Chill Season 2023 has arrived in Splatoon 3, which means salmonids have once again launched an invasion on our city! This time, we'll have to wait another week to do our Squidmas shopping because the Salmonids have invaded Barnacle & Dime!Show more

With the new season update also comes a new King Salmonid! The ravenous Megalodontia makes his debut appearance in this Big Run! You know the Family Guy joke about Bigger Jaws? Well, Megalodontia is basically Bigger Maws. It targets one player at a time (indicated by a crosshair on that player), then a massive circular area will light up around that player and a couple seconds later Megalodontia will surface. This thing is the biggest King Salmonid yet, but it does have a weak spot: the red bulge with an X on its back. One other important thing to note is that Megalodontia also eats any Boss Salmonid in its massive bite radius, so whoever is being targeted may want to go where the bosses are to make some extra ammo appear.

This Big Run also marks a change in the reward system. Previously, rewards were based on your ranking compared to the rest of the player base. But as of Version 6.0.0, rewards are now based on preset egg totals announced in the Anarchy Splatcast at the start of the Big Run. This makes the gold much more accessible, since previously, though my personal high scores have gone up with each Big Run, so have the gold standards, and the gold just kept getting further and further out of reach.
