Now, look at the size. It’s tiny, it fires a three pound shot and was designed to be effective against infantry…and you know as small as this thing is, it would be pretty devastating if you were on the receiving end of it

So, 19th century I’d say, it’s for sale with a dealer at Newark. I’ll put his name and number in the video description if you’re interested. I’ll give you the price at the end of the video

So, why is it called first of all a galloper gun…well, being so small and light, it could easily be towed by a single horse…and very quickly too…so, off it would go at a gallop dragged behind a horse to the front line.

Once at the frontline and in action, every time it was fired in anger, this small Cannon would leap in the air like a grasshopper!… so it also gained the nickname a grasshopper gun
