The U.S. has faced 77 attacks since Oct 17 in the Middle East. It has retaliated to attacks on U.S. troops from Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria but it has not yet responded militarily to Yemen-based Houthi rebels. The Associated Press reported that the U.S. fears a new front opening in the Israel-Hamas war and the collapse of a shaky truce with Yemen if it attacks the Houthis.
