American universities and colleges have received billions of dollars from foreign countries and adversaries. Three of the top five countries that have pumped money into higher education in the U.S. are China, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
“Foreign influence on gifts and grants since 1990 is a big number. It’s $43 billion and roughly one out of every four of those foreign gifts and grants have come from those three countries who oftentimes don't have U.S. interests at heart,” he said. “They're adversarial to our foreign policy positions and the American way of life. Both socialism and communism are essentially economic philosophies advocating public rather than private ownership, especially of the means of production, distribution and exchange of goods (i.e., making money) in a society. Both aim to fix the problems they see as created by a free-market capitalist system, including the exploitation of workers and a widening gulf between rich and poor.
But while socialism and communism share some basic similarities, there are also important differences between them.
Key Differences Between Communism and Socialism
Under communism, there is no such thing as private property. All property is communally owned, and each person receives a portion based on what they need. A strong central government—the state—controls all aspects of economic production, and provides citizens with their basic necessities, including food, housing, medical care and education.
By contrast, under socialism, individuals can still own property. But industrial production, or the chief means of generating wealth, is communally owned and managed by a democratically elected government.
Another key difference in socialism versus communism is the means of achieving them. In communism, a violent revolution in which the workers rise up against the middle and upper classes is seen as an inevitable part of achieving a pure communist state. Socialism is a less rigid, more flexible ideology. Its adherents seek change and reform, but often insist on making these changes through democratic processes within the existing social and political structure, not overthrowing that structure.
So per U.S.A. new land reform and confiscation all personal property to pay all new court fines was not only an economic or administrative process of taking and redistributing deeds or legal ownership of land. It was a two party system's republican and democratic parties -led to new mass movement which turned peasants (its you baby) into active participants and which pushed for political and ideological change beyond the immediate economic question of all land confiscation and ownership rights are gone.

Does the Congressional Black Caucus hate black people? They were on full display at the president's first State of the Union address, or SOTU, where Congressional Black Caucus members refused to acknowledge America's recent major wins.
The useless black Democrats wouldn't applaud as President Trump highlighted the booming U.S. economy, and that we now have the lowest black unemployment rate ever recorded! They sat on their hands as he pledged to protect our borders and put Americans first. They showed no compassion for the black families victimized by illegal-alien MS-13 gangs.
Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., held a press conference and said the lowest point of President Trump's speech is when he said, "Americans are dreamers, too."
Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-LA, is chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. He attacked Trump's address for "racist rhetoric" on immigration, and he claimed blacks "have a lot to lose" under the president. "We have lost a lot already, especially when it comes to his justice, voting rights, education, housing, and health care policies," Richmond said.

Rep. Richmond is a wicked liar! While President Trump is "Making America Great Again," Richmond and the corrupt Congressional Black Caucus have been turning America's cities into hellholes.
Richmond represents New Orleans, one of the poorest and most violent cities in America. He's been a politician for almost two decades, but he has done nothing to help improve the lives of his constituents. Despite billions of dollars pouring in to rebuild the city, the poverty rate remains at a staggering 27 percent, twice the nation's rate!
One would think Richmond is working to strengthen the bond between police and the community to reduce crime. Nope. Richmond is hostile to police.
In January 2017, during growing violent attacks against cops by angry black thugs, Richmond became involved in an argument with Republicans over allowing an appalling paining that depicts police officers as pigs to remain hanging in the Capitol. Richmond threatened that if the painting is removed, "We may just have to kick somebody's ass."
Richmond also said President Trump is stealing credit from Barack Obama for the strong economy. What a joke! Black unemployment rose to 16.6 percent while Obama was president. Today, black unemployment is around 6.8 percent.

Obama emboldened radical leftists. We had Black Lives Matter activists rioting and encouraging violence toward police. What did Obama do? He welcomed them into the White House and legitimized them. As a result, police were being ambushed in cities across America. Since Obama left office, attacks against police have declined.
