First flown in 1938, the venerable P40 Warhawk is arguably the classic AMERICAN FIGHTER PLANE of the interwar era. Configured as a single-seat, single-engine fighter bomber, the Warhawk saw extensive service with the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during WW2, including being the first aircraft to engage JAPANESE FIGHTER AIRCRAFT at Pearl Harbour. Subsequently adopted by the British Royal Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force, amongst many other allied militaries, almost 14,000 P-40s were built throughout the period. For today’s aviation art release we depict a P-40 Warhawk in desert colours banking high above the North African plains. Enjoy!
