will never forgive journalists who are towing this line. And pretending like this is some sort of aberration of the Likudniks and Netanyahu's. No, this is Israel, this is Israel. This is a settler colonial state founded upon ethnic cleansing and it only exists because of the continuous ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population. And you have to have indoctrination from cradle to grave and you have to espouse the most horrific dehumanizing language possible to paint those people as barbaric human animals, to condone and tolerate those policies against these people for 75 plus years. So that's Israeli society. I saw it firsthand and people want to paint those interviews that I did. Oh, I'm trying to do a gotcha. Oh, I'm trying to pick the most crazy sounding people. No, that's Israeli society.

Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.
We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We also witness Dr. Gabor Maté offer trauma-healing work to a group of women who were tortured in Israeli prisons.
Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.
This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?

Given a choice between war and getting all its hostages back, Israel has opted for more war, argues Israeli journalist Gideon Levy.
Levy tells host Steve Clemons that Israeli politicians may abandon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but even if he was replaced, Israel would continue its war on Gaza and occupation of the Palestinian people as a whole. “Radical change” in Israeli attitude and U.S. support is needed for any improvement in the situation, says Levy.
After Oct. 7, even those on the Israeli left believe that Israel has the right to do whatever it wants, the Haaretz columnist argues.

Reporters At War: Dying To Tell A Story (EMMY AWARD WINNING) | Real Stories
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdQCsugwzDY
Reporters At War is a three-part series that takes a long hard look at one of the most dramatic and dangerous careers of modern times, that of the war correspondent.
More than 300 journalists have been killed in battle zones in the last dozen years, some 200 of these having been deliberately targeted by their killers.
The War in Iraq’s rate of attrition is the highest ever. Though 63 died in the Vietnam between 1963-1975, it’s been estimated that at the above rate around 4,500 journalists would die if the Iraq conflict lasted as long as the Vietnam War. Then there’s the psychological trauma of witnessing the brutality of war close-up, constantly, day in, day out, over long agonising periods of time. No wonder nervous breakdowns, marital break-ups, alcoholism, etc affect war correspondents to a degree unexperienced by most ordinary folk.
Reporters At War also examines the ever-changing circumstances that the war correspondent must file their stories under and the evolving technology that is supposed to make their job easier…that, at least, is the theory. It also looks at some early examples of how technology aided and abetted the faking of war newsreel footage, the impact that television may have had on the outcome of war and the pressure that reporters now find themselves under in the satellite-driven, 24-hour rolling-news era that they now unwittingly find themselves starring in.

Več o teh in drugih vprašanjih, povezanih z bližnjevzhodnim konfliktom, v tokratnem Studiu ob 17-ih. Gostje voditelja Blaža Ermenca bodo:
- državni sekretar na zunanjem ministrstvu Marko Štucin
- nekdanji predsednik republike, profesor mednarodnega prava, doktor Danilo Tuerk
- profesor mednarodnih odnosov na ljubljanski Fakulteti za družbene vede, doktor Bojko Bučar.

Palestine Talks | In conversation with Max Blumenthal BOTH 2 PARTS TRT World
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g53T-x1o4OU
In the first of this two-part interview, investigative journalist at The Grayzone and author Max Blumenthal discusses the “genocidal” nature of the Democratic Party, in relation to its support for Israel’s campaign of violence against Palestine. While citing several concrete examples he also illuminates troublesome connections between American mainstream media, government and Israel, including how they work in tandem to vilify Palestinians and mislead the public.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nuo4JU-qncM
In the second of this two-part interview, investigative journalist at The Grayzone and author Max Blumenthal speaks candidly about his own past experience in Palestine and how that allowed him to anticipate the unprecedented Israeli assault on Gaza today. He also shines a light on the extent to which Israeli society reflects the militarised Israeli state, reinforced by “systems of indoctrination” that promote “fear and loathing of Palestinians.”

