The Serpent’s Tail
A Poem

All circles presuppose the snake will eat its tail.
All life assumes, the saying goes, as above so below;
The Hermetic sophists weave a verbose mythic tale
Of how an Aeon from the Monad made an esoteric show.

From the many to the one to the many once again
Like shifting sand through the hour glass of time immemorial.
No creation, only energies, and a demiurge profane;
Enlightenment of perfection lost in the embodied purgatorial.

But what of Love as the animating principle of existence?
Surely there is more than corruption then reincarnate extinction.
Experience shows, our will breeds concupiscence—
How could the serpent ever author redemption?

The uncreated, beyond existence, revealed in light not Gnosis.
Created things, declared good, called to illumination not necrosis.
