Credible's Rugby World Cup History 2023 - That's All Folks!

(Or at least that's all until 2027 and the fun and games begin again Down Under in Australia!)

The most recent tournament, which took place during September and October 2023 in France, was the tenth one and the last to be played under the current 20-team structure, with 24 teams participating in 2027.

A great tournament, more than a few shocks with an under-par Australian team humbled by Wales and Fiji, Portugal missing the chance to win twice in their pool and Argentina exceeding expectations yet again.

However, the tournament will sadly be remembered for its controversial 'Bunker System' and the sad and sickening events online which plagued Wayne Barnes, the Referee for the Final match.

With push back from fans and even former referee Nigel Owens, will it take a tragedy for World Rugby to listen and apply some common sense - listening to fans instead of the spotty and snotty Sports Science graduates who think that only them and their ways matter?

The final itself was not one of my favourites, but overall France did well hosting a tournament which many (myself included) thought would be plagued by the same sort of issues which faced Liverpool fans in Paris in 2022. In the end, only crap stadium PA systems during the anthems and stadium entrance issues with tickets were the only negative points (and thankfully both were remedied!)

Until 2027, that's rugby folks!
