#Eclipse #Eclipse2024 #SolarEclipse I head out to Derby Vermont to see the Total Solar Eclipse, on Apr 8th, 2024. It was an awesome adventure, and of course, I just have to check out the local Dodge dealership, Northpoint CDJR in Derby, VT. I check out the Ram TRX, the last Supercharged Hemi versions. They have a gorgeous new one in red, and used one, both with fair prices. I also check out the brand new 2023 Dodge Durango Hellcat. Or course I spoke to the salesman, and debated buying it, since Dodge reintroduced rebates, cash back and the works. I think you can negotiate even further. But the big show is the eclipse. I am recording more in a home video style, talking about Eclipse facts, from the crescent shaped shadows, to the Moon and the shadow front, the darkness in the sky, even the temperature drop. I did my best using the eclipse glasses over the GoPro lense. I have seen three eclipses, but this one was by far the most spectacular, and most impactful on me. Its why Im chosing this moment to change the nature of this channel. It seems rather fitting. But, now, more than ever. Oil is thicker than blood! #Dodge #Charger #EV I redesign the new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona as well as the 2025 Dodge Charger Sixpack to fix some of the questionable design choices, from the hatchback to the long nose and front overhang. First off, I take the Dodge Charger 2-door, removing the hatchback, changing the angle of the windshield, moving the sail panel forward, which also fixes the roof line and rear window. The biggest change comes with the shortening of the overhang, and making the nose smaller. A small tweek is the lower crease to make the car seem more supple. The 2024 Dodge Charger 4 door is the primary model, in other words, this design was created first, followed by the coupe. Still, the roofline needs correcting, the hatchback removed, adding a proper trunk, and of course, shortening the nose. The final design, I think, is actually a good looking car, that truly would follow in the footsteps of the prior Scat Packs and Hellcat Chargers. The fun part is the front fascia. The R-Wing is a missed opportunity to add pop-up headlights, a feature that has gained popularity in recent years. The R-Wing would actually prove useful in pedestrian collisions. And it looks awesome! The gas powered car, the Charger Sixpack, with the Hurricane Twin-Turbo inline-6 does not have the R-Wing, but that doesn’t mean it cannot take cues from the 1968-1970 Charger, with concealed headlamps. The prototype of the new Dodge Charger Daytona gives us the grill DNA, which can be moved to the grill, and over the headlights. I think this would be a very good look design. Ultimately, this is fairly useless I believe, since Dodge deliberately made the Sixpack ugly, to push what Stellantis wants. A purely EV based brand, regardless of what the customers, the Mopar Brotherhood wants. They forget that many of their non Muscle Cars are bought by us as well, supporting the brand we loved. But we are alienated. MotorTrend, presented by Hagerty, comes after several channels, like Butter Da Insider, Hemi Muscle, and possibly others for showing Jay Leno and Tim Kiniskis speaking, despite all this being perfectly legal, under Fair Use. As of publishing, nothing has changed, and MotorTrend is still coming after channels, though Butter is talking to Dodge, to find a solution. This is the kind of silencing that wont bode well for Dodge. If we can’t discuss Dodge, even for one of their most amazing cars, the 2023 Last Call Dodge Demon 170, then we cant talk about Dodge at all. Without us, there is even less chance of interest being generated, and cars will end up sitting at dealerships for months to years! Spread this video, talk to other channels, tweet this, and make Dodge stand up. We were able to make enough noise to get Armand his replacement Challenger, after the car was delivered with major body defects, so surely we can get this done as well. #Dodge #Defect #Recall Major Manufacturing Defect Found on Brand New 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Widebody. Customer hears squeaking sounds and returns to Dodge service only to be told the car needs to be cut up, welded and glued again, as the factory forgot to glue the car, with the body adhessive! This is outrageous so I’m calling on @Dodge to offer this customer a replacement car. It’s unacceptable to spend so much money, be disrespected by Dodge Customer Service, and ultimately told to drive a car that’s supposed to be brand new, yet welding by any old shop. If there’s a collision, then what? This is more than just a buyback issue, but leads to questions of other cars affected. Dodge needs to inspect the work logs and find out if any of the cars built during that time frame are affected as well. This is a SERIOUS collision danger, as these cars may not hold