Equipped to be Warriors for Israel

As Israel battles to protect its citizens and eradicate terrorists, as the people heal from the horrific trauma and the country navigates its way through this devastating time, we can rise up and be warriors for Israel by using the gifts, abilities and positions which God has bestowed on each one of us.

Let's look at the examples of those who have gone before us.

Aaron and Hur provided their strength and encouragement as they supported Moses' hands up as he grew weary during Joshua's battle against the Amalekites. With their help, Moses' hands remained steady and Joshua overcame the Amalekite army as we read in Exodus 17.

Daniel and Abraham used the gift of being bold in prayer to intercede for others.

Daniel interceded in prayer for his people and to ask for restoration of Jerusalem as we read in Daniel 9. Abraham boldly stood before the Lord to intercede for the good people still living in Sodom in Genesis 18.

We read in 2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:21‭-‬22‬ ‭that men, talented in music, were appointed to go out ahead of the army "to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness." As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes and defeated the enemy.

We also have the examples of Esther and Joseph who were both placed in influential positions, at just the right time, to save their people.

In Exodus 35, we see that God gave people the skills and abilities needed to carry out all the work of constructing the Tabernacle.

In the New Testament, we see that Apostle Paul, who was talented with persuasive words, was called out of darkness in order to spread the gospel and save people spiritually...even to this day.

That persuasive and well-versed Paul teaches us about gifts and talents in Romans‬ ‭12:4‭-‬8‬,

"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."

In Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ we read that "we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

God has prepared in advance for us to be Warriors...to do good with what He has given us. So we can courageously be that warrior we are created and destined to be. God also tells us...

‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God promises to give us what we need, when we need it, in order to be a warrior with our specific gift.

So let us courageously and boldly use whatever gift, skill, ability or position which God has given us and be a warrior for Israel, whether that be a warrior of encouragement, or spreading the truth about the war, or providing for needs, or going before God boldly in prayer, or organizing a fundraiser or prayer group, or singing praise to God for his love and mercy, or shining our light to overcome evil and hatred.

Be that Warrior for Israel. God has equipped you to be so.