Maxine Waters, D-Calif., another godless black liberal who hates the president, was allowed to give a rebuttal to Trump's SOTU on Black Entertainment Television, BET. Since Waters couldn't refute what the president is doing to empower working class blacks, she told the BET audience that Trump is a "dangerous racist."
Maxine Waters has been in Congress for almost 30 years. She has publicly vowed to fight efforts by Republicans to get rid of the crime-ridden projects, and she has promised to keep her black constituents in them. She was named by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, CREW, as one of its "most corrupt" politicians.
There are many black lawmakers who have been charged with crimes:
Corrine Brown, D-Fla., was convicted on 18 felony counts of wire and tax fraud, conspiracy, lying to federal investigators (2017); Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., was convicted on 23 counts of racketeering, fraud and other corruption charges (2016); Jesse Jackson, Jr., D-Ill., pleaded guilty Feb. 20, 2013, to wire and mail fraud in connection with his misuse of $750,000 in campaign funds; Laura Richardson, D-Calif., was found guilty on seven counts of violating U.S. House rules; William J. Jefferson, D-La., was charged in August 2005 after the FBI seized $90,000 in cash from his home freezer.
Black politicians aren't the only ones upset at the progress of working-class blacks. Joy Reid of MSNBC tweeted that President Trump was trying to harken back to a bygone era and appealing to so-called "racists" with talk of church, family, police, military and the national anthem. Before liberal elites like Reid and the black caucus perverted the civil-rights movement, faith, family, respect for the law and patriotism used to be the foundation of black life.
During MSNBC's coverage of the State of the Union, Reid also appeared on MSNBC's "Hardball" with host Chris Matthews and mocked the president for his remarks about deporting deadly MS-13 gangs that prey on innocent Americans.
Joy Reid is out of touch. Law-abiding blacks are being attacked and driven out of their communities by MS-13 and other Hispanic gangs daily. In fact, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., told Matthews on the very same show on which Reid appeared that "MS-13 is an example of some of the worst of criminal gang behavior."
This #Resist lie isn't working so well anymore. Reid was ridiculed and ripped on social media for her lies and dumb remarks. According to a CBS poll, 75 percent of Americans who tuned in approved of Trump's SOTU address.
In other words, the game is just about up, and people are slowly waking up to the fact that the Congressional Black Caucus and other liberal crybabies only use blacks for power and votes. They have nothing to offer but hate and misery!
New advisory provides practical advice on how to recognize and address anti-Black racism in all learning environments. Diversity, equity and awareness are critical elements of every safe and supportive learning environment. But what does this look like for Black students and how can Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) overcome long-standing and historical legacies to break down deeply entrenched systemic barriers?
"It's important to remember that anti-Black racism is not new and has been embedded in the educational system for generations," says Amorell Saunders N'Daw, principal of Amorell & Co, partner at KBRS, where she is also the equity, diversity and inclusion lead, and the lead writer for the College's Professional Advisory on Anti-Black Racism. "The focus on its adverse impacts has been amplified and requires meaningful action and sustainable change."
The advisory defines racism as "a belief that one group is superior or inferior to others," adding that sometimes people do not even realize they have these beliefs. Therefore, anti-racism is the "active and consistent process of change to eliminate individual, institutional and systemic racism, as well as the oppression and injustice racism causes."
It also states that the term Black began as "a social construct referring to people who have dark skin colour and/or other related racialized characteristics. [Over time,] the term has become less of an indicator of skin colour and more of racialized characteristics. Diverse societies apply different criteria to determine who is Black."
"The advisory is part of the College's ongoing and long-standing commitment to anti-oppression, equity and inclusion," explains College Registrar and CEO Dr. Derek Haime, OCT. "It encourages teachers to be comfortable being uncomfortable, to listen openly, honestly and without judgment, so that they can help drive positive change."
OCTs play an important and influential role in the learning environment and are uniquely positioned to help address anti-Black racism and its impact on students.