up in case of an accident. If you have squeaking or have had body damage with your new 2023 Last Call Dodge, EMAIL me immediately. Dodge reveals the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona two door and dour door hatch EV. Also, the 2025 Dodge Charger Sixpack is revealed, sporting the Hurricane twin turbo in-line six. So, I go into geeky levels of detail over every single detail, easter egg and secret message hidden in the video, from the Dodge brothers’ history, and how they stuck it to Henry Ford, to their influence on Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Lincoln and the entire automotive industry globally. There are some really interesting Dodge advertising slogans that appear, but you will never guess which cars are showcased in this video. Of course, I do rant on this car. The Dodge Daytona is set to replace the Charger and Challenger Hemi, from V8, superchargers and manual transmissions to EVs and one single in line six. True, all-wheel-drive is now a thing, but the question remains, which will be faster. Specs don’t always tell the entire story. So, if Tim Kiniskis sees this, I challenge you to talk to me, a true gear head, that related to John and Horace Dodge in more than one way. One thing, the Elixir joke fell flat, and misses the mark. You could have mentioned the Challenger Demon 170 running on ethanol in so many better ways. A new series, where I tell some interesting stories revolving around cars, but not only. Since I was in the United States Air Force, many of my stories involve military life, aviation, as well as law enforcement, and all of them at the same time! Story One – No spoilers! But it does involve going over 100mph in a Ford Crown Victoria somewhere in Missouri Story Two – An aircraft gets pulled over. You heard that right. An Airplane gets pulled over by a police car. This is the only time that Im aware of when something like this happened. Highlight of a Chevy Impala’s police career! This takes place at Tinker AFB and the “traffic stop” involves an E-3 Sentry aircraft, based on a vintage Boeing 707 airliner. Story Three – Is a story that reminds all of us that we have impacts, even if we feel undervalued. Sometimes these impacts save lives and billions of dollars. Also takes place at Tinker AFB, at the 552AMXS hangars, home of AWACS maintenance. These stories are as much to motivate me, as they are to entertain you, and remind you of a world where we were much more united. Regardless of what was happening, unknown to the public, as Americans, we stood united, as one. Car clubs are dying, and its not the reason you might. I go over what happened to a club Ive been a member of for over 10 years, the Rockland Rodders, a club that dates back to the 80s, street racing and underground racing, that matured into a club, with deep ties to many communities, that raised money for charities. Yet, when I decided to run, unopposed to be president of this club, the current board decided to end the club rather than continue our legacy, of spreading car culture. Why? Because I was looking towards younger generations, that love cars, and work hard for their cars and life style, much like the Baby Boomer generation did way back in the day. I don’t have any issue with Boomers, but there are many that give this generation such a bad name, and our board lived up to that poor reputation with how this club was ended. Let’s look at 2023 in review, from a Mopar and Rip Roaring Garage Perspective. Of course, we all know the story of the US Military Service member that had ordered a Dodge Demon 170, but had the dealership sell his car to a higher bidder, while he is deployed in Iraq. I will give my opinion and feelings on this whole thing, as well as talk a bit about how other Mopar fans feel about it. This aren’t looking good for Mopar in 2024, based solely on the bitterness car guys have about dealership markups, screwing over customers that ordered cars, the sticker cars, the Black Ghost sham car. The Brotherhood of Muscle is very disgruntled, but what do you think and feel about things? While admirable how Butterdagreat and TK Garage were able to get a good resolution for this one soldier, many other customers were left in the dust, without the cars they ordered. I also go over the state of the RRG fleet, with most cars being down, in part due to my own health. For my friends and true Rippers, I do give an update on where things are, about me, the channel and the future. I go over each car, and talk about its status. Are they running or not. Next episode will be the Rippers’ Rides, and its not too late to send your submission, with whatever you want to say about your car, how you got into cars, or anything else! What makes a good driving instructor? What makes a good tactical driving instructor? Lets look at two schools, two generations, with two approaches. We look at PTC Driving