Debunking ‘MH370 The Plane that Disappeared’ – The Worst Documentary on Netflix – #2

260823 The new three-part Netflix docuseries ‘MH370: The Plane that Disappeared’ was sold as a “first-class documentary” focusing primarily on the struggles of the next of kin of those on board the missing aircraft. Experts and family members hesitant about featuring in the documentary were assured by the production company, RAW TV, that they would stick to the facts and not dwell on baseless conspiracies. It was only after watching the trailer that they realised they had been duped. Rather than using this opportunity to explore technical areas to improve the general public’s understanding of what could and could not have happened to MH370, the documentarians – if you can call them that – chose to focus on the factually inaccurate conspiracy theories of armchair experts Jeff Wise and Florence de Changy. This led many who were deceived into starring in the documentary to denounce it. This included Grace Nathan, the daughter of a passenger on board the missing Malaysian aircraft, who, along with her father, has refused to watch the docuseries after seeing Jeff Wise in the trailer. Since its release, not only has the documentary been brutally panned, it has also been partially removed in Vietnam due to the misinformation it contains. Last month I attempted to counter a fraction of the misinformation spread by Jeff in the documentary and show that his theory is based on less than conjecture. Now I plan to tackle the third episode in the series and the claims made by Florence, who was convinced by a shadowy figure that MH370 was carrying stolen surveillance technology, forcing the Americans to shoot it down over the South China Sea. However before I begin I would like to discuss a brief Twitter spat I had with Jeff after I said in a video that he was more interested in fame and notoriety than an actual explanation for the disappearance of MH370.