Glenn Greenwald and Alan Dershowitz Debate Bombing Iran
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Na3J5GLyg
Professor and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald debate the resolution, "The U.S. should strike Iran's nuclear facilities."
Taking the affirmative is Dershowitz, an American lawyer and law professor known for his work in U.S. constitutional law and American criminal law. From 1964 to 2013, he taught at Harvard Law School, where he was appointed as the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law in 1993. He is the author of several books about politics and the law, including The Case for Israel, and The Case for Peace. His two most recent works are The Case Against Impeaching Trump, and Guilt by Accusation: The Challenge of Proving Innocence in the Age of #MeToo. In January 2020, he joined President Donald Trump's legal team as Trump was being tried on impeachment charges in the Senate. He is a strong supporter of Israel, self-identifing as both "pro-Israel and pro-Palestine."
Taking the negative is Greenwald, a constitutional lawyer, investigative journalist, and best-selling author. Acclaimed as one of the 25 most influential political commentators by The Atlantic, one of America's top 10 opinion writers by Newsweek, and one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers for 2013 by Foreign Policy, Greenwald has won the highest awards in journalism, including the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for the NSA-Snowden revelations.
This debate was moderated by Soho Forum Director Gene Epstein.

UROS751
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Calls Ukraine an "Ally" and Compares Russia to Hamas in Recent Speech
Israel's UN ambassador, Gilad Erdan, addressed Russia in a recent speech, declaring Israel's commitment to providing early warning systems against missiles for Ukraine and referring to Ukraine as an "ally." Erdan also drew parallels between Russia and Hamas, criticizing Russia for hosting a visit by Hamas in Moscow. This statement appears to signal a shift in the relationship between Putin and the Israeli Prime Minister, marking the end of their association. This move, reminiscent of Amir Weitmann's previous viral statement, where he warned that "Russia is going to pay the price," suggests a significant development in the diplomatic landscape.
Israel's supportive stance towards Ukraine may have broader implications, influencing discussions on military aid in the United States.

Snippet from a 1990 C-SPAN interview with Dan Raviv & Yossi Melman about their book 'The Complete History of Israel's Intelligence Community'.
''I thought it was a reasonable question but the trouble is, you can't pick up the phone book. There's no Langley in Israel that you can look up, you know, CIA or, in our case, the Mossad. We thought we should ask, "What shall we call it in English?" We can translate the Hebrew words, and like I said, Mossad is "institute." But when they write a letter to their friends in the CIA or the British intelligence, what do they call themselves? It took a while. It was a matter of asking the prime minister's spokesman -- the best you could do because officially the Mossad is under the prime minister's office. And I think he sort of wondered, "Why do you want to know?" and all that, so we explained and he came up with the Israeli Secret Intelligence Service. And if it were to have initials it would be ISIS, just simple words like that -- interestingly enough, though, kind of a British model. The British don't really like the names MI5 and MI6 for their foreign service. They prefer SIS, Secret Intelligence Service.''

Philosopher and independent presidential candidate Cornel West says Israel and the US are ‘intertwined in genocide’.
American voters feel “impotent and hopeless” as they approach an election where the main choices are a “neo-fascist Pied Piper” (Donald Trump) or “the war criminals of the Democratic Party”, argues independent presidential candidate Cornel West.
West, one of the United States’s pre-eminent philosophers and justice activists, tells host Steve Clemons that President Joe Biden is enabling Israeli genocide and that Israel cannot be secure if “precious Jewish security and safety is predicated on the domination of precious Palestinians”.
West argues that recent talk of a two-state solution is “subterfuge – a refusal to deal with the 700,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank”.

The Palestinian is a 1977 television documentary that runs for 66 minutes. Vanessa Redgrave produced and starred in the film, which was directed by Roy Battersby and stars Vanessa Redgrave.
An explosion occurred in front of the Doheny Plaza theater in Los Angeles at 4:26 a.m. on June 15, 1978, forcing the film's scheduled opening that evening to be postponed by one day. The incident was later linked to a member of the Jewish Defense League (JDL), who was subsequently convicted.
Vanessa Redgrave had previously won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Julia earlier in the year. In her acceptance speech at the Academy Awards, she made scathing remarks about "Zionist hoodlums," which were taken to be a reference to the Jewish Defense League, which was picketing the ceremony.
A Beverly Hills movie theater that was contracted last night to show "The Palestinian," an allegedly anti-Israel documentary film starring Vanessa Redgrave, was bombed today at 4:26 a.m. The bomb, which detonated outside the loboy, caused damage estimated at $1,000 by Gerald Peters, manager of the Doheny Plaza theater. Despite this, the theater stated that it would show the film tomorrow night on a cart.