school versus Team Oneil. One is professional, the other cant even back up (seriously). PTC has clean, undamaged cars like the Crown Victoria, the quintessential cop car, that prove the instructors know how to perform maneauvers such as the J Turn, High Speed Backing, or the Breach (granted, the breach cars seem to be Towncars, for their heavier mass, and do show battle damage, which is unavoidable). Team Oneil, as shown on a Wire show, has their main cars looking WORSE that PTC’s breach car. On top of that, they are focused more on drown shots, rather than showing proper technique. I have been trained in EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) and most everything this instructor is saying is incorrect. On top of that, he uses terms incorrectly and comes off as a poser. So, the question is this. Is this a generational issue, or a political one? Is Wire pushing an otherwise legitimate school to look goofy and silly on camera for their angle, or is Team Oneil this bad at driving? We don’t know, but at the end of the day, more than ones appearance, the cars reflect a driver’s skill. So which school would you trust to train you? Or more importantly, if you could pick two drivers to get your family members out of a bad situation, which student do you pick? PTC or Team Oneil? I know who Im picking. RIP James Garner. Lets talk about tree times car manufacturers got tricked into making cars that nobody wanted, not even the small vocal minority of people that claimed to want them. Be it in comments, or asking dealerships about certain models, options or trims, to auto journalists and media writing endless articles for their own personal needs, car companies find themselves listening, and building cars that ultimately go unsold, needing huge rebates and discounts and even then the cars just sit. Car No 1, is a car that was so specific. It had to be a wagon, diesel, manual and…brown? Jalopnik commenters were the ones that pushed this car to production, leading to a massive sales flop that was overshadowed by another big scandal the manufacturer had. Oopsie! Car No 2, is a car that on paper makes sense. Its not bad, but falls under a whole category of “Americans want a small truck”. And while this trend is based on legitimate needs, many manufacturers are taking cars, SUVs, crossovers and turning those into unibody trucks, like the new Ford Ranger, the Honda Ridgeline (first gen, since they seemed to have learned their lesson, but not enough) or the Rivian. Here’s the ingridients. Body on frame, separate bed, small size. Simple enough, and yet, Car No 2 falls short, even if it meets all those requirements. Car No 3, while not the biggest financial loss, is the biggest moral loss, leaving Dodge with egg on their face (more egg I guess). Yes, you might already know, but I do cover a few more details on the lies regarding the 1970 Dodge Challenger “Black Hoax” car, and how Dodge beliebed! The car itself isnt bad, but was hyped as this historic car, to the point buyers shelled out nearly double the MSRP. Lets take a trip through history and watch some vintage car commercials! From the mid-sixties to 1969, with a few stops in the 80s and 2000s, to show just how much things have changed, or havent. I will watch and comment on a few of them, like the first ever Ford Mustang Commercial in 1965 at the World’s Fair in NYC, to the iconic Volcano commercial for the all new Chevy Camaro in 67. Of course, we cant forget about Dodge, the quintessential Muscle Car with the Charger R/T. Do you have a Date with Dodge Fever? Mid 60s were laid back with Ford Galaxy 500 or Chevy II aka Nova or with the no nonsense narration of Lt Col John “Shorty” Powers for the Olds Delta 88. Pontiac was breaking the mold with cars and ads with a very uncharacteristically dynamic ad for 65 with their track focused commercial! Transitioning to the late 60s is probably the most expensive of all these ads short of the Camaro ad, is the AMC Ambassador ad, with the Red Carpet Ride ad, all done with an actual unfurling red carpet! But, lets face it. 1969 is the year to beat, and Ford’s LSD fueled ad campain of “Ford gives you better ideas” is both psychotic and hilarious at the same time! Ford Torino, Ford Mustang from Grande to Mach1, LTD all seen in the “Performance Corner”, if you had a time machine! To round it all off, we compare these to the 2000s, Honda Element “I Pinch” ad, that spurred a series of Element and Friends ads, website, video game and even a Myspace page for the crab. And since this is stuck in my head, yes, the 1985 Chevy Astro commercial. Because the 80s is what happens if you take 1969 and make a decade out of it. With more neon colors. I review one of the fakest car channels ever. Ideal Media is as fake as possible, pushing weird lies about the Dodge Challenger, specifications and costs associated with owning one of these