I'm a germaphobe because of norovirus. That stuff is way more nasty compared to the coronavirus. The coronavirus felt like any other cold and flu sickness when I had it. The only difference was that I felt fatigued for a few days after symptoms went away after 48 hours. Neither virus is worth locking down for. Even with the nasty norovirus. Definitely don't allow the lockdowns to happen again! Washing your hands and staying home if your sick works. Everything else doesn't.

I'm old as dirt. I'm sure I've had the flu but if so I never noticed it. I did test positive for covid once but didn't have any real symptoms. I did have walking pneumonia once ( that fxxxx sucked! ) I had a few colds ( like everyone else). How did I treat them? Over the counter meds and not being a pussy.

Have to disagree on one point. I've never seen anyone wear a mask correctly. That makes them worse than useless it gives a false sense that your protected which leads people to ignore common sense protections against the multitude of other things.

Texas passed a law which states that cities can't override state regulations. Basically, if the state doesn't want to do lockdowns/masks, then mayors (particularly in Austin) can't have them. I really doubt that Gov Abbott is going to push for lockdowns/masks considering that a lot of GOP voters are still pissed at him for the first time.

Eventually, I bought 2 Rottweiler "companion" dogs (110 & 100 lbs) who go with me on leashes everywhere. I carry pepper spray, a "jo" fighting stick, & a .38 snubnose loaded with exploding ammo). I hurt people who won’t stay at a distance. Is THAT the kind of society we want to live in? I have studied particle measurement which includes filtration methods to remove particles. You are absolutely correct about masks doing essentially nothing as far as filtering out viruses. You could make a mask that would remove viruses, but there would be a substantial pressure drop. This means that you can't breath through it. You could try to breathe through it but you will have great difficulty. The way a mask would work to remove viruses is to include a small compressor to force the air through it. This would also pressurize the air entering your mouth and nose and thus the leaks would be out. This is what you want if you really want to remove viruses with a filter. Lacking this, masks are useless as far as removing viruses. If you do decide like Fauci that you want to try multiple mask layers, guess what? You have now increased the pressure drop required to force air through the mask layers and the leaks will be around the mask. In other words, you will be breathing unfiltered air leaking in around the mask. This means that the multiple layers are less than worthless.