In Palestine, the law has been used as a tool of oppression to legitimize and advance the dispossession of the Palestinian people for more than a century. From the theft of Palestinian land by legal mechanisms to the non-recognition of Palestinians as a people with the inalienable right of self-determination, the law is yet another weapon wielded against the Palestinian people by Israel and its patrons. Activist, attorney, and Rutgers University professor Noura Erakat joins The Chris Hedges Report to discuss the use of lawfare against Palestine and her new book, Justice for Some: Law and the Question of Palestine.

How Zionism Indoctrinated the West with Ahmed Paul Keeler
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2tKwj4GNYI
Zionism is the ideology that underpins the barbarism that has been meted out on Palestinians, its latest chapter being the slaughter that is currently happening in Gaza. Yet its ideals remain respectable in establishment circles. In the United States, political leaders fall over one another to declare their un denying loyalty to the creed and in Britain, there has been a long tradition of Christian Zionism that spans back to the early twentieth century and the Balfour Declaration.
Ahmed Paul Keeler argues that Zionism has become embedded into the Western mindset through education and culture. It relies upon a Darwinian hierarchy that places Europeans at the top and Arabs and others as savages and less human, terms that have been uttered in recent events with greater frequency. Ahmed was born in 1942 and was brought up in a conservative upper-middle class Anglo Catholic family. He belonged to a generation that was brought up to serve the British empire. Ahmed Keeler is a Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge, and was a Distinguished Fellow at The Faculty of Leadership and Management, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia in 2016.

Prof. Norman Finkelstein is 100% correct. There are no other logical answers to explain what we are witnessing from Israel. It's a nation engulfed and driven by evil, terrorism, racism, and hate. Hart of the Matter - Norman Finkelstein (2010!!!!!!)
UROS751
Guest tonight is a Jewish American political scientist and author who Jewish supporters of Israel right or wrong love to hate. He is – Norman Finkelstein.
Norman Finkelstein grew up in New York City where, before he obtained academic employment, he was a part-time social worker with teenage dropouts.
He completed his undergraduate studies at New York’s Binghampton University in 1974. After studying in Paris, he went on to get his Master’s degree in political science, and later his PhD in political studies, from Princeton University. He has held faculty positions at five American universities.
The reason why Finkelstein is vilified by Jewish supporters of Israel right or wrong can be simply stated. In his writing and public speaking, as in his doctoral thesis, he is committed to exposing books which present Zionism’s version of history. They are, he writes and says, part of a “monumental hoax”, “fraud” and “nonsense”.
His friend Noam Chomsky once warned him in a letter that he would get into trouble because, Chomsky wrote, “you’re going to expose the American intellectual community as a gang of frauds, and they are not going to like it, and they’re going to destroy you.”
A dramatic moment in Zionism’s on-going attempt to destroy Finkelstein, and also its highly successful strategy for restricting academic freedom in general, came in June of last year (twenty o seven) when, giving in to Zionist pressure, Chicago’s DePaul University denied him tenure. Prior to that decision, Finkelstein had been an assistant professor at DePaul for six years, and described in an official university statement as “a prolific scholar and outstanding teacher.”

Tantura, 2022
UROS751
https://archive.org/details/tantura_2022
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16378034
Description: When Israeli graduate student Teddy Katz meticulously documented a massacre of Palestinian civilians surrounding Israel's independence, he was initially celebrated for his groundbreaking work. But soon, he was stripped of his degrees and was publicly shamed as a fraudulent traitor. Decades later, incendiary new evidence emerges to corroborate Teddy's initial findings, not just vindicating him, but raising profound questions about how Israelis — and we all — deal with the darker chapters of history.
IMDb: In the war of 1948 hundreds of Palestinian villages were depopulated. Israelis call it 'The War of Independence. Palestinians call it 'Nakba"'. The film examines one village - Tantura and why "Nakba" is taboo in Israeli society.

