Twitch Lays Off 35% of Staff | Kick Says They’ll Buy Them Out Soon

Amazon’s streaming platform Twitch has been facing financial troubles lately and announced they will be laying off nearly 500 workers, approximately 35% of their entire workforce.

This comes after a series of bizarre moves by the company to try and stay competitive. A prominent example is a recent change to their policy to allow what they called “artistic nudity” before immediately reversing the policy in less than 48 hours. Amazon has been unhappy with the platform since it was purchased. Rival streaming platform Kick, which basically sprung up in early 2023, is saying it’s only a matter of time before they buy out Twitch. Such an off could be desired by Amazon since Twitch has yet to turn a profit for the online retailer.
