A tragic incident in Texas claimed the lives of six members of a single family, including two children, when a 17-year-old pickup truck driver reportedly collided head-on with their minivan while allegedly traveling in the wrong lane of the two-lane highway, according to authorities.

Family members stated that the victims were returning from a post-Christmas outing to a wildlife safari park when the fatal accident occurred on U.S. 67, approximately 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) provided details of the collision on Wednesday, indicating that their preliminary investigation revealed the teenage driver of a Silverado pickup, traveling south, veered into the northbound lane and collided with the family’s minivan.

The DPS emphasized that the area where the crash occurred is designated as a “no passing” zone, ABC News reported.
