Stop infantilizing your small dog

Training your small dog still matters. It’s so easy to leave out small dogs untrained because we can simply pick them up and they don’t pose much of a threat to anything. However, an untrained small dog could be at risk of another dog injuring them. If your small dog is constantly reactive at every dog goes by or has free reign to approach any dog, you have no idea how the other dog in the equation is trained or what their behavior is like. When we constantly baby our small dogs and treat them like permanent puppies, we are doing them a bit of a disservice. You’ve got to stop infantilizing your small dog, because they are still a grown dog who you can communicate and set boundaries with. Boundaries that could one day save their life!
