October 8th, 1963, marked a pivotal moment when Uganda Television first graced the nation's airwaves, a year after the country had gained its independence. Notably, this came after the inauguration of Radio Uganda in 1954.
Originally known as Uganda Broadcasting Service, the station underwent several transformations over the years, eventually becoming Uganda Television, and most recently, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, following the enactment of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act in 2004.
Remarkably, after six decades, it remains a dominant force on Uganda's airwaves.
