Khan Younis hospital under pressure as casualties increase

Nasser Hospital in the Gaza city of Khan Younis is struggling to cope with an overwhelming influx of patients following Israel’s ramping up of its offensive. Footage captured on Tuesday shows injured people, including children, lying on the floor waiting for treatment, while crowds of desperate people gather in confusion as staff attempt to tend to the wounded.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that the death toll in the region since Oct. 7 has surpassed 15,890 people – 70% of them women and children — with more than 42,000 wounded. Israel, meanwhile, claims it is attempting to be more precise in its strikes following pressure from the US to avoid mass casualties.