The Occupation of the American Mind - Israel's Public Relations War in the United States (2016)
UROS751
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5588304
Israel's ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and repeated invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world - except the United States. The Occupation of the American Mind takes an eye-opening look at this critical exception, zeroing in on pro-Israel public relations efforts within the U.S. Narrated by Roger Waters and featuring leading observers of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and U.S. media culture, the film explores how the Israeli government, the U.S. government, and the pro-Israel lobby have joined forces, often with very different motives, to shape American media coverage of the conflict in Israel's favor. From the U.S.-based public relations campaigns that emerged in the 1980s to today, the film provides a sweeping analysis of Israel's decades-long battle for the hearts, minds, and tax dollars of the American people in the face of widening international condemnation of its increasingly right-wing policies. Featuring Amira Hass, M.J. Rosenberg, Stephen M. Walt, Noam Chomsky, Rula Jebreal, Henry Siegman, Rashid Khalidi, Rami Khouri, Yousef Munayyer, Norman Finkelstein, Max Blumenthal, Phyllis Bennis, Norman Solomon, Mark Crispin Miller, Peter Hart and Sut Jhally.

Reel Bad Arabs: How Hollywood Vilifies a People Documentary
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPxak6lFd-I
Documentary takes a devastating tour of the American cinematic landscape, moving from the earliest days of silent film to today's biggest Hollywood blockbusters to reveal an astonishing and persistent pattern of slanderous Arab stereotyping, including Palestinians that paved the way for Zionism and its propaganda.
Featuring acclaimed author and Hollywood film consultant Dr. Jack Shaheen, the documentary exposes American cinema's long love affair with Arab villainy and buffoonery, from over-sexed Bedouin bandits and submissive maidens to sinister sheikhs and blood-thirsty terrorists.
Along the way, the film provides striking insights into the origin of these images, their disturbing similarities to anti-Semitic and racist stereotypes from the past, and their political resonance during key moments of conflict in U.S. history.
In the end, Shaheen inspires us to think critically about the destructive social and political effects of Hollywood's projection of Arabs, challenging us to envision counter-narratives that do justice to both the diversity and humanity of Arab people (Middle Easterners), and the reality and richness of Arab history and culture.

Is Israel committing genocide in Gaza? | The News Agents
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSyFSJ4zHOE
The war in Gaza has escalated. The UK, US and allies have attacked Houthi militia in Yemen, who themselves have been attacking Western shipping routes in the Red Sea. Meanwhile, on Thursday South Africa took Israel to court, in the ICJ, the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
They contend that Israel is committing acts of genocide in Gaza. Israel denies the claims.
In this episode Lewis asks whether the case is credible and what might happen if Israel loses. He also talks in an extended interview to Eylon Levy, the ubiquitous spokesman for the Israel government to ask him when the war might end and how Israel can continue to justify the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Imperial Decay, ClassWarFilms
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLG5Hx1eceY
All empires are evil; they are certainly undemocratic. Can the U.S. un-imperialize itself, or must it go the way of all empires? Collapse.
Besedilo je kritična analiza ameriškega imperija in njegovih vojaških neuspehov, ki nakazujejo sistemski razkroj in neizogiben propad. Avtor argumentira, da vse imperije propadejo zaradi lastne pretirane ambicije, notranje gnilobe in nesposobnosti prilagajanja realnosti. Besedilo se osredotoča na zgodovinske vzporednice, vojaške poraze in geopolitične posledice ameriške zunanje politike.
1. Zgodovinski kontekst: Smrad propadajočega imperija
Vsi imperiji se zrušijo zaradi notranjega razpada in zunanje prekomerne ekspanzije.
Avtor primerja propad ZDA z nekdanjimi imperiji, kot so:
Nacistična Nemčija
Japonski militaristični imperij
Sovjetska zveza
Rimski imperij, Babilon, Perzija, Atene
Značilen znak propada je nesposobnost vsiljevanja svoje volje drugim narodom.
➡ Trenutni položaj ZDA je podoben tistemu, ko so propadali prejšnji imperiji – država izgublja nadzor in moč.
3. Terminalna faza: Neuspehi v Afganistanu in Iraku
4. Razumevanje imperijev: Ameriška država kot parazit
Imperiji ne propadejo zaradi zunanjih sovražnikov, temveč zaradi notranje gnilobe.
ZDA so že desetletja izčrpavale lastno družbo v korist vojne industrije in bogate elite.
Najemniški vojaki in džihadisti: Ker ameriška vojska ni več zmožna zmage, ZDA uporabljajo najemniške džihadiste v Siriji, vendar neuspešno.
✅ ZDA so imperij v zatonu.
✅ Njihovi vojaški neuspehi so razkrili njihovo nemoč.
Kakšne so možne posledice?
⚠ Totalna vojna?
⚠ Ameriška izolacija?
⚠ Gospodarski kolaps?
⚠ Globalni premik moči proti Vzhodu (Kitajska, Rusija, BRICS)?
💡 Svet se spreminja – ameriški imperij propada pred našimi očmi.

