Abandoned Military Radar Domes

These abandoned, military radar domes began operations in November 1950. The communications, cryptography and radar station were manned by 5 to 6 army personnel.
An aircraft control and warning squadron apparently could detect any aircraft within 150 mile radius.
What remains of this Washington State Military Base is the motor pool, a gym and theatre, power plant where coal was used to supply steam heat, the barracks ruins and several other buildings.
At its peak, 188 military and 21 civilians were based here. By Aug 1960, only 65 personnel were left. The facility closed later that year and most of the housing was relocated.
