SPOILER ALERT: Israel Wins
Israel has full confidence that they will overcome and be victorious in the current battle against their enemies. And they have good reason to possess this unwavering faith. Because God has promised their victory.
We read this great promise in Deuteronomy 33:27-29,
"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath, are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’ So Israel will live in safety; Jacob will dwell secure in a land of grain and new wine, where the heavens drop dew. Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights.”
Israel lives and will continue to flourish under God's care. Israel will not be defeated nor conquered by it's enemies. Israel is the apple of God's eye and He will come against her enemies. The surrounding ancient nations and dictators have disappeared, but Israel lives on. God created Israel for His purposes and for purposes yet to be fulfilled.
Let us read Zechariah 2:4-5, 10-13,
‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
“Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. The Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”
From this passage, we can see that the Lord will indeed protect Israel from defeat and destruction. Not only did He promise that Jerusalem will overflow with people and animals as it already does today, but He also tells us that He will be the glory within Jerusalem and will inherit Judah as his portion. In order for this to be the case, Israel must continue to exist.
In Genesis 12:2-3, God told Abram, the seed of Israel,
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Because of Israel, all the peoples on earth has been blessed through the birth, death and resurrection of our Messiah, Jesus, who was born through a Jewish lineage. And all the peoples on earth will be blessed once again by Israel when Jesus returns on the Mount of Olives to reign on earth.
In the end, Israel wins….and because Israel wins, we all win... and that is a wonderful Spoiler Alert.
