A True Montana Ghost Town

The mining town of Coolidge sprang up with the construction of the Elkhart mine and mill in 1914. Originally a tent camp to house the miners and millers, the towns population soon grew to about 350.
With the silver prices dropping in the 1920s and the onset of the Great Depression, the people moved away. With the closure of the Post Office in 1932, Coolidge became a ghost town and like many settlements, became abandoned.
