During the entry, descent, and landing (EDL) phase of the Perseverance rover's mission on Mars, the up-look cameras played a critical role in capturing the rover's descent and touchdown from an upward perspective. These cameras, positioned on the rover, provided valuable visual data and imagery of the parachute deployment, the descent stage's firing, and the rover's touchdown on the Martian surface.

The up-look camera's point of view (POV) allowed NASA's mission control and scientists to monitor the various stages of the landing sequence from an upward-facing angle. This perspective provided essential insights into the performance and functionality of the landing system, including the behavior of the parachute and the descent stage, as well as the terrain and features of the landing site.