In November 2020, the Ontario College of Teachers Act, 1996 was amended to recognize hateful remarks and behaviour as acts of professional misconduct. This change is reflected in the advisory, which aims to support all teachers — regardless of where they are in their careers. It helps to clarify professional responsibilities within the context of professional, employer and community standards, legislation and the law.
It urges OCTs to create safe spaces for students of African descent and their families to reach out to educators and discuss their academic program, and to actively listen to their concerns.
"Inclusive learning spaces provide students from all backgrounds with the security to speak up and authentically explore their curiosity," said the College's Transition Supervisory Officer, Paul Boniferro. "OCTs are known for their dedication to student care and learning, and the advisory will help them grow their awareness and understanding to further protect students and address systemic racism."
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Boyfriend Offer White People Tips on Combating Racism: Chip Away 'Without Judgment' Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her boyfriend Riley Roberts offered a gradual three-step approach for helping white people do their part to combat racism.
The New York Democrat took on a wide range of questions from followers in her latest Instagram Q & A session Friday night, including one about how white people can help "chip away" at racist beliefs among fellow Caucasian friends and family. Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts--who has largely avoided public remarks during his girlfriend's time in office--offered side-by-side "tips on combating racism as a White person," as well as responses to questions about generational wealth and the "hot mess" Iowa caucuses.
"Talk to other White people," read a caption for the first step offered by Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts. "Most people don't want to be/think they are racist, but they also don't know or believe that some of the things they say/think can be racist."
"Approaching the conversation in a 'right vs. wrong' frame *before* a 'racist vs. not racist vs. anti-racist' discussion can help create progress with folks who are prone to defensiveness," read the caption for step number two. "And always being open to learning about racist things we may have said or done without judgement or defensiveness," Ocasio-Cortez added.
"One of the most helpful ways is just to talk and try to help teach them about why some of the things they say or think are 'wrong' and not necessarily 'racist,' but that they're wrong, and that will sort of chip away and contribute to some sort of development in this area," continued Roberts.
Finally, the third step called on pushing for incremental change of people's opinions about race rather than trying to bulldoze over someone's potentially long-held beliefs and positions.
"Focus on 'chipping away' at racist paradigms in a given conversation instead of trying to take someone all the way from racist to not racist or even admitting racism. Let people sit and reflect with the conversation you've had with them -- it takes time," according to Ocasio-Cortez.
The New York congresswoman responded to other questions, including one in which she described last week's dysfunctional Iowa caucus process as a "hot mess" in which no one wants to take responsibility. She also addressed a connection between generational wealth and an "impostor syndrome" evoked by many systemic benefactors. "A lot people don't acknowledge the help they received along the way," Ocasio-Cortez noted.
Ocasio-Cortez also discussed mental health reforms, the country's prison system, and whether or not undocumented immigrants pay taxes.
"[The U.S. needs to do a] better job at handling the mentally ill ... we can stop using jails as lazy substitutes for mental health care & actually invest in mental health to reduce the number of people we incarcerate among other things. That and #MedicareForAll," she wrote in a caption.
"Undocumented migrants pay a s**tload of taxes. More than Amazon. In 2015, it was $20 billion dollars," she wrote. IRS data for 2015 shows the agency reviewed 4.4 million income tax returns from workers without Social Security numbers and collected $23.6 billion in income taxes from these individuals.
As New York Post's Jon Levine noted Saturday, web developer Roberts grew up in Paradise Valley, Arizona, before meeting the future congresswoman at Boston University.
Do Democrats Hate America? Anger from the left has been boiling over. But do Democrats really hate America?
Many Democrats are angry about what they see happening in America, but this doesn't mean they hate America.
Conservatives express a lot of angry about what they see happening in America as well.
Democrats and Republicans tend to hold some different values regarding what is "good" and "right" for America.
When each side views the other side with anger and contempt, these United States are in trouble. Collectively, we need to find a better way.
