During January 1813 a series of skirmishes occurred in present-day Michigan between US, British & Amerindian forces. What would have originally been remembered as yet another debacle in American leadership during the War of 1812 was instead declared a massacre, generating one of the US Army's first battle cries and dictating US-Indigenous diplomacy for the rest of the century. This is the story of the Battles of Frenchtown and the rallying cry "Remember The Raisin".
