Instant Buyer's Remorse | I've Preordered a PlayStation Portal

There are many things I have bought over the years that I have not loved after the fact. But there are few things I have pre-ordered that I know going into it I'm going to probably not care for. One of the latest I just recently preordered is a Sony PlayStation Portal, and I had instant buyer's remorse after I preordered. So why did I do it? Let's dive into it.

First and foremost, I am not the biggest handheld gamer. I love my older, retro handhelds but I rarely, if ever, play the Switch in Handheld Mode. For me, I need a larger screen at this point in my life, so having a smaller screen on a Switch, Switch Lite, or even sometimes the Switch OLED leaves me squinting or wanting more. While the screen size will be closer to the Switch OLED's, I'm still not looking forward to playing on that small of a screen.

Secondly, I just canceled my PlayStation+ subscription, so I will not have access to the online streaming games from the retro library. As such, I am also wondering what parts of my library, if any, will I be able to access? Can I play a disc-based game if the disc is the system? I don't know.

Third, I am concerned about the analog sticks. Stick drift with potentiometers is real. I can't use my launch day DualSense controller because it drifts. I did pick up the PlayStation Edge controller, and it's fantastic, but I don't want to have to drop another $200 if the Portal develops stick drift. Can you swap the sticks? I don't know.

Finally, I want to see how the Portal performs if I connect to my cell phone outside of my home network. I know that my home network, with 1 gig fiber internet, I cannot play cloud-based gaming reliably through PSN on my PS4 or PS5. How is a 5G cellular connection going to be able to handle this? I don't know and I am legit concerned.