cars. From fake history of the late 60s Muscle Cars to the infamous “Black Ghost” Challenger perpetrated by Hagerty Insurance, they cant seem to get their numbers right. On top of that, they just repeat the same old tired jokes, that just arent funny. They havent been since the Carter administration. But, what made me truly review this, is another example of a fake internet guy claiming to be a “master mechanic” that clearly has ZERO knowledge about these cars, or even general mechanic knowledge. The guy even uses a fake edited in backdrop of a garage. The truth is, that they envy us. Not for the cars, but for our camaraderie, our brotherhood, that will stand even if you take away the cars. What happens when Li-Ion Batteries are exposed to pressure, crushing, shock or heat? Let’s look at the recent video posted by Hydraulic Press Channel and discuss what is happening in several cases, of different types of Lithium Ion batteries, from single cells, to consumer electronics such as phone, iphones, to power tool battery packs. As much as I do like their channel, I will call out certain statements regarding the battery technology used in these electronics as well as EV cars. This comes in the wake of the Luton Airport massive parking garage fire. On top of this, I do want to discuss the concerns with oxidation of home electronics, off-gassing of chemicals and other forms of slow burn, and possible toxic exposure. #Tesla #GigaPress #GigaCasting What is Giga Casting? What is Giga Press 2.0? What about Giga Press 1.0 for that matter? Giga Casting, also known as Giga Press, is a technological process of high pressure die-casting aluminum, for large assemblies. The process uses heat as well as pressure. Tesla is the most notable user of this process, using Idra Giga Press machinery for current and upcoming models. Why is this relevant? GM, Toyota, VW are also investing significantly in Giga-casting. The big problem in finding out more about Giga Press is the Tesla fans. They often do not understand technology and resort to using buzz words to justify their purchases or fan-ness. Tesla is known for branding existing tech processes, and calling it innovation. The Tesla “Unboxed Process” is merely the old way of building vehicles, prior to the assembly line (which Tesla still uses). The reason Tesla is moving back to this stationary method is due to Giga Press. Giga Casting is the means by which Tesla hopes to build the as much of an entire car in one cast. The reason for this is to cut down on robot or human assembly, to cut costs and improve supply chain mechanics. I do need to cover a bit of definitions, since Tesla fans (and Elon Musk himself) conflate terms. So I do talk about body-on-frame cars, and the innovation of the FWD drive train assembly. No, sadly exoskeleton cars are just unibody cars. There are some innovations at Tesla, and that is the means by which molds are made. Sand is often used when making molds, but using a 3D printer to make such molds is novel, and clever. Obviously 3D printed molds can yield complex geometries in die-cast parts. Giga-casting has flaws though. Many flaws. The biggest is the lack of repairability. Parts cannot be replaced, since its one single component. Much like the Rivian dent scandal, where a small dent cost $55,000 to repair, Tesla will suffer even worse when it comes to replacing panels and other parts. There seems to be this conflation between innovation and “fewer parts”. More parts means cheaper repairs, easier replacement of smaller components. Another flaw is the casting itself, that will result in deformation of the end product. Casting is rather rough to begin with, but works in heavy, smaller components, such as engine blocks, differential housings, etc. Casting the whole body of the car is why Tesla’s are known for very poor body fitment and panel gaps. Ultimately, Giga Casting only benefits the manufacturer, cutting their costs, while it increases repair costs, shortens vehicle life and durability. Aluminum as it is work hardens, resulting is stress risers, cracks and fissures that can total out a car. This is why in aviation, they replace entire aircraft skins, ribs, spars regularly. This cannot be done with single pieces made with a Giga Press. Any repair in effect becomes replacing the entire car. So, get ready for disposable cars, and of course, higher insurance costs due to the increased repair costs (if repairs are even cost effective to begin with!). #Trump #Biden #EPA Trump Pledges to End Biden EV Mandates. We get into the political climate in the US, and how its affecting us, from EVs to trucking, jobs and the economy. Inflation is already beating us down, but we can expect more hardship due to regulations from Environmental activists, increasing the prices of trucking, and ultimately food. EVs are still not economically viable, as they need subsidies and