Relatives of workers trapped inside a tunnel in northern India said on Tuesday (November 28) they were happy and keen to see their loved ones again, after rescuers drilled through rocks and debris and reached them.

Officials said they were set to pull the trapped workers out one by one to safety on wheeled stretchers through a pipe 90 cm (3 feet) wide, with the process to take a couple of hours.

Dozens of rescue workers with ropes and ladders were lined up outside the tunnel and ambulances began arriving to take the 41 men to a hospital about 30 km away.
