Strange Bedfellows Ep. 23: Can RFK Heal the Divide? (Guest: Karen Lorre)

Three years ago today, a riot broke out at the U.S. Capitol when supporters of President #Trump stormed the building, angered over an election they believed was stolen.

While it was hardly an "#insurrection," what happened on #January6 had a lasting impact on our country. It changed our relationship with our government, our media, and each other. It made us question the fairness of our justice system, and the fairness of our elections.

At the start of 2024 we find ourselves headed into another election year when our country isn't just divided in half, as it was four years ago between #Republicans and #Democrats. America is now divided into thirds, between left, right, and center, with 41% of voters identifying as Independents, a first in our entire history.

Recent polls show #RFKJr leading both #Biden and #Trump with Independent voters, and beating all competition with younger voters under age 45. He's holding steady at around 22-24%, making this officially a three-way race for the White House.

Obviously, #Kennedy's message of bipartisanship is resonating with voters. But can he manage to heal the deep divide in a country that's so polarized? Or are Americans unwilling to set their differences aside? With two wars raging abroad, we also find ourselves on the brink of civil war at home. Is Kennedy the Remedy?

Tonight's guest says yes -- and she speaks from experience. Karen Lorre has known Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. for 33 years.

She says he's uniquely qualified to lead a divided nation at this critical moment in our history. From her own personal knowledge of the candidate, she says Bobby is a healer. It's always been a part of his nature -- and not just in his work as an environmentalist, healing our polluted landscapes and waterways, but in his relationships with humans, animals, and all living things.

Karen is a volunteer on the #Kennedy24 campaign, even though by her own admission she's never been political or worked in politics before -- because she truly believes he's our nation's last best hope, and that #RFK is the leader America needs. Tonight, she will tell us why.