regulations, in the hope to increase their sales. All it does, is increase the prices of ICE cars, as a means to offset the massive losses in EV. Things are changing fast though, between the economic state of Western countries, to public opinion and appetite. I go over John Stossel’s interview with a Pennsylvanian trucker, about the new regulations on diesel trucks. These regulations will increase the costs of new diesels by roughly 30%. Forget about the fact that there are no electric big rigs, this will add cost to goods shipped in the state. The problem we see with older generations, is that they are willing to debate, and argue rationally against such measures and regulations. But you cannot argue with a religion. Its why I will keep saying it, you either convert to them, or you say no. Of course, these politicians behave this way for power and money, but as a thought exercise, imagine what tech we could have if we did not use bans, but rather proactive solutions, such as air scrubbers. One cant help but think of terraforming, Mars, and other endeavors that never happen, in part due to the EPA. The shocking aspect in Pennsylvania, is the Environment Quality Board, made up on self proclaimed “experts” such as the Heads of the PA Wildlife Board, Fish and Game or the Museum Board. This is more “experts say”, in an attempt to not be questioned, so us plebs merely obey. The problem is, people cannot AFFORD to obey. There isnt enough money, and this is how things collapse. Gavon Newsom, governor of California is still doubling down on the ICE ban, with states like PA, NY, NJ, following blindly, right off the cliff. But, hopefully this will change in 2024. BONUS I take a quick look at the Luton Airport fire, where officials in the UK flat out lied that it was caused by a diesel fire. It was a 2014 Range Rover Diesel HYBRID, a hybrid with a Li-Ion battery pack that exploded, igniting other EVs, causing the massive inferno. Recent news covers the ground breaking for the $4B Panasonic EV Battery Plant in De Soto KS, to supply 2170 Long Cylinder EV batteries for auto makers. We will look over several articles, including Panasonic’s own press release regarding the power consumption required to keep the lights on for the plant. Yes, an entire coal power plant will be needed to power this EV plant. A coal plant slated for decommissioning due to environmental concerns is now suddenly ok to remain open. Not for your power, not for your electric bill getting cheaper, no, for Panasonic to build batteries for EVs that nobody wants to buy. Before we get into more car related aspects, I do want to mention how politicians in red states seem to be fighting over getting this plant, and the associated power plant. Oklahoma, Wyoming and Kansas duked it out, with Kansas ultimately winning out the contract. Somehow this is deemed a win for job creation? These are jobs that will not last, but give a false sense of job security to workers. Even if EVs do sell, and some makes (like Tesla) have stronger sales (though dwindling also), Dodge is not one of those makes. Yes, Dodge. This plant is a joint venture between Panasonic, BMW and Stellantis. These batteries will be powering the new Dodge Charger Daytona EV along with every other EV Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram will offer. Dodge went from being the bad boys to getting pats on the head from their EU overlords. I go into my opinions on why the car is so important, dating back to the Civil War, Lincoln, the Wild Wild, and what the horse meant, and the transition to the horse being replaced by the automobile (focus on the auto, the autonomy). Prohibition saw a surge in the popularity and use of cars, leading to the birth of Nascar. Right now, we are faced with that existential threat to our way of life and our values. Dodge hopes that we will buy these EVs by making their gasoline cars…suck. Last time I talked about the Hurricane Challenger at the drag racing event on Woodward Ave in Detroit. Since then, I have learned that the live streaming event, the Roadkill Nights suspended the stream anytime the Hurricane Challenger did a run. People were booing, mocking its performance and sound. #Dodge #DirectConnection #HurricaneEngine Dodge Hurricane Engine Review (sound and quarter mile) based on the video in which the Direct Connection Challenger Drag Pak, with the inline-6 twin turbo Hurricane engine for upcoming Dodge cars attempts some drag runs. The car is shown racing on the famous Woodward Ave drag strip, in Detroit, MI, the heart of American Muscle Car culture. Video has been covered by several channels so far, but let’s help out a smaller channel, @TheMoparJunkie for recording such an important piece of automotive news, showcasing the sound the Dodge Hurricane Challenger makes. Regardless of Dodge Hurricane Sound, the video is very important! (Also, congrats to