Officers ambushed by man with a rifle

Police in Washington D.C were checking out a report of gunfire registered on the city's ShotSpotter system. They approached the apartment building in the 3400 block of 13th place SE. When an officer shined their flashlight in an entryway, a man with a rifle aimed at them, and the officers opened fire. The suspect ran away. One officer fell while retreating, but no one was injured.