Our perception that politics in America have grown more polarized in recent decades, unfortunately, is fairly accurate. The anger and vitriol seems to be at toxic levels. In recent weeks, rage over decades (centuries?) of racism and discrimination has resulted into protests across America and worldwide.
The most recent catalyst for the outbreak of protests is George Floyd's death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers. Black Lives Matter might be the largest movement in U.S. history. All of this occurring under the gloom of a global pandemic.
Much of this anger, as of late, has been from the left. Some of this righteous anger, in the form of "wokism" and the "cancel culture," might be inadvertently contributing to a backlash from the right. In response to some of the anger and protests from the left, some conservatives, such as Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have gone as far as saying that today's Democratic leaders "despise this country" and, consequently, are unfit to be in leadership roles. While I'm sure that there are some extremists in America who do indeed hate our country, let's keep this discussion focused on the more typical American Democrat (or person who is more liberal or on the "left"). Is it true that they really hate America?
Does Anger Mean Hate?
First, let's not conflate "anger" with "hate." One can be angry without hating, and our own experience tells us this is true. Think of the times that you've been really angry with your partner, parent, close friend, or child. Did your anger mean that you hated them? Of course not! Just as you can love someone and be angry at them, one can love one's country and be angry at aspects of it too.
Similarly, we can even dislike aspects of a person we love (e.g., the way he smacks his food when he eats). Granted, there is so much anger in many liberals right now that it might appear that many of them do indeed hate America. But just as those we love can hurt us most, consider that the level of anger that many liberals feel is a reflection of the pain and hurt underneath it.
People on the Right Become Critical and Angry Too
Clearly, it's not just people on the left who get angry at our political leaders, laws, and policies. People on the right can be very critical and protest too, often in anger. Some examples include protesting requirements to wear masks, for gun rights, and banning abortions. There are people on the extreme right who despise the IRS, CIA, FBI, and the federal government in general. Yet, we shouldn't claim that these people hate America ... right?
Let's imagine that Hillary Clinton had become president. Many (most?) conservatives would likely be extremely upset by this and criticizing her and almost every aspect of her administration. "A liberal Supreme Court justice nominated to replace a retiring conservative one? OMG, she's awful!" The hosts at Fox News would practically be frothing at the mouth, just as the CNN and MSNBC news anchors do now about Trump and his administration. Further, we can imagine if President Hillary Clinton were restricting access to firearms and fending off abortion restrictions, there would be many angry protests from the right, to say the least.
How Conservatives and Liberals Are Alike
People on both the right and left sides of the political spectrum get angry and protest. Each side thinks they are right and the other side is wrong. Both sides vilify the other and engage in a type of fear-mongering. "Don't let the other side win, or they will destroy America!" In an odd way, this makes conservatives and liberals the same, not different. The difference is what elicits fear and anger in each side. There is some truth to the idea that both the right and the left hate the version of America that the other side wants us to be.
Viewing Our Differences Through the Lens of Moral Foundations Theory
While we all like to think of ourselves as objective, we all are subject to many biases that shape our views and opinions. This comes into particular play in our moral values and judgments. According to social psychologist Dr. Jonathan Haidt and colleagues' Moral Foundations Theory, conservatives and liberals' evaluations of good/bad and right/wrong are influenced by how these different foundations are weighted.
Liberals tend to evaluate morality based more on the foundations of care/harm, fairness/cheating, and liberty/oppression whereas conservatives also include the foundations of loyalty/betrayal, authority/subversion, and sanctity/degradation. Most of this is subconscious, but it can result in liberals and conservatives almost speaking different languages when it comes to their moral reasoning. Each side looks at the other and thinks, "Why do you not see this? What is wrong with you that you don't get this?" (You can read more about this in Haidt's The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion).
The killing of George Floyd by police officers activated all three of liberals' primary moral foundations of care/harm, fairness/cheating, and liberty/oppression quite strongly. From the left's perspective, their righteous anger in the forms of protests and demands for change are warranted to correct wrongs in society and our politics. Many on the left were already quite angry about the Trump presidency for denigrating the values that many liberals hold dear (e.g., treatment of refugees, immigrants, and the poor, minority/LBGTQ rights, the environment).