him, on his beautiful new Chrysler 300C!) The Dodge Hurricane Challenger Drag Pak underperforms, in every metric that matters to buyers. Sure, it still looks good, but speed and exhaust sound are very muted. The Direct Connection team blames this on the car not being dialed in, which either shows that they don’t have a product anywhere near ready, or that this is the final product. A slow, heavy six cylinder car. Dodge Hurricane engine 0-60 can’t be all that great either, from the drag runs in the video. Dodge Hurricane engine exhaust sounds more like a turbo diesel dump truck, or a bus than a muscle car. This is Woodward Ave! Manufacturers bring out their fastest, dominating cars to test, as well as show off to enthusiasts. Yet, this is what Dodge thought was good enough. It is a major failure on Dodge’s part, in my opinion. But, this is a win for us. Dodge realizes their EV electrification plans are not going well. EV’s are becoming the poisonous fruit for the auto industry. Sure, a Hemi V8 would be ideal, but this car, and its future failure will prove that we want internal combustion, and we want V8s (in the front, and with manuals please. Thanks GM *insert snarky Vette smile*) I do mention ButterdaGreat’s video (burying the hatchet), and while I agree and think it’s a good video, I make my claim why Dodge cannot bring back the Apache 392 Hemi. As much as I want that, it doesn’t make sense. At least not for the next few years, by which time a new engine would be needed anyway. California is sending surveys to classic car owners as well. This is not a coincidence. They know the effect classic cars have on young people. It is a sign of weakness. So, its on us, to step up, and get involved. Check out your local car clubs, and join them. It’s a fun way to get into this lifestyle, where we help each other, from buying a car, to repairs, and even yes, political issues. I was right. They’re banning most automotive chemicals, sprays, oils, lubricants, etheres and more! True, its Canada, starting January 2024, there will be sweeping bans on anything flammable (though not exclussively). The Canadian Environmental agency deemed these chemicals bad mojo, without any consideration to the effects on labor, and the economy. Most of us watching, are in the US, so the question is, will this affect us? Of course it will. Smaller companies, that somehow manage to file any exemption paperwork, pay entire armies of attorneys for the unfeasibility studies when it comes to compliance to the new regs, must produce reformulated products for the Canadian market. This means that for the same revenue, a company has to make two products, with two formulations, serving the same exact purpose. Obviously the reformulated garbage won’t be good. It might not even work, but the issue is, with a growing ban by states (since they do love jumping on ban bandwagons), this leaves the company no choice but to drop the old good version and make ONLY the compliant version. Brakleen was a great example of this. This product was itself a response to an older ban, but over the years, the product actually becomes good. Much like with CAFÉ standards that are met by cars that actually perform, and are what we want, the moment that occurs, the standards are increased. In some cases, like with CAFÉ to insane, impossible levels. Its as if theyre not meant to be complied with, and rather meant to end said industry or market. WD-40 even has to audacity to market speak on AvE’s video, corpo speaking, trying to promote reformulated garbage. But we have seen this before with Kleenstrip Aircract Remover, and the ban of Methylene Chloride, just because two morons FAFOed and their mommies went to the EPA to ban the chemical. Funny how that their argument was a safety argument. Is the EPA now OSHA? Either way, this safety culture is all about control and protecting their power. So stuck up and get ready. #UAW #STRIKE #Dodge #Brampton #Unifor UAW goes on strike! GM, Ford and Stellantis factories are shut down in the US, as well as Canada. Unifor (formerly CAW) is the Canadian union for auto workers at plants such as Brampton or Windsor will vote on their strike this coming Monday (Sept 18, 2023). The media is covering the strike however few if any large outlets are talking about what the UAW or Unifor’s list of demands are. So, I find their demands, and go over them. They are as outlandish as ever, from large pay increases, instant promotions, 30 hour work weeks, guaranteed jobs, pension increases, increased medical coverage, and more. Yes…I go on a rant on unions in general, not just UAW or Unifor. Both sides are delusional and out of touch. This will only hurt the workers and population at large, that depend on their vehicles. To be fair, theres a lot going on, and I would not be surprised if Brampton shuts down, the factory that built our Dodge Challengers and