Running the case could give the opportunity to expose evidence . It seemed they avoided that in Trump's case because the evidence would support his assertions. A bogus committee decided on 'insurrection'. Giuliani wasn't able to give his evidence either, the process avoided it. A properly run case with evidence exposed could be an advantage.
