Plucky Duck Is Determined To Make Shy Dog Her Friend

We have spoken about unusual friendships before and we hardly have had enough of them! Watching two animals of wildly different species develop such a strong bond between each other is amazing. Seeing a cat and a dog, cat and mouse, dog and squirrel become best friends can really make one rethink their actions! But out of all the unusual bonds that we have seen, none amazes us more than the friendship of a dog and aquatic birds.

If you search “dog and duck” anywhere online, you will be buried in videos of pups cuddling and playing with these birds. Whether the pups think they are a bird, or the birds think they are the same species as the canine, we can never know. What we do know is that it proves that we are all the same, once we decide to look past what makes us different on the surface.

Still, every sweet rule has its own exception and this one is no different. Whether the reason for this slightly heartbreaking video is shyness or something else is unclear. But to see a duck chasing a dog for attention is very amusing. Just check for yourself!

The dog looks to be an English Springer Spaniel, which explains the dog’s behavior somewhat. The English Springer Spaniel is a breed of gun dog traditionally used for flushing and retrieving game. And this duck looks very much like the game he was once trained to retrieve.

Maybe the dog is shy and terrible at making friends. We have another theory: the dog knows well what he has been doing to the duck’s distant relatives and he is too embarrassed to make friends with her! We know we would be!
