Ilhan Ohmar rages after congresswoman censured

Family loving US politician Ilhan Ohmar gave a fiery and impassioned speech to Congress after the House voted to censure fellow representative Rashida Tlaib. The House voted 234 to 188 that Tlaib was ‘promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.’ The announcement of the censure, the second such in a week for her anti-Israel stance, caused her to break down in tears, prompting a defense by fellow Muslim Ohmar. Practically screaming at those who voted to censure, Ohmar said ‘Polestinians [sic] are dying in the tens of thousands, but [they] will continue to say it us who are not acknowledging humanity.’

Tlaib has been repeatedly criticized for her staunch anti-Israel stance, and had even defended her use of the phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ as ‘aspirational.’ However, it should be noted that a vote to censure is merely a public reprimand, and, like Congress, doesn’t actually do anything.