Similarly, conservatives become quite upset when liberals act in ways that subvert the three other moral foundations: disloyalty to America, disrespecting authority, and dishonoring the sanctity of America. In many countries, and historically, one would be imprisoned or executed for merely criticizing the government. As a recent example, protesters in Hong Kong experienced China's crackdown firsthand. What a great country we have that we can (peacefully) protest our own government!
Numerous conservatives look at people on the left and think, "What is their major malfunction? What a bunch of ungrateful complainers! How dare they be so critical of our great nation!" Agree with them or not, many conservatives find it almost heretical for liberals to be so critical of America, especially when it comes to the removal of statues, monuments, and renaming roads and buildings (there's that "sanctity" moral foundation coming into play).
Can We Find Some Common Ground?
People don't fit into discreet categories and, if we stop vilifying one another long enough, perhaps we can each see a little bit from one another's perspective. We get so polarized that we often don't listen to one another, which might be considered a form of switchtracking. We are too busy telling the other side how and why they are wrong instead of listening a bit to one another to try to find some common ground.
Conservatives are correct in that, taking a broad perspective, there are many wonderful things about America. We have done a lot "right." We are founded on lofty principles that all people have the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We are a world leader in so many areas—the arts, sciences, medicine, and technology. American ingenuity, allowed to flourish in our fertile economic and political conditions, is responsible for inventions such as the electric light, the airplane, cellphones, and personal computers. We helped win World Wars I and II. We put the first human beings on the moon. In many respects, we should all be thankful that we live here and not in some more oppressive country like North Korea or, even more broadly, medieval Europe, Stalin's Russia, or Hitler's Germany. Using both historical and global standards, America is a pretty awesome country.
Yet, liberals are also correct that America has many ills. We frequently don't live up to our lofty aspirations. Many inequalities still exist. We have some embarrassingly bad policies and laws in our history, such as slavery and Jim Crow. Most Native Americans would not, understandably, praise America as the land of opportunity given that we took the land from them. It's amazing to think that, even though America was founded on July 4, 1776, women were not even given the right to vote at the national level until the 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920. To this day, many women and minorities still don't often experience the same level of opportunities and benefits as the advantaged white majority. Much progress has been made in the areas of social justice, yet there is more work to be done.
Both liberals and conservatives have valid points of view. But the groups become more polarized when we don't acknowledge this. Liberals could do a better job at appreciating the many great qualities about America while still calling for change and reform. Conservatives could do a better job at acknowledging that, even though America is a great country in so many respects, we have made many egregious mistakes in our past and still have work to do in order to "form a more perfect union."
The Takeaway?
While there are certainly some extremists on the left who probably do hate America, most Democrats don't hate America. However, many are angry. But saying Democrats hate America provides a rationale for Republicans to hate Democrats. This kind of polarizing rhetoric maybe the heart of the problem.
Once we become blinded by the view that people who hold different perspectives than we do are idiots, ignorant, or morally inferior to ourselves, it allows us to treat them with contempt and disdain. "My group is better than your group!" Strangely enough, Democrats and Republicans each point their collective fingers at one another making the same claim—that they have it right and the other group is wrong (or ignorant, stupid, uneducated, etc.). The reality is that most people are doing the best they can and trying to get it "right," whatever that means. Simply put, if we thought our views were idiotic, we would change them!
Although Democrats don't truly hate America, making this claim elicits the outrage that garners higher TV ratings, more social media shares and likes, and makes more money for networks. Media on both the right and the left foment this anger because their existence often depends upon it. We are all, to some degree, responsible, as well, as we collectively segregate ourselves into our tribes and convince ourselves that we are morally superior to those "others." Until both liberals and conservatives realize that our real enemy isn't each other, but our vilification of one another, we will continue down this path toward greater tribal animosity that is the real threat to our democracy.
