A-7 Corsair II: The SLUF!
The A7 Corsair 2 is a carrier-capable, light attack aircraft designed in the early 1960s. Derived from the Vought F-8 CRUSADER, the A-7 was seen as a replacement for the A-4 SKYHAWK for future service with the US Navy. However, the Corsair went on to serve the US Air Force (USAF) and the Air National Guard (ANG), in addition to overseas militaries, including the Portuguese Air Force and Hellenic Air Force of Greece. Following extensive service in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm during the first Gulf War, the A-7 was retired from US service in the early 1990s. For today’s aviation art release, we depict a pair of US Navy A-7 Corsairs high above the ocean. Enjoy!
