2nd In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Word of Judgment for all Nations - Micah 1:1-2
* A. Though 3 specific kings are the focus, the message is for:
* 1. Every human being ever born into this world
* 2. Every tribe, tongue and nation that ever existed
* B. God stands as witness against everyone and every nation
* 1. The judgment of Adam and Eve - Genesis 3
* 2. The judgment of the antediluvian world in the worldwide flood - Genesis 7
* 3. The judgment at the Tower of Babel - Genesis 11
* 4. The judgment of Egypt and their idols - Exodus 7-12
* 5. The judgment of the sins of disciples of Jesus - Is. 53:4-8

II. What Judgment looks like when it comes - Micah 1:3-5
* A. The natural world is convulsed at the coming judgment
* 1. Earthquakes as the earth splits apart under His feet
* 2. Volcanoes erupt and lava flows at His step
* B. The reason for God’s Judgment is the sin of Idolatry
* 1. These sins are summed up by just naming their capital cities
* a. There were idols in both capitals
* b. There were idols even in the temple in Jerusalem
* 2. The Idolatry was also in the people’s adoration of their civil government - 1 Samuel 8:7, 11-20
* a. Conscription into his army
* b. Taking workers from family business to government employment
* c. Property confiscation - eminent domain
* d. Taxation not of increase at a rate of 10%
* 3. Self-evaluation - 1 Corinthians 11:28