Charger, as Stellantis and the others are gearing towards the production of more EVs, despite how the market does not want to adopt them. CEOs are equally delusional though, as I talk about the attitude and entitlement found on both sides of labor disputes. NHTSA is demanding that a large auto parts supplier issue a recall for over 54 million cars (at time of recording, the number seems to have gone up since). ACR, an airbag and safety equipment manufacturer based out of Tennessee is being asked to recall any vehicle equipped with its airbags, made between 2010 and 2017. Vehicles included are Ford Mustangs and F-150s, BMW X5s (various models), Hyundai and Kias, as well as several GM Models, such as the Chevy Malibu, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse. Stellantis is included as well with Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 cars made between those ranges. ACR denies there is a problem, and honestly, one tends to agree considering that only 5 injuries and 2 fatalities occurred since 2010 over the spread of these tens of millions of vehicles, many having been in collisions that resulted in deployment of airbags. This hits home as I was in such a collision, where the airbag itself (a Takata airbag) resulting in my broken neck. So I do want to discuss the way these devices work. They will save a person at the very edge of what was not survivable, creating the headlines for wild collisions, but at the same time, for minor collions (of which there are far more events), the injuries are greater than they would be without these devices. I also discus the IIHS Crash Test of the 2009 Chevy Malibu vs 1959 Chevy Bel Air. This is an organization that benefits Insurance companies, and works at their behest, not ours. As such, their interest is in imposing what they believe to be cheaper for insurance companies. I talk about the crash test, but since recording, I learned (remembered) that the car in question was bought and evidence was found the car’s frame was tampered with, to produce that spectacular footage. And if safety devices are always a better option, then why do these recalls even happen? This brings the question of what happens when these airbags age? What happens with corrosion and decay over the years, decades? Will there be recalls of 40, 50 year old cars? What is your opinion? A close friend was in a serious car crash with his brand new Dodge Charger Daytona 392. The car was totaled, but it kept him safe. It is a testament to how well made these cars are. They don’t just go fast really well, but are safe. I go into a more in depth analysis of the collision and point out where the Dodge shined, despite such a heavy collision against a large pickup truck. The car was rear ended, and shoved into another car in front, resulting in severe damage to the trunk and engine compartment area. Despite all this, the cabin frame did not buckle, to where the doors were opened easily, allowing quick escape. The damage also reveals some peculiarities of Hemi’s (Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300 and 300C) of how these cars behave, in part to the large tires that seem to act as bumpers, preventing ingress into the cabin space. This was a very sad story, though it does have a happy outcome, as my friend was able to find another new Daytona 392. In this crazy market, getting one without markup is awesome. But he, as well as all of us here won’t forget that the poor little car gave itself to save her occupants. RIP Daytona. Things arent as good for the second car in the video. It’s a 50th Anniversary car, a 2020 Dodge Challenger Hemi. It’s a 5.7 V8, that my friend has been modifying for some time now. It has esthetic as well as performance modifications, as the car has been on a diet, shedding weight to the point it was holding its own against 392 Scat Packs. From the simpler to do oil catch can, to the insanely awesome rear seat delete with OEM parts, he made this car his, and was keeping me up whenever he added (or removed) something. So it broke my heart to learn the reason for his silence in the past few days. The car was stolen. Its horrible when your car is stolen but even the hope of recovering it and taking on scuffs, broken windows and the smell of ashtray was dashed when I saw what was done. It was totaled as well. So, please, do what you can when it comes to anti-theft measures. It’s a sad world when you can barely have a nice car without idiots doing things to your car or flat out taking it. Police are of little use, and completely pointless in most US cities. But, please, reach out if you are bummed. Either in a comment, email, anything. And I know that even if Im late I will answer. We are all that we have, as brothers. As far as the UAW strike. I feel that FCA (Dodge) workers may be in for a hard time, as Dodge likely will shut down the Brampton Ontario plant without