In response to last year's Gaza conflict, the Israeli government announced the construction of further settlements in the West Bank — a move condemned by the international community for escalating tensions that were already highly fraught.
The expansion of the settlements has consumed privately owned Palestinian land, causing the destruction of Palestinian homes, produce, and livelihoods. Despite Israeli settlements taking up only one percent of land in the West Bank, they now exert control over 42 percent, with settlement boundaries often 10 times larger than the settlements themselves.
VICE News traveled to the West Bank to speak to displaced Palestinians and activists who are trying desperately to address the grievances that boiled over with such horrific consequences in 2014.

On this episode of Going Underground, we speak to former Congressman and former Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich. He discusses Israel’s current ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the ethnic cleansing being a wider plan for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attack, ethnically cleanse and annex the West Bank, Benjamin Netanyahu’s grip on US foreign policy, US complicity in Israel’s atrocities, the self-destructiveness of US’ ‘horrific and evil’ foreign policy in the emerging multipolar world, the failed US-NATO proxy war against Russia in Ukraine and much more.

The 100 year war on Palestine w/Rashid Khalidi | The Chris Hedges Report
UROS751
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ55JmOlSdg
All too often, the question of Palestine is framed as an eternal conflict arising from ancient ethnic or religious hatreds, with questions regarding the origins of the state of Israel and the legitimacy of land claims reduced to matters of scriptural interpretation. Such views entirely omit the actual history of Palestine and the Zionist movement. The colonization of Palestine, a process still playing out before our eyes to this day, has definite historical origins at the turn of the 20th century, when Zionism was born and the encroachment of Palestinian land began. Historian Rashid Khalidi, author of The Hundreds' Year War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance, 1917- 2017, joins The Chris Hedges Report for a look into this essential history, and how it can help us frame Israel's present war on Gaza.
Rashid Khalidi is the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, and the author of several books.

Gaza Slaughter: Is This The Beginning of The End of the Zionist Israel Project? Prof. Ilan Pappé
UROS751
https://rumble.com/v3txpgs-gaza-slaughter-is-this-the-beginning-of-the-end-of-the-zionist-israel-proje.html
On this episode of Going Underground, we speak to Prof. Ilan Pappé, renowned Israeli historian and Director of the European Centre for Palestine Studies at the University of Exeter. He discusses why the Israeli public has been incapable of showing compassion for the people killed in Gaza by Israeli bombardment and for Palestinians living under occupation since 1948, why we may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the Zionist Israel project and the two ways the occupation of Palestine can go from here, how the leaders of the UK, US and EU are sending a message of ‘we absolve you’ to Israel as it bombs civilians, why Russia and China still stick to a two-state solution and much more.
