NEW INNOVATION CENTER IN KIRUHURA DISTRICT TO BOOST UGANDA'S TECHNOLOGY SECTOR
A state-of-the-art facility that will boost Uganda’s technological and skills base is nearing completion in Kiruhura district. The National Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation Centre, will offer training and research opportunities in various technology areas, such as construction, automotive, agriculture, and electronics. The project, which was launched by President Yoweri Museveni last year in Kiruhura district, is now 97 percent complete, and is expected to be handed over to government by June this year.

Quality maize production - Stakeholders want government to set up of a grain authority

This follows recent denial of Ugandan Maize to some markets within the East African Region.

Ugandan drivers have been urged to ensure they have First Aid Kits fixed in their vehicles for safety of their lives in case of any emergencies.
This message was delivered by the minister of Works and Transport Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala at the launch of emergency care and healthcare services by Samaritan Healthcare Support System in Kampala. Judicial officers have voiced their concerns regarding the persistent habit of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) discussing court rulings, decisions, and orders, which has, on occasion, impeded the execution of certain court directives and undermined the judiciary's work and access to justice.
This issue was highlighted during the Annual Registrars and Magistrates Conference held in Kampala, attended by over 1000 registrars and magistrates from across the country. The conference aimed to strategize on enhancing justice administration and improving performance in their roles.

Member states of the East African Region have commissioned the regional office in Uganda to host the Independent Regulatory Board secretariat to facilitated the objectives of harmonizing electricity trade and regulations.
The office is housed in the former Electricity Regulatory Authority of Uganda at plot 15 Shimon Road, the chairperson of the board Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako has confirmed relevant approvals from the world bank towards office operations.

Impact on waste management - kampala traders grapple with mounting garbage impacting businesses
Traders, united under the United Arcaders Traders Entrepreneurs Association (UATEA), are facing mounting challenges due to the increasing piles of garbage around Kampala's arcades, significantly impacting local businesses.
Ntaale Edward, Chairman of UATEA, stressed the urgent need for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to address the growing garbage crisis. He warned that continued negligence might push traders to take drastic measures, including refusing license payments.

Cochlear implantation - MAK University Hospital performs first cochlear implant surgery
Makerere University Hospital a subsidiary of Makerere College of Health Sciences has registered a milestone after successfully performing her 1st cochlear implant surgery on a 13-year old Valerie Nanono.
According to Alego Olga Nanono’s mother, at 9-years Nanono suffered from meningitis disease that left her in a muted world in 2019.
Since then, efforts to correct the devastating condition of Nanono were launched that involved going to as far as India but with little progress.

Court of Appeal in Kampala has halted the auctioning of Muslim property in a bid to recover shs19.2 billion by businessman Justus Kyabahwa.
The ruling was made by three justices of court of appeal led by the deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera.
