Iconic vintage car commercials – Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, Chevy Camaro and more

Lets take a trip through history and watch some vintage car commercials! From the mid-sixties to 1969, with a few stops in the 80s and 2000s, to show just how much things have changed, or havent.
I will watch and comment on a few of them, like the first ever Ford Mustang Commercial in 1965 at the World’s Fair in NYC, to the iconic Volcano commercial for the all new Chevy Camaro in 67.
Of course, we cant forget about Dodge, the quintessential Muscle Car with the Charger R/T. Do you have a Date with Dodge Fever?
Mid 60s were laid back with Ford Galaxy 500 or Chevy II aka Nova or with the no nonsense narration of Lt Col John “Shorty” Powers for the Olds Delta 88. Pontiac was breaking the mold with cars and ads with a very uncharacteristically dynamic ad for 65 with their track focused commercial!
Transitioning to the late 60s is probably the most expensive of all these ads short of the Camaro ad, is the AMC Ambassador ad, with the Red Carpet Ride ad, all done with an actual unfurling red carpet!
But, lets face it. 1969 is the year to beat, and Ford’s LSD fueled ad campain of “Ford gives you better ideas” is both psychotic and hilarious at the same time! Ford Torino, Ford Mustang from Grande to Mach1, LTD all seen in the “Performance Corner”, if you had a time machine!
To round it all off, we compare these to the 2000s, Honda Element “I Pinch” ad, that spurred a series of Element and Friends ads, website, video game and even a Myspace page for the crab.
And since this is stuck in my head, yes, the 1985 Chevy Astro commercial. Because the 80s is what happens if you take 1969 and make a decade out of it. With more neon colors.
