Bill Gates: Crops Need To Be Made "Climate Resilient" Through Gene Sequencing & AI

Speaking at the UN's COP28 climate summit, Bill Gates—who believes the world is vastly overpopulated—suggests the use of gene sequencing, AI and satellite data to make crops "climate resilient", in order to "improve the lives of over 500 million farmers".

"We really owe it to the poor farmers to give them better tools... There's reasons to believe that by using the latest techniques of being able to sequence genes, using AI, using satellite data... we can make [crops] far more productive and far more climate resilient. They'll be able to improve the lives of over 500 million farmers."

"We don't just want these improvements to be in the lab, we want them to scale up. We're impatient to see this done. Prioritising the highest impact interventions like we do in health will be very important."