replacing the assembly line, to get rid of contracts or workers, or simply to offshore. History may repeat itself as Ford did in 2011 with the end of the Crown Victoria (Grand Marquis and Towncar) when the St Thomas plant in Ontario was shut down, and torn down. Unions don’t care, nor do they help the harders working employees, since its all about seniority, not passion or dedication. And that is one thing I have seen with the Brampton workers. #Hagerty #BlackghostHoax #Woke Two different stories blend into one. The 1970 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost scam, as being a legendary drag racer, as well as Hagerty going full environmental carbon credits, DEI and woke. This all began with me digging deeper as Hagerty non-renewed me and failed to pay for some minor claims as a regular insurance company. I suspect its due to the older video I made about them, and the magazine, pushing political propaganda, and nothing about collector cars. Looking through their website and searches, you notice how hard Hagerty is propping up the story of the Black Ghost. The Youtube channel Uncle Tony’s Garage goes into this way better (link in pinned comment), and I do recommend watching it in its entirety. This car can in no way be a drag racing legend. It’s a bone stock car, fully loaded (making it heavier). But looking further we find the whole MGM movie deal, how everthing about this car is a manufactured story, including the National Historic Vehicle Registry (owned by Hagerty), its showcasing in various Concours d’Elegance, Amelia Island showings (also owned by Hagerty). The sad part is that if they wanted diversity, they could have chosen Big Willie Robinson, who has a well documented history of doing good for the car community. But its about money, and making it for themselves. Hagerty is on board with carbon credits, every woke talking point, to where they exclude the largest demographic. I suspect that is what they are doing, by cancelling policies by some algo, for some client recomposition. Hagerty is now engaged in political activism, they pledge support to stakeholders, but not their customers or even share holders. What happened to this once great company? Can it be fixed? Can any of them return? If you want, listen to the video. There are some odd tells, showing there is more going on, mostly from the operator’s nervousness or silence. Dodge Challenger Shakedown Narrow Body that was supposed to be Smoke Show Gray, but instead its in Destroyer Gray. I like the change, much nicer overall I think. I do go over the car, the changes in the production model and what makes it stand out. While the car does have markup, I do reveal why there is a big incentive to sell these cars cheaper, in order to get the bigger heavy hitters on the lot. Dodge has a plan that just might work. In the meantime, the big thing is the interior. For those that don’t like the bright red, the Shakedown’s come with black Alcantarra but with red stitching along the door panels, dash and center console. It’s a very nice touch and as opposed to other colors (like green!) the red stands out very nicely and accents the red stripe on the outside. The negative would be the badging that is stickers, but it does harken back to the IROC days and the 80s (kind of why I picked that song from Alex Nakarada!) If you are interested in buying it, let me know and I can try to work out a deal (not afficilated other than being friends with my salesman that sold me a bunch of cars, though I will say that Im very…VERY tempted to get this for myself) It does have the Handling Package, with the flat bottom steering wheel, the 275 Pirelli’s, red calipers, and of course, the Shaker hood. Its just a regular 392 Scat Pack, with the TorqueFlite automatic. The question is…which one do I trade in to get it LOL. While editing this video, I admit I started to really like this car. And while it has a markup, it is no different than any of the other Last Call Dodges, so it is being treated as any other Challenger on the lot. #Charger #Hellcat #Hemi Happy 4th of July! It’s the Dodge Charger owners’ turn to find out what our cars say about ourselves. Add in a touch or roasting too, and lets go. We start with the V6 Chargers, the Charger SXT and Charger GT trims, including the Police Package cars, that include some of the Altima Vibes, and old beat up Crown Vic wacker vibes. Lets try to tone that done a bit there lol. We head into V8 territory with the Dodge Charger R/T Hemi, off to the Dodge Charger 392 Scat Pack, narrow and Wide Body, and of course, some ranting on Dodge, ads and red interiors! Supercharged Chargers are the Hellcats, the 717HP models, narrow and again Wide Body, going up to the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye Wide Body, and of course the top dog Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak Wide Body (mouthful!)
