Hundreds of migrants filmed riding on top of train to US border
The startling image of a train carrying hundreds of people on its roof has been caught on camera, as it headed towards the Mexico-US border. The train was en route from central Mexico to Piedras Negras, a border city just across from Eagle Pass, Texas, with the passengers on the roof presumably hoping to cross into the US.
The footage was shared on X by journalist Auden Cabello, and comes amid an ongoing surge in migrants, with record numbers of people attempting to enter the US. In response to the ongoing border crisis, US Customs and Border Protection has said it will temporarily suspend and reduce vehicle processing at ports of entry in Texas and Arizona. It’s debatable, however, if the unorthodox mode of transport filmed here counts as a vehicle. We suspect not.